Cynthia Bailey Says Domestic Violence PSA Will Help Her Mom Heal; Doesn’t Think NeNe & Porsha Are Ready To Move On

Real Housewives of Atlanta recap

Real Housewives of Atlanta recap

This week’s episode of Real Housewives Of Atlanta was quite an eye-opener for Cynthia Bailey after her mother opened up in a domestic violence PSA about the abuse she suffered from Cynthia’s father.

Cynthia admits to being both “sad and proud” of her mom’s testimonial, but was ultimately glad that Kenya Moore encouraged her mother to participate.

“My mother has never really openly talked in detail about her domestic issues regarding her past relationships with me and my siblings,” explains Cynthia. “Actually, I was surprised when she told me that she wanted to do it, and honestly at the last minute she wanted to back out because she was worried about what her friends and family would say. I know that it was extremely difficult for my mother to address this part of her life publicly and allow her voice to be heard in Kenya’s PSA.”

Cynthia gushed that the entire PSA was a positive experience for all the women. “I always enjoy coming together for good and not evil, LOL! Although we all have our individual power, we are so much more powerful together.”

Cynthia also hopes that after sharing her story her mom will “not only empower other victims of domestic abuse to standup, but also finally be able to heal herself and get the closure she needs to move on with her life.”

The PSA shoot was all the more encouraging because, despite their animosity, NeNe Leakes and Posha Williams managed to put aside their differences for the larger cause. Reflecting on Marlo’s attempt at a reconciliation tea, Cynthia says, “I was happy to be invited to try to help, because I believe that the ladies can move past their issues.”

“As long as there is mutual respect for each other, you don’t have to be friends to be cordial,” Cynthia writes in her Bravo Blog. “I feel that holding on to anger and resentment for too long is exhausting and just not worth it. You end up giving that person way too much power over your emotions.”

Nice sentiment Cynthia, but I have a feeling this feud is going to stay in ‘the petty’ for a long, long time. Or perhaps I’m wrong and the PSA will inspire them to focus on the bigger picture, and move on?
