The halls of Grey Sloan Memorial are about to get a little more crowded. A new class of interns is headed the hospital's way, making their first appearance in the Thursday, Oct. 12...It seems like every cast member on Shahs of Sunset is done with Asa Soltan Rahmati and her vagueness. No one expects someone to share every single bit of her life just because she’s on a reality TV show, but what do we know about Asa? She has been on this show the whole time and all she has done is sell caftans and try to convince us that diamond water is a real thing. No wonder Mercedes “MJ” Javid is lashing out.
The rest of this cast really bares it all. Sure, it takes a lot of poking and prodding for some of them to actual admit the truth – cough, cough Shervin Roohparvar and Mike Shouhed – but they all end up putting themselves out there for the sake of being real for the show… except for Asa. As expected, MJ did not hold back when she was asked about Asa during her latest Watch What Happens Live appearance and Andy Cohen and Jeff Lewis were living for it.
bAsa was probably sitting at home blowing up Reza Farahan’s phone to complain about nMJ – or at least that is what I imagine because MJ spilled some major tea.
Before the customary Asa shit talking session, MJ and Jeff discussed parenthood. Andy asked Jeff if he had any advice for MJ about starting a family and he told her, “I’d say wait as long as possible.” MJ wasn’t having any of that, insisting, “No I can’t wait anymore.” Jeff also mentioned, “I was telling Reza too. I wish I would have waited.”
Switching gears, Jeff and MJ shared their thoughts on Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge’s on-again-off-again friendship on Real Housewives of Orange County. Jeff theorized, “I think Vicki is trying to save her job, frankly. I don’t think they want to be friends. Either one of them.”
They also gave their approval for Vicki‘s new boyfriend Steve Lodge. MJ said, “He’s the best. He’s amazing.” Jeff had nothing but praise for Steve, but Vicki, not so much. He said, “He seems like a really nice guy. She’s going to screw that up.” MJ said, “Hopefully she won’t.” Jeff also threw in, “She’ll call Brooks or something.” Vicki is not going to be happy when she hears about that comment.
Just like every other interview MJ has done this season, MJ had to answer the question “Why are you so envious of Asa?” Maybe MJ was tired of answering that same question all season long because she unleashed a lot of information: “Oh come on, you guys. It’s not like that. It feels to me that I was a friend who believed we had a friendship and I didn’t know that she had a whole plan and I kept all of her secrets for so long. She was married to a guy for ten years. She never talks about where her house came from that she lives in. She was with him for ten years. I’ve always had her back.”
Except for in this moment when MJ didn’t have Asa‘s back or keep any secrets private.
Andy remarked, “It seems like she’s telling the secrets now.” Jeff told MJ, “You should tell us more.” And she did. MJ shared, “She was caught in bed allegedly having sex with another man. Then he walked away and she threatened him because she had dirt on him. And that’s why she has the house that she has.” Jeff admitted, “Wow. I wasn’t expecting that.” Neither were any of us.
When she was asked if she was surprised that Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi and Shalom Yeroushalmi got back together after filing for divorce, MJ revealed, “You know, GG at the reunion, when you see, just got back together with him because Shalom and Durani, his ex, had this Instagram war against her and Durani and Shalom called her a broke down Honda civic. And magically they got back together. She wanted to put that ring back on. I’ve never seen a less real relationship behind such a big rock.” Damn.
On a nicer note, Jeff had a lot of sweet things to say about his daughter Monroe. He admitted, “I never thought I could be as in love with something as I am with Monroe. I think she’s beautiful and smart. She’s so much like me. I love all that about her. She has a temper. I’m just warning you.”
Jeff was also asked if he had any remorse for how he has treated Gage Edward this season. Jeff explained, “Yes, but I am very emotional. I forget that the cameras are there. I’m very in the moment. I say things and he’s very smart and very calculating. He waits for the cameras to leave and then he unleashes so you don’t realize how abusive he is, but yes I do.” MJ chimed in, “That is my answer any time anyone asks me a question about Tommy [Feight] as well. Same thing.”

We are in for yet another New York edition of Shahs of Sunset this week, but finally get to see what is going on in L.A. with those left behind – Shervin Roohparvar, Asa Soltan Rahmati, and Destiney Rose, who I keep forgetting is a cast member.
