Things are heating up in the courtroom between Marciano Brunette from Vanderpump Villa and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Demi Engemann. He sued her for defamation after she accused him of sexual misconduct. Now, she just hit back at his lawsuit, claiming that he’s infringing on her First Amendment rights, and she wants a judge to toss out the entire case.
Demi Engemann wants Marciano Brunette’s defamation lawsuit dismissed
As a reminder, Demi first accused Marciano after a 2024 crossover between Vanderpump Villa and SLOMW. She claimed that he touched her without consent and then went on to call him a “sexual predator.”
Meanwhile, Marciano’s defamation lawsuit accused her of using him “as her storyline.” He said that she “reframed the obviously consensual interaction as one of sexual misconduct and then as sexual assault.”
Marciano filed his defamation lawsuit in December 2025, but in new legal docs reviewed by TMZ, Demi hit back, calling his lawsuit a “sham.” According to Demi and her legal team, Marciano isn’t trying to get justice for defamation. He’s trying to get even.
Demi asked a judge to dismiss Marciano’s lawsuit, claiming that he filed it “solely to gain media attention.” She goes on to accuse the Vanderpump Villa star of wanting to “punish” her for “exercising her First Amendment right to speak out concerning [Marciano’s] misconduct.”
On top of Demi’s latest claims, she also tried to paint Marciano as a serial predator. She said that he was “proud” of his bedroom reputation and bragged about how his employers had to enact a “special policy prohibiting him from sleeping with other employees.” She also claimed that Marciano told her he “slept with an ‘extraordinary’ number of employees.”
At the moment, a judge has yet to rule on any of this. Stay tuned to see if Demi can manage to get the defamation lawsuit dismissed.
