In a conversation with The Times of London, Kim Novak shared her stance on Sydney Sweeney’s casting in her upcoming biopic, “Scandalous!” She thinks that Sweeney “sticks out so much above the waist.” She further raised concerns that the film might shift attention away from her genuine love story with Sammy Davis Jr. and might place a larger focus on their intimate relationship.
Novak said, “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time. She was totally wrong to play me.” She also claimed that she never approved of the making of this drama movie in the first place.
In a conversation with Variety, Sweeney earlier opened up about her thoughts on people sexualizing her and passing negative comments about her body. She said, “I see it, and I just can’t allow myself to have a reaction. I don’t know how to explain it — I’m still trying to figure it out myself. People feel connected and free to be able to speak about me in whatever way they want, because they believe that I’ve signed my life away. That I’m not on a human level anymore, because I’m an actor.”
Sweeney further reflected on how people start seeing her through the roles she plays, rather than as her real self. She considered it a “weird relationship” she shares with people, over which she has zero control.
Alongside Sweeney, David Jonsson will play Davis Jr. in “Scandalous!” Colman Domingo will make his directorial debut with this movie.