It doesn’t look like L.A. is missing the Shahs much and I’m pretty sure New York will be happy to get rid of them but first, we have to suffer through Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi’s life-changing, earth-shattering, coming of age bit part in an off Broadway play that she keeps talking about. In case we haven’t been taking her seriously up to this point, she has learned her lines and thus, turned her chaotic life around in one single unpaid job opportunity. To quote Reza Farahan, it only took 35 years.
The Shahs decide to settle down from all their turning up and go for a wholesome night of ice skating. On the way there, Reza calls Asa to invite her to their newly planned Winter Wonderland/Snowflake Ball, which is going to be held to celebrate friends and family. Never mind the fact that Reza is *this close* to being on the outs with Asa for her refusal to discuss the intimate details of her uterus with the rest of the cast – friendships, even fake ones, deserve to be celebrated! Asa immediately comes up with some pre-loaded pregnancy excuses like no energy and her Braxton-hicks contractions being worse at night. Reza doesn’t know what any of that even means but decides to let it slide anyway since he knows Mike Shouhed and Mercedes “MJ” Javid don’t want to be bothered with Asa anyway.
Once at the ice skating rink, everyone pretty much sucks on skates but MJ is less concerned about skating and more interested in getting everyone on board with pushing Mike and his ex Jessica Parido back together. She seems to think that Mike would be trying to get back with Jessica if it weren’t for what everyone else thought, so it’s now her mission to encourage their dysfunctional reunion as much as possible. This seems like one stretch of a story line but as we find out later, maybe MJ has reason to believe there is still hope for Mike and Jessica.
Back in L.A., Asa is miserable just getting in and out of cars and she makes sure we know it. Yes, pregnancy sucks, especially when you’re past the 30 week mark but I can’t keep up with whether or not Asa is experiencing a divine miracle or she’s just got hemorrhoids. One can never tell with her and the way she portrays things. She heads into an ultrasound with her mom and complains to the doctor about not having the most loving friendship environment. Ugh, here we go again. The doctor simply tells her to just stay away from her friends then and Asa takes this as a direct medical order, like bed rest. So I guess Asa is officially on friend rest? They do the ultrasound and Zinat claps with glee over the baby’s golden dool and Asa drones on about what an amazing genetic makeup her baby will have between her Persian heritage and the fact that he’s part Jackson.
Later, Asa meets up with Latoya Jackson at a baby store so she can complain/humble brag to her about how big her baby is measuring but she hasn’t even needed to buy maternity clothes yet. As they pick out some truly hideous Versace baby clothes, Asa tells Latoya that she was contacted by People magazine to do a family spread once the baby is born but Jermaine refuses. Latoya nods and affirms how shy Jermaine is about his life and I wonder how he would feel about Asa’s next statement, where she takes us on a whimsical and magical tale of how they met.
Long, long story short – they met in high school, locked eye and without even speaking, Asa knew they would be together forever. But that didn’t actually get set into motion until 10 years later, at an Apple store of all places, where Asa felt a cosmic golden waterfall of diamond water presence behind her. That presence was Jermaine, who came bearing organic blueberries and they spent 18 hours listening to music and seeing a white fox on the beach under a full moon. Asa describes all of these things as omens and I would just describe them as filler for an already boring story about how they met. I really did tune out at the organic blueberry part. Anyway, all of this has resulted in the relationship we see, or rather don’t see, today.
The next morning in New York, Mike is walking around shirtless with a towel wrapped around his waist, just dying for everyone to ask him what he was up to last night. When everyone went to bed after pigging out on concierge-ordered Persian food, Mike snuck out to “hoe” as Reza would say.
If you were looking for proof of Mike’s exploits from the night before, he encourages GG to smell his Umbro underwear, as she peppers him with questions about whether or not he went to see Jessica, which she thinks is still in town from last weekend. But GG has good reason to ask after her super sleuth skills led her to zoom in on one of Mike’s posted Instagram pics, revealing Jessica’s reflection in the mirror. The girl can’t hear but she sure can see! Mike coyly stays silent about who he was with the night before and they have no choice but to drop the matter (for now).
Even if Mike is still in love with Jessica, it doesn’t sound like it would be an easy road for them to reconcile as Reza explains, all thanks to Persians and their “tribal lifestyle.” Mike’s mom doesn’t like Jessica you know, because of all the cheating her son did to her, and since she’s not on board, it’s going to be impossible for Mike to get back together with her. I guess Mike’s mom just doesn’t want to see her precious baby boy get hurt again by sleeping around on his wife.
