Episode 8 Stats

Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 49.

Merge

  • There are 42 players to make it to the merge without attending a pre-merge tribal council, including Kristina, MC, and Sophie from this season. The others are as follows:
    • Philippines – Skupin, Lisa, Abi, Pete, Artis, RC
    • Cambodia – Keith & Joe
    • Kaoh Rong – Michele & Nick
    • Game Changers – Cirie
    • Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers – Mike, Cole & Jessica
    • Ghost Islands – Chris
    • Edge of Extinction – Julie, Aurora, Ron, Julia, & Joe
    • Survivor 41 – Erika, Deshawn, Heather, Danny, Naseer, & Sydney
    • Survivor 45 – Jake, Katurah, Bruce, & Kellie
    • Survivor 46 – Liz, Venus, Hunter, Tevin, & Soda
    • Survivor 48 – Eva, Star, David, & Charity
      • More than half of these players are from new era seasons.
  • Lewatu is the 15th “L” tribe and the fourth “L” merged tribe on Survivor.
    • It’s the second black “L” tribe after Lavita in Ghost Island.
  • Lewatu means “strongest woman in the village” in Fijian, per Sophi.

Hidden Immunity Idol/Advantage

  • Kristina found the idol that was re-hidden after MC played hers at last episode’s tribal council.
    • Both players on Survivor named Kristina found an idol.
      • Kristina Kell in Redemption Island.
      • Kristina Mills in Survivor 49.
  • Savannah is the 23rd player to receive/earn an extra vote advantage.

Immunity Challenge – “Chimney Sweeps”

  • Variations of this challenge were used in Fiji, Tocantins, Heroes vs. Villains, Redemption Island, Edge of Extinction, Survivor 44, and Survivor 47.
  • Lauren from Survivor 44 is the only woman to win this challenge individually.

Confessionals

  • Savannah had the highest number of confessionals this episode with 13.
    • She had the same number of confessionals this episode that Kristina has had all season.
  • Sophi and Kristina had the lowest number of confessionals this episode with 2.
  • Savannah currently has the most confessionals with 55.
  • Kristina has the lowest confessional count with 13.

Tribal Council

  • MC was voted out 4-1.
    • She’s the second player this season voted out 4-1 after Annie in episode 2.
  • A woman has been voted out on day 15 in the three most recent seasons.
    • Survivor 47 – Sierra
    • Survivor 48 – Chrissy
    • Survivor 49 – MC
      • Brandon in Survivor 44 is the only man to be voted out on day 15 in the new era.
  • Both players that went on the journey in episode 5 (Nate & MC) were voted out back to back and are the first two jury members.
  • In episode 4, only original Hina men received votes, while in episode 8, only original Hina women received votes.
  • With the exception of Ghost Island, every time the merge tribe has been split for a split tribal (where one or two separate groups attend tribal council), at least one POC has been voted out.

    • Survivor 41 – Naseer
    • Survivor 42 – Rocksroy
    • Survivor 43 – Ryan & James

      • Two of these players are named Michelle (MC’s first name is Michelle).
  • Kristina, Sage, and Savannah are the only players still in the game without any votes cast against them.

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Hot Grim Reaper” was said by Savannah.
    • Alex is still the only non-Uli member to have an episode title so far this season.
    • Nobody from Hina has had an episode title yet.

Survivor Birthdays

  • This week’s episode aired on the following Survivor player’s birthday:
    • Ethan Zohn – Africa, All-Stars, Winners at War
    • Candice Cody – Cook Islands, Heroes vs. Villains, Blood vs. Water
    • Julia Landauer – Caramoan
    • Caroline Vidmar – Survivor 47
