The arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor might come as a huge relief to his nephew. Prince William has reportedly called for his uncle to be dismissed from the royal family behind closed doors. Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein led to his loss of the title of Prince and his eviction from the Royal Lodge. On Thursday, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct while in public office.
According to a royal insider, William always saw his uncle as a “threat to the monarchy.” Andrew is the first senior British royal member to be arrested since King Charles 1 in 1647.

Even though he’s not been convicted of anything, Andrew’s unlikely to garner any sympathy from the future King. An insider tells RadarOnline that in William’s eyes, Andrew has only brought “shame and disgrace to the royal family.” Andrew has always denied wrongdoing in Jeffrey’s sex trafficking scandal. He did, however, settle a lawsuit against Virginia Giuffre out of court. The late Australian claimed she’s been trafficked to Andrew when she was 17.
William has promised to rule the kingdom when he takes over with an iron fist. He’s said there will be zero tolerance for scandals like the one his uncle is implicated in. The Prince has called for Andrew to be banished. Another insider says that William and his family were sick to death of all the shame Andrew’s brought on them.
Andrew was released hours after his arrest, though it’s unclear if it was on bail. The ex-royal was photographed at around 7pm local time in the UK in a car departing the Aylsham police station in Norfolk. King Charles spoke shortly after his brother’s release, saying investigators will have their full cooperation on this matter. He added that the law must take its course.
Even before his ties to Jeffrey, William reportedly never trusted his uncle. Insiders claim that the future King saw how Charles’ brother treated palace staff and never saw eye to eye with him. William reportedly saw Andrew’s issues as something that could resurface repeatedly, eroding public trust in the royal family.
