Nancy Guthrie may not have willingly vanished. That’s the latest update coming from the Pima County’s office in Arizona following news that Savannah Guthrie’s mother is missing. Nancy was last seen on Saturday, with Sheriff Chris Nanos now saying the disappearance is now being treated as a crime.
The co-anchor of the NBC program Today notes that her mother is extremely bright and would not just take off without warning. She says that Nancy has physical limits, being 84 years old. Savannah is the youngest of three children that Nancy has with the late Charles Guthrie.
Nancy Guthrie “did not leave on her own”

Nancy’s absence may be someone else’s doing. That’s how Pima County is treating the incident. They are desperate for any leads on her whereabouts. In a press conference on Monday, Sheriff Chris said they now believe that Nancy “did not leave on her own.” As such he says her missing is a crime scene and they are asking those around the area for help.
While Savannah has praised her mother’s self-awareness, the Sheriff notes that she needs vital medication to survive. He adds that authorities have her cell phone and will be analyzing it for potential leads. The mother had been reported missing on Sunday after being a no-show at a church service earlier that day.
Due to the disappearance, Savannah was not hosting Today on Monday. Nancy lives alone in her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. On Sunday, Chris said that search and rescue teams in the region were looking for her on the ground and in the air. They have since been called off temporarily to rest. Chris says that the state of Nancy’s home upon investigation raised some red flags for them about her disappearance.
For her part, Savannah expressed gratitude to the public for their well-wishes following this news. She says that her focus and the family are focusing on the hopefully safe return of Nancy.
