At a recent White House event celebrating American coal, President Donald Trump raised eyebrows with an unusual moment during his speech. While delivering remarks, he appeared to slur his words and briefly lose his train of thought. The incident prompted widespread discussion online and among political observers.

Donald Trump, 79, appeared to slur his words during a White House speech on Wednesday, prompting concern about his health.

While presenting a trophy declaring him the “Undisputed Champion of Coal,” Trump began to say, “I’m proud to officially name the undispuut…,” followed by two seconds of unintelligible speech. He then asked, “When did this come out? Mr. Speaker,” before regaining composure and finishing, “The undisputed champion of beautiful, clean coal” (via Daily Beast).

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum attended the event where Trump delivered his remarks. Trump signed an executive order during the ceremony, which the Washington Coal Club hosted. He later said, “We have to proceed, always—don’t use the word coal, you know, it needs a PR job.”

Trump shifted the focus of his speech to wind energy, saying, “I’m not a big fan of those crazy windmills,” while twirling his finger to mimic their rotation. He added, “They’re made in China but not used by China. Let’s look for a couple of wind farms in China. See if you can find one.”

He continued criticizing renewable energy, calling windmills “losers” and stating, “You’re supposed to make money with energy, not lose money with energy.” His right hand appeared discolored again, a detail previously noted in reports. He also wore visible makeup on his hand during the appearance.

White House spokesman Davis Ingle addressed the incident, saying, “President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history.” He accused the Daily Beast of promoting “baseless conspiracy theories” and emphasized that Trump spent the day “unleashing energy dominance, lowering costs, and putting the American people first.”
