Kid Rock’s Rock the Country festival has removed South Carolina from the tour. According to Anderson County, S.C., officials, the event was cancelled in the state after many artists dropped out of the lineup.

The dates for the two-day concert were July 25 and 26. On February 5, the county was notified the festival would not be held, and no specific reason was provided.

The South Carolina city was part of an eight-city tour. The festival launches in May and ends in December. The tour is still set to go on, with shows in Bellville, Texas, and Bloomingdale, Ga., in May; Sioux Falls, S.D., in June; Ashland, Ky., in July; Hastings, Mich., and Ocala, Fla., in August; and Hamburg, N.Y., in September.

The artists who cancelled their Rock the Country appearances are Shinedown, who announced its decision last Friday, February 6. “Our band’s purpose is to unite, not divide. With that in mind, we have made the decision that we will not be playing the Rock the Country festival,” the band posted on X. “We know this decision will create differences of opinion. But we do not want to participate in something we believe will create further division.”

Creed, Ludacris, Morgan Wade and Carter Faith also are no longer performing at the festival. Jason Aldean; Blake Shelton; Jelly Roll; Brooks & Dunn; Riley Green; Miranda Lambert; Hank Willkiams Jr.; Ella Langley; Lynyrd Skynyrd; Jon Pardi; and Brantley Gilbert, among others remain in the lineup.

Although Rock the Country has not officially claimed a political stance, some headliners, including Jason, are Trump supporters.

South Carolina’s 2024 Rock the Country event brought in 25,000 attendees and $17 million to the state.

Though he didn’t receive a reason for the cancellation, county administrator Rusty Burns said to the Post & Courier, “It happens in the business. We had a good, two-year run. The last two events showed we can host large-scale shows successfully.”
