After a one week hiatus, Teen Mom 2 is picking up right where we left off from the last episode. Briana DeJesus is still fighting with her ex Luis about his level of involvement in their newborn’s life, Leah Messer is trying to figure out how to accommodate all of her girls and their own unique needs, Chelsea DeBoer is planning for her upcoming wedding reception, over a year in the making, Kailyn Lowry is stressing over the impending birth of her third child and finally, Jenelle Evans is fighting with everyone as usual.
After a recent trip to the ER and discovering that baby Stella has holes in her heart, she seems to be doing much better but baby daddy Luis still hasn’t come around to help out or check on her, which comes as a surprise to no one. It definitely isn’t a surprise to Briana, who tells her friend Shirley about his lack of interest while out for donuts. Briana thinks he is staying away because he’s intimidated with her mom and sister always yelling at him when he’s over and that sounds probable given how hard they come for him. I’m not saying it’s not warranted but maybe they could recognize that busting his chops every time he walks through the door might not be the most inviting environment. This is all looking more and more like Devoin and Shirley wants to know if Briana filed for child support like she said she would. Briana has all the paperwork filled out but is hesitant to do so since she knows he is spiteful and it won’t go over well.
Nova is starting kindergarten and Briana is hoping Devoin will be more involved so when he comes over, she discusses his role and how he will help. After seeing the first episode and realizing how stretched Briana is paying for two babies (or maybe because the cameras are there), Devoin offers to pay for Nova’s after school care himself. Briana hopes he keeps his word so she doesn’t have to resort to child support but only a few days later at Nova’s pre-K orientation, Devoin drops the ball again and can only cough up $60 for the deposit to get her enrolled. Briana has no choice but to go to the ATM and get the rest of the money herself. You could tell this was going to happen when she was giving him the numbers and he was trying to half everything but either way, Briana is stuck with the majority of the bill and that’s enough to have her finally mail out the documents to file for child support.
Leah’s twins are about to start 2nd grade, while Addie will be going to preschool next week. This year, the twins will be separated and Ali will have an aide with her all day to help. Leah thinks this will be a positive change for the girls so they can form their own identities without each other and maybe even cut down on the bickering since they will have some time apart. Leah drops them off at the bus stop for their first day, feeling nervous but happy and since Corey Simms has them for the next few days, he picks them up from school. On the swings in the backyard, he asks them how it went and Gracie seems happy to be away from her sister, while Ali doesn’t seem nearly as excited. I’m sure it will be an adjustment and I think everyone is hoping the rest of the year will go smoothly.
Chelsea is in full wedding (reception) planning mode and she takes Aubree to her dress fitting for the big day. Aubree looks adorable and Chelsea can’t believe how grown up she looks.
Chelsea still has her own wedding dress to pick up and she heads to Minneapolis with a friend to get it. She’s worried she won’t be as into it as she was a year ago when she picked it out, before she was pregnant but when she tries it on, she is thrilled and I don’t blame her – the dress is gorgeous and it looks perfect on her! Once the reception is finally done, Chelsea hopes she can finally take that honeymoon with her husband before they work on having more kids.
Kail is back from St. Thomas and feeling OK but really busy getting ready for the baby to come. She is also anxious about her baby daddy Chris’ participation since he missed her last ultrasound appointment. It sounds like things have gone from bad to worse with these two because Kail says she wishes she could just be like Briana and cut him off for treating her poorly instead of holding out any hope that he will change. As she heads to her ultrasound appointment, unsure of whether or not Chris will even show up, she cries on the phone to her friend, saying Chris doesn’t even pick up her calls when he’s with another girl so she’s worried he will miss her going into labor entirely and she will have to go through it alone. When she arrives at her appointment, Chris is there but that’s little consolation for Kail at this point.
Jenelle is one week away from their back yard wedding and she’s in NYC with David and the kids to get her final dress fitting and proper attire for the kids. When they get back, they approach Andre, the MTV security guard who just so happens to be ordained, and ask him if he will officiate the wedding. He agrees and David tells him he can leave out the part where he asks if anyone objects to their union.
Barb is dealing with her feelings of being left off the guest list and explains how upset she is while out to lunch with a friend. She first blames David, saying that he has always wanted Jenelle to himself and then she pivots, blaming Jenelle for taking Jace away. Her friend has clearly heard this drama a million times and tells Barbara she’s being stubborn for not being the one to try and make things right for Jace’s sake. But Barb doesn’t want to be accountable, she wants sympathy because she’s upset and she flat out refuses to deal with David at all. Her friend reminds her that wedding guests should be those who love and support the couple who is getting married and Barb isn’t one of those people. Her friend is right but I doubt Barb heard her through her own self-pity.
Over at Jenelle’s house, it’s the day before the wedding and David is supposed to be laying a ton of sod down so they can get their rental tents delivered. Jenelle is freaking out because they have no friends to help them and David isn’t picking up her phone as she calls him from inside to undoubtedly bust his balls about it. Things escalate and they continue to fight as Jenelle storms around the property, screaming about all kinds of things and refusing to film. Some of the things she screaming about include having to go pick up Jace, hating her mom, planning the wedding all by herself, and the fact that David won’t ask her what’s wrong. I think he’s not asking because she’s busy screaming it to the world but ok. Jenelle orders the crew away, yelling about how stressed she is and she won’t even tell them if they can come back to film the rehearsal, then mutters that the whole wedding should just be cancelled.
I doubt anyone would be surprised or disappointed if it was but as we all know already, the wedding happened and Jenelle and David are officially married.
I guess we will see how it all plays out on next week’s episode, drama and all.
