The most viral moment of the 2026 Olympics has been the on-air cheating confession by Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid. After winning a bronze medal in the men’s 20km Biathlon event, he tearfully admitted to cheating on his girlfriend.
Calling his ex “the love of my life,” Lægreid confessed that he’d been “unfaithful,” and they’d broken up. However, the next day the Olympian apologized to both the ex-girlfriend and his teammate, Johan-Olav Botn, who had won the gold medal. He claimed to “deeply regret” both stealing Botn’s spotlight and exposing his ex-girlfriend’s personal life.
But when the ladies of The View brought up the subject on February 12, Whoopi Goldberg was “confused.”

Co-host Joy Behar tried to clarify it for her. “The main thing, Whoopi, is he’s with the girl six months, and he’s cheating on her already,” she said, before offering a scientific explanation for the athlete’s infidelity.
“Tell us, doctor,” Whoopi responded.
“I’m quoting the great anthropologist, Helen Fisher,” Joy continued. “She says that the first two years of a relationship, you’re hot for each other … so you can reproduce and continue with the species. So if [he’s] already cheating at six months, that is biology telling you it’s off, it’s wrong.”
Furthermore, as Sara Haines added her opinion that Lægreid just wasn’t invested in the relationship, Whoopi put her head in her hands. Clearly, she was no longer interested.
“Stay with us, Whoopi,” Ana Navarro urged.
As Sunny Hostin tried to add her two cents, Whoopi tried to get out of her chair and walk away. “I’m out,” she said.
Finally, as Whoopi slumped in her chair, Joy said, “Whoopi, you’re excused from this conversation. Take a nap.”
Agreeing that she was truly done, Whoopi announced, “You know what? I’ll get this all straightened out. We’ll be right back.” And with that, the show went to commercial.
