The Traitors Season 4 Episode 8 Recap: Is There a New Traitor in the Castle?

We’re still mentally recovering from the Black Banquet on The Traitors, but the show must go on, and so do the murders. Last week, Lisa went down in flames after a murder in plain sight went awry. Yam Yam screaming Lisa’s name as he got dragged out by the executioners will go down in reality TV history.

In The Traitors Season 4 Episode 8, “A Queen Never Comes Off Her Throne,” the chaos continued as the two remaining Traitors were presented with a big question: Do they want to kill a Faithful, or is it time to bring in a third?

As the dust settled from the Black Banquet murder and Rinna’s subsequent banishment, Rob and Candiace struggled to get back on the same page. Could recruiting another Traitor help fix this broken relationship? Probably not. Either way, a high-profile murder rocked the castle, and in the end, another player got voted out of the game. You’re going to need a “cryangle” for this one.

The tension was thick in the turret this week, after Candiace cast a “throwaway vote” for Rob. Obviously, she did that out of pure spite over Rob’s betrayal of Rinna, but when the two confronted each other, Candiace didn’t seem ready to take ownership of that decision. If you’ve seen her on Real Housewives of Potomac, that behavior should come as no surprise.

Rob let it slide, but in his confessional, he made it clear that he wasn’t going to forget about what Candiace did. He’s fully aware that Colton had been throwing her name out into the ether. With Candiace refusing to apologize, Rob chose to keep that information to himself.

As the two faced off in the turret, Alan came in with some news. When a Traitor goes down, they get the opportunity to bring in another.

Candiace seemed eager to add someone else to the equation, but Rob quickly shut down the idea. He said they’d be better off if it were just the two of them. He knows that he’s already well-positioned to make it to the end.

With a recruitment off the table, he told Candiace she could take the lead on the night’s murder. That decision wound up changing the game for both of them.

In a shocking move, Colton from The Bachelor was murdered in The Traitors Season 4 Episode 8. It was fully Candiace’s decision, and it was a brilliant move on Rob’s part to let it happen. No one would suspect that he’d have a hand in killing his castle bestie.

With Colton out of the way, this will finally give some of those other players a chance to get a word in edgewise. We’re looking at you, Kristen. We’re talking about you, Mark. These Faithful have to clock in and can no longer rely on coasting behind Colton.

In a confessional, Candiace justified the murder by saying that she wanted to break up the alliance between Colton and Rob. She felt like Rob used Colton to target Lisa, and she feared she would be next if he stayed in the game. Unfortunately for Candiace, Rob has plenty of other allies in other corners of the castle. It’s a privilege Candiace doesn’t seem to have.

The Faithfuls were energized by Rinna’s banishment, but Candiace and Rob were in the castle spiraling. She knew she needed to start putting heat on someone else if she wanted to stay in the game. That was an uphill battle, as most of the players were very much fixated on her confusing throwaway vote to Rob.

Meanwhile, Rob was running around, fully masquerading as a Faithful. He spent this episode spinning theories about Candiace, proving that he didn’t need Colton to stay alive in the game. He even tried to volunteer himself for a shield in the mission! It wound up going to Kristen, but still, this man is working overtime in this game.

At one point, Candiace and Rob confronted each other right in the middle of the castle. They made it extremely clear to each other that their relationship had turned toxic, and it had reached a point of no return.

Candiace vowed to take him down with her if she were to get kicked out of the castle. Rob said that it would be “bad sportsmanship.” We think that’s just Candiace being Candiace.

Candiace was the latest player banished from The Traitors, and the vote was a landslide. Ultimately, her downfall was the vote she cast for Rob. No one could get past that, and she wound up locking in nine votes.

Of course, Candiace didn’t go down without a fight. She threw Rob under the bus, just like she promised. Candiace also managed to start a fight between Tara and Natalie, proving exactly why she’s such a great Real Housewife. However, the votes were still overwhelmingly against her.

In a teary-eyed exit interview, Candiace reflected on her time in the castle and said that lying constantly was the hardest part about the game. She genuinely started making connections with the Faithfuls, and it became increasingly hard to keep killing them off.

“I really started to love everybody, and that’s what stings the most,” Candiace said.

However, when it came to Rob, Candiace still seemed a little bitter. She said she felt confident that the Faithfuls would catch onto his snake-like ways.

“I’m confident that he’s going to look at Rob,” Candiace concluded. “And, in the event that they don’t, joke is on them.”

With Donna, Rinna, and Candiace all out of the picture, Rob is the last Traitor standing — at least for now. After Candiace voted for Rob not one, but twice, he knows the heat is on him.

In the turret, where Rob said he was finally enjoying some peace and quiet, Alan arrived with some more news. He’s got to try to recruit a Faithful.

Rob was tasked with issuing an ultimatum to one Faithful: join the Traitors or die. The episode ended with him passing that note along to Eric. What will he choose?

The Traitors continues every Thursday at 9/8c on Peacock.
