Prince Harry‘s ongoing privacy trial has brought unexpected details from his past social life into the spotlight. During testimony in the case, a journalist from the Mail on Sunday reportedly recalled attending a late-night gathering where the Duke of Sussex was present. The account surfaced while witnesses discussed their past interactions with Harry and members of his social circle.
Mail on Sunday journalist Charlotte Griffiths recalls ‘partying’ with Prince Harry at privacy trial
During proceedings in London’s High Court, Mail on Sunday journalist Charlotte Griffiths told the court she once attended an “after party” gathering where Prince Harry was allegedly present. Griffiths said the incident dates back to June 2012. According to her written witness statement, she had been out at a nightclub with film producer Arthur Landon, who is supposedly one of Harry’s long-time friends.
Landon reportedly invited her to continue the evening at his home. Griffiths claimed that when she arrived, Landon had not yet returned but had told her that Prince Harry was already at the flat and that the gathering had started.
She told the court that the music was loud inside the apartment, which meant no one heard the doorbell. Griffiths said Landon advised her to call and send text messages so someone could let her in. Court records show that a phone call from Griffiths to Harry allegedly occurred around 2:50 a.m., along with several text exchanges.
Reflecting on the night, Griffiths said the timing stood out because it happened shortly before the annual Trooping the Colour celebrations. The ceremony marked the official birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth II at the time. She told the court she remembered finding it amusing that Harry had apparently “stayed up all night” despite having a military engagement the following morning.
The journalist, who joined the Mail on Sunday in 2008, said she had been in similar social circles to the 41-year-old’s for years. According to The Times, she also attended polo matches, parties, and other high-society events.
Harry and several other public figures are currently pursuing legal claims against Associated Newspapers, alleging unlawful information-gathering practices, including phone hacking and data misuse. The publisher denies the allegations, and the trial remains ongoing.