MJ and Tommy Feight are going to take the gang (minus GG) on a trip to Queens to see Tommy’s friends and family. As they are driven over by car service, Reza tries to impersonate someone from Queens but quickly loses his humor when he sees graffiti sprayed on the buildings they are passing. They arrive at the neighborhood bar with MJ dressed in full Liza Minnelli gear, complete with a green velvet mini dress, knee high boots, studded coat, and crookedly applied lipstick. But this is Queens and no one bats an eye, even though it’s the middle of the day.
As we meet his friends, who are really his family, we learn that Tommy was taken in by the McGuire family once his single mom who was raising him passed away. MJ describes the McGuires like a big brownie sundae and for once, she isn’t wrong – they are lovely people! Also, now I want a brownie sundae. MJ makes herself right at home, asking one of his friends if he’s a tits or ass man and no doubt, he’s an ass man, which Tommy says is a Queens thing and demonstrates by stuffing his head into MJ’s velvet pillow butt. They haven’t even ordered shots yet but those are coming and once they do, it makes MJ grab Tommy and climb onto the bar so she can give a heartfelt speech about how she thinks of everyone there as family.
In her talking head, MJ cries about how Tommy has taught her about the openness of love and all jokes aside, it was a really touching moment with MJ. You can see just how badly she needs this kind of unconditional love. Tommy toasts with a poem about friends and declares himself the luckiest man in the bar. Sigh….okay you guys, I have to say it – between Tommy’s “Don’t Bust My Bulbs” adult onesie from last week and this week’s showing of family love and happiness, I actually LIKE Tommy. There! I said it. Tommy has officially grown on me like that terrible beard he is sporting.
Heading back to L.A., we get to learn a little more about Destiney and what makes her tick, as if anyone actually cares. She used to work the nightclub scene for years (doing what, she doesn’t say) but now wants to do something different so she’s invested her money in a raw juice bar, all so she can go stand outside of it and smoke a cigarette with Shervin. She tells him how disappointed she is in him that he would have been running around on Annalise, when she was convinced he wouldn’t do that, let alone lie about it.
This all prompts Shervin to take a hard look at what he wants out of his relationship and he realizes that he’s been running from commitment even since his parents divorced after 35 years of marriage. Shervin thought Annalise was the perfect way to have his cake and eat it too but he ate too much cake and now has to shed the extra weight it caused him to gain. He drives into the hills of L.A. to park on the side of the road and FaceTime Annalise, telling her how unfair he is being to her. Annalise can’t be mad at him for being honest but says this is very upsetting. Is it though? She’s got a full face of makeup on and I hardly detect one hair moving out of place as she’s being broken up with by the person she was supposed to be moving to another country for. Annalise tells Shervin he should figure out why he’s doing this and then says “bye,” just like that. Shervin got off easy, even if this was a fake relationship of convenience.
It’s finally time for GG’s big off Broadway debut and the crowds are lined up around the block for opening night. Just kidding, there are no crowds and no line. Sure, it’s a packed house but I mean that more in a literal sense – think of the living room in your house filled with people and then you will have an idea of how many people were there to see the play.
GG goes into wardrobe, which is basically a folding table with a black curtain around it that was probably used as in a local election voting booth yesterday. Mike, Reza, and Adam show up and surprise! So does Shalom, who said he wouldn’t come after last week’s psychotic blow up about GG kissing her costar. Mike accurately describes Shalom as likely being borderline bipolar but GG eats it up, squealing and rushing into his arms when he shows up backstage.
Before the play starts, Adam reads GG’s bio from the program and we all learn together that GG was a gymnast and trained for the US Olympic team competing in the 1995 Olympics. That’s news to Reza, who demands proof and Bravo shadily produces a tattered picture of GG as a young girl in pig tails on a balance beam. I guess no photos were taken as she trained her way to the Olympics.
The play starts and it’s not long before Mike starts dozing off. He can’t seem to stay awake and while Reza blames the all night partying, I blame the sheer boredom of what looks like a really lame play. Reza is into it though and praises GG’s ability to learn her lines and actually say them out loud like she is supposed to. Finally, we get to the big scene where she kisses her costar and Shalom grimaces, probably because it was so overdone and ridiculous. Once the play is over, they all head backstage, which looks less like your living room and more like your guest bathroom, so they can toast GG and how far she has come to arrive at this moment. Enjoy your success before we forget all about it next week, GG!

