Kenya Moore Says She Had Every Right To Knock On Her Mother’s Door; Birthday Flashback Photos

ATL Premiere Of WE Tv's "Growing Up Hip Hop"

Kenya Moore

Happy Birthday to Kenya MooreThe Real Housewives of Atlanta star is celebrating her 45th birthday today.  We’ve got a fun roundup of flashback photos of Kenya down below.  But first up, we have Kenya’s thoughts on last week’s episode of RHOA.  Kenya explains some more about her conversation with her aunt and the strained relationship with her birth mother.

On that argument with her beloved Aunt Lori, “I have always considered my aunt to be the most compassionate member of my mother’s family. However, when it comes to my treatment from them, rarely has she or anyone else said or done anything that is sensible, rational, or logical. It’s disturbing, because they all seem crazy to me. I never would have dreamed that she would take that stance and place blame on me for knocking on my mother’s door. I had every right to knock on her door or even knock it down to get answers.” Kenya goes on, “My mother’s family constantly attacks me for wanting closure, but they never attacked my mother when she would relentlessly mistreat me in their presence. Often times they have made me feel like they resent the fact that I was even born, treating me as an inconvenience rather than an innocent child. This behavior causes family dysfunction — not speaking up and sweeping things under the rug, and the outcome is generations of dysfunction.”

On Cynthia’s reaction to Kenya’s story about her mom, “I was surprised. But Cynthia reacted in a way I’ve always wanted my family to react to a child being abused in front of them. I have always wanted them to get mad, get angry, and intervene. However, the dysfunction just continued, and I have always carried the brunt of the pain on my shoulders.”

Kenya is thankful for everyone’s kindness as she opened up more about this hurtful part of her life and says she now is at peace with it all, “Thank you for your kindness. God bless all of you who have been abandoned or have ever felt alone. My birthday is this Sunday, and I feel like I have been reborn. I finally feel at peace and am excited. I wish my mother nothing but peace. I hope that whatever demons she has will be expelled and I will continue to pray for her and her family.”

And a quick update on Moore Manor!  “All my building framing, plumbing and electrical, and HVAC has been completed. Sheetrock is going up now. Every day the house is transforming, and it’s all very exciting! I am so anxious to move in that I pick up a tool and get to work myself sometimes. Just call me Builder Bobb!”

TELL US – WAS AUNT LORI BEING INSENSITIVE TO KENYA’S PAIN?

Don’t forget tonight is an all new episode of Atlanta at 8pm EST.  We’ll be live-Tweeting the drama, as always!
