Netflix reportedly ended its partnership with Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle brand, As Ever. The streaming giant became a partner when the brand was launched a year ago. A source close to the Duchess has reportedly claimed that she wasn’t disappointed when the deal was cut.
This was because she allegedly felt that her brand was being “held back” due to Netflix being too “cautious.” While the sources say she is happy to have regained full control of her brand, a new report suggests that Netflix was unhappy because “no one cared” about the brand.
Netflix was unhappy ‘no one really cared’ for Meghan Markle’s As Ever brand, per source
The partnership between Netflix and Meghan Markle’s As Ever brand has officially ended. The brand, launched a year ago, was inspired by her passion for thoughtful living and cooking and features products such as jams, candles, and more.
Although the streaming giant ended its partnership with the brand, it was recently reported that the move didn’t affect Markle. Sources close to her claimed that she was happy to regain “complete control” over her brand. Moreover, she allegedly felt that As Ever was being “held back” due to Netflix being too “cautious.”
However, a recent report by the Daily Mail has added a new perspective. According to an insider, the streaming platform was “not happy” with the brand, realizing that the business “didn’t fit.”
A source said, “They were not happy with the fact that no one really cared about the brand—so when they were looking to create As Ever areas in Netflix House, there was no appetite for it.”
This news comes months after Netflix canceled the show, With Love, Meghan, which ran for two seasons. Although their business partnership has ended, sources claim that the entrepreneur reportedly remains on good terms with Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix.
