Another star has just come forward, admitting that their winnings on a reality TV series have yet to be paid out. This time, the star in question is Kelly Clarkson. She won American Idol nearly 25 years ago. And still, her money and her promised car have yet to arrive at her doorstep.

Here’s what Kelly had to say.

Kelly expected $1 million and a new vehicle

When Rob Rausch appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he and Kelly realized they had something in common. They both won a competition series. Yet, neither has received their promised prizes.

Rob won The Traitors Season 4 all by himself. His prize pot totaled $220,800. But as he explained to Kelly, “They still haven’t paid me.” His big reveal struck a nerve with Kelly.

“I relate to this so hard core because whenever I won, you probably weren’t alive when I was on ‘American Idol,’ but I literally was on the show, and they were like, ‘Oh, you win a million dollars or whatever.’ No, you didn’t. They lied,” Kelly said. Instead, it was like “a $1 million worth of investment in you.”

“And then they said, ‘You get a car,'” Kelly recalled. She needed that prize, since her car back then was “bashed in” and she “couldn’t afford the deductible.” Growing heated, Kelly sassed, “And then Clay Aiken, who didn’t win the second season, got a car,” as did his mother. In response, all that Rob could utter was, “Unbelievable.”

But Kelly still had more to say. As she revealed, she once joked with Clay about this mess. “I was like, I’m gonna actually kick your ass right now.”

American Idol allegedly didn’t pay Kelly, but it still airs on Mondays at 8/7c on ABC. It streams the next day on Hulu and Disney+.