We asked, we believed, and we received! TLC’s 90 Day Fiance has scrounged up another batch of betrothed couples from across the globe to show us just how dangerous the internet can be. Yes, five brand new couples and one set of familiar faces (hello Nicole and Azan!) are poised to broadcast their epic travails of love and con-artistry for our viewing pleasure. For all of you long-time 90DF fans, welcome back, friends! For those of you wondering, WTF is this show and why should I watch it? I implore you: SET YOUR DVR NOW. You’re welcome, in advance.
As a reminder, the premise of this show follows American men and women who have fallen in love with foreigners who, when they arrive in the U.S. on a K-1 “fiance” Visa, will have exactly ninety days to marry their captors partners. Joining Nicole and Azan this season are newcomers Elizabeth and Andrei, Annie and David, Aika and Josh, Molly and Luis, and finally – the number one contenders for actual love and happiness (how refreshing!) – Evelyn and David. Last night’s premiere introduced us to most of the couples, and there’s a lot to dissect – so let’s get our dumpster diving on, shall we!
We begin with Molly, 41-year old Woodstock, GA, resident. Molly is a “custom bra fitter” who owns a boutique…allegedly. She considers herself a local celebrity and prides herself on fitting the “largest boobs in the world” with brassieres. This perhaps serves as a clue that Woodstock must not know what celebrities are. Molly has two daughters – Olivia, 17, and Kensley, 6, who have different fathers. Molly claims she was happy being single – that is, until she met a bartender in the Dominican Republic! DR native, Luis, is 26 years old, ready to marry Molly, and obviously has no idea what the hell he’s getting himself into. (See: Danielle and Mohamed, circa seasons 2-4).
Even though Molly and Luis have only spent the sum total of a month together, she’s is sure they’re a perfect match. Plus, she used the Google machine to ask “How do I marry a man from a foreign country?” So…she’s all set.
In Tampa, FL, we meet 26-year old property manager, Elizabeth, who comes from a large family and loves her dog. Elizabeth considers herself the rebel of the family, so naturally, finding a fiance abroad goes with the territory. Her fiance, Andrei, is 31 years old and from Chisinau, Moldova (a country that borders Ukraine and Romania).
The couple found each other on a dating app, met in Dublin (where Andrei is currently living), and decided to take the plunge into engagement shortly afterward. Elizabeth likes Andrei for his “classic alpha male” personality, admitting she finds him intimidating. But he knows how to ballroom dance and has lots of “pizazz,” apparently. He also likes to take dancing selfies in the mirror. Elizabeth thinks these qualities make up for him being kinda scary and mean. Mmmkay.
Also, Elizabeth’s family (especially her dad) think this Andrei dude is baaaaad news. They won’t have to meet him just yet, though, because the K-1 Visa process is taking a long time. Andrei can’t come over to the U.S., so Elizabeth plans to go to Dublin for the interview process first.
YESSS!!! Nicole and Azan are officially back in our lives, people. Let the shoulder-sniffing and body checking against vans begin! In Bradenton, FL, 23-year old Nicole takes care of her 2-year old daughter, May, while she sighs over the love of her life being back in Morocco. Since that cringeworthy trip, in which Azan, 24, avoided Nicole’s public groping like it was his job and encouraged her to expand her cuisine beyond French Fries, the couple have sadly been apart. Nicole was scared they’d never see each other again, but apparently Azan really needs a green card had a change of heart! Because the couple still wants to pursue the K-1 Visa. That Nicole can’t afford.
Since Nicole can’t swing the cost on her own, she’s begging her father, Tyler, to co-sponsor Azan. Mama already denied her delusional a$$! But Tyler is shocked that Nicole hasn’t given up on the Visa, and is now legitimately scared that Nicole will uproot their granddaughter and move to Morocco if he doesn’t give in. Thus, he gives in. They’ll be responsible for Azan for 10 years (whether the couple stays married or not), so this is a major deal. (Again, see: Mohamed and Danielle, a history of madness, mayhem, and 3-ring binders.) “We might be paying for this for a very long time,” warns Nicole’s stepmom, “but you could be paying for it even longer.” Whoa. Two points to stepmom for the truth bomb, yo!
In Louisville, KY, 48-year old David tells his depressing tale of woe. Ugggghhhh. In a nutshell, he was 350 pounds, divorced, lost his house, and had a stroke. Since then, he lost the weight, had a mid-life crisis, moved to Thailand, and found a child bride woman to help him recapture his lost youth. Annie, 24-year old Thai native, said yes to David’s proposal within weeks of knowing him. She comes from a very poor village and was looking for a new life in Bangkok, thus David, who Annie literally refers to as “the old foreigner” (LOLOLOLOL!!!) fits the bill.
