CBS is promising us a “game changing twist” when Episode 3 of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X drops tonight. We are suddenly a few episodes into Season 33 already, and we’ve now gotten to see each of the two tribes at Tribal Council.
On the “old person” Gen-X tribe (can’t believe I’m saying that), it appears that CeCe, Ken, and David are on the outside of the majority alliance, although human plastic-bag-in-the-wind David happened to find the season’s first hidden Immunity Idol. Over at Club Med…er, the Millennial tribe, showmance Figgy and Taylor (Fig-lor? Taygy?) survived a tumultuous Tribal Council, with the help of Michelle (and Jay) who swayed Hannah to vote out Mari, in mid-conversation with Jeff Probst. Something unseen must have made Michaela go along with the vote as well, because the episode had built up a real tension between her and Figgy. All of this, left poor Zeke and Adam feeling betrayed by Hannah, of course, and now that they remain in the game – and had just tried to vote Figgy out – things will get more explosive than island diarrhea very quickly once the tribe returns to camp.
So what is this “game changing twist” we’re about to witness? And what can we expect from the two tribes heading into the season’s third Tribal Council?

CBS is usually good at keeping things under wraps, but this week’s official episode synopsis spills the beans a bit. Here is what they have to say about tonight’s new ep:
Episode 3 – “Your Job Is Recon” – Castaways get a chance to mingle with the “enemy,” and balance and precision are tested at a tough immunity challenge, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, October 5 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
It appears that the two tribes will intermingle for the first time this season, by way of a shared feast. It will be a great way for each tribe to score some intel on the opposing tribe, which also explains the episode’s title. And from the looks of it, the dinner guests will be chosen by random draw.
Beyond this, we are given some scenes showcasing a pretty grueling land Immunity Challenge, one in which CeCe gets called out for taking her sweet time. Does this mean Gen-X will be heading to Tribal this week?
“The Fans Have Spoken.” Here’s my second go-round with this segment, which is a weekly portion of my preview article where I’ll try to answer some questions left on last week’s Survivor Recap comment section, or just comment on what seemed to be the “hot topics” on the comment board. I’m loving all of the feedback, so keep it coming! The interaction, the excitement, the occasional complaining (mostly from me) is what makes watching Survivor worth it in the end.
Unlike Episode 1, where no one could care less about the exit of Rachel, it seems that there was a strong reaction to seeing Mari go home. And I couldn’t agree more. Mari seemed like a great personality and a smart player, which is probably the exact reason she was targeted.
On the flip side, it seems like Taylor may be the only one with some Figgy-love at the moment. She is not seeming to rub people the right way thus far, but something tells me that she well get her comeuppance soon enough… showmances do not normally survive on Survivor, unless you happen to be in a showmance with Boston Rob. Or Mark the Chicken. But overall it seems like folks are digging this season, or at least feeling intrigued at this point enough to continue watching.
Predictions: Now two episodes into the season, I’m going to go out on a limb and predict Zeke as the winner. Why? Well, he just seems to be the sort of player that others will love, but at the same time he will never pose a physical threat to anyone else. He’s on the outs now, but will probably be targeted last of those not in the showmance alliance. And I’m expecting him to at least go deep when, in answering why people should watch this season, Jeff Probst simply replied, “Zeke.”
As for this week? Figgy and Taylor made it through their first Tribal, but I’m not convinced that the rest of the tribe is solid with them. And if Gen-X goes to Tribal, I think we’re in for an epic Tribal, with David sure to play his Immunity Idol.
Now is the time that I remind you to check out Episode 3 tonight at 8pm on CBS – and then check back here for another recap!
TELL US – WHO WILL GO HOME TONIGHT? WILL THE “FIGLER” SHOWMANCE LAST? NOW THAT YOU’VE SEEN BOTH TRIBES AT TRIBAL COUNCIL, WHO DO YOU PREDICT WILL BE THIS SEASON’S WINNER?