“He not perfect, he not handsome,” says Annie, “but his heart is very big.” Also, he is not a serial killer (yet), so – she’s in! Annie loves David 90% too. Not 100%, mind you, but close enough. She’s hoping to live the American dream by flying to the U.S. with her knight in wrinkled khakis, but as David says, “Uh, she hasn’t seen Kentucky yet.”
Now, they’re planning to move back to the America together to get married under the K-1 Visa process. David’s three children and five grandchildren will be thrilled, no doubt, to meet their new stepmom. Who was born in 1993. But before the couple leaves Thailand, Annie’s family requires a dowry. David’s financial situation isn’t up to snuff, though, because he’s fretting about paying $1,500 to Annie’s family for her hand. (This is less than the price of a new furnace in the U.S., just as an FYI to Annie’s family!) This does not bode well for getting their permission. The old foreigner better start a GoFundMe for this sh*t, ASAP.
Back in Tampa, Elizabeth’s family meets at a restaurant for dinner, and to hear her plan to visit Andrei. But Elizabeth doesn’t want to talk about it! Um, even though TLC cameras are literally here for this explicit reason?!? Her family ignores Elizabeth’s request, diving into the topic anyway. Elizabeth’s sister supports her, but her brother is all, OH HELL NO! He thinks she’s naive, and that she knows it might not work out in the end anyway.
Elizabeth’s dad is concerned about the life-long commitment of marriage being on the table, considering his daughter has only known this guy for a brief time. Andrei has also reached out to Elizabeth’s dad to talk, but has been ignored thus far. The family’s stiff-arming of him is only driving the two lovers closer together, but they obviously don’t realize this.
In Thailand, David and Annie are meeting his friends, Chris and Nikki, who are here to keep it real. Chris dances around the issue, but Nikki serves it up straight: David has been trying to entrap a young girl into marriage ever since he landed on Thai soil. In fact, Annie is the THIRD girl he’s tried to woo, but the first to say yes. Oh. Em. Gee. Thank you, Nikki, for your service. You are hereby designated the winner of this episode, if not the entire season. #TeamNikki
At lunch, David fills his friends in on the dowry situation, which makes Annie uncomfortable. It also makes Nikki feel uneasy, since she knows just how much money Chris has given David over the years (and it sounds like too much). She predicts he’ll be asking Chris for more in 3…2…1…
In FL, Nicole is packing for her 2-month trip to Morocco. This time, she’s taking May with her. In a disturbing twist, she’s also teaching May to call Azan “daddy,” which is wrong on every level – and I don’t care if that makes me sound judgy! Not okay, nope. Before they leave, Nicole meets with her mom, dad, their spouses, and her brother for one final dinner. When mama finds out that Nicole’s dad is sponsoring Azan, she wears a look that reads I will kill that man in his sleep. But instead, she just says, “Really?” She cannot believe her ex-husband folded so easily.
She also calls a spade a spade, accusing Nicole of “holding the family hostage” by threatening to take May away. Yup, exactly. Nicole just whines that no one understaaaaaaaands! She wants everyone’s blind support, but doesn’t want to answer their rational questions. Even her younger brother, who wryly notes that “Nicole isn’t the most observant person,” suspects his sister is making another disastrous mistake. No one wants her to take a 2-year old to another country because, let’s face it, Nicole can barely take care of herself at home – even with these five people desperately trying to help her.
We end with Molly getting her makeup done by her eldest daughter, Olivia, who is not excited about Luis coming to visit soon. She doesn’t want her mom to marry some stranger who’s popping up out of nowhere. “I don’t think it’s acceptable,” says Olivia, who thinks her mom has already chosen a man over her children. Apparently, Molly went to the DR instead of taking Olivia to New York in the past, thereby showing her children what her skewed priorities are.
But Molly just stupidly chirps that it will all be great! And Luis thinks she’s beautiful, so isn’t that wonderful?!? Oh my god. This chick is more concerned with Luis thinking she’s pretty than her daughter feeling rejected, which is straight up pathetic. “I just wish that this wasn’t happening,” Olivia tells the cameras, in tears. Poor Olivia! Poor May! These children are the real victims of their parents’ delusional immaturity, which for the folks of 90 Day Fiance, knows no bounds.
