Part 1 of the Southern Charm Season 9 reunion aired last week and it was a dumpster fire. During the first segment, viewers learned that Olivia hooked up with Thomas – total ew. Shep came clean about his issues with drinking. And while vulnerable asked for help from his two best friends, Craig and Austen. Taylor tried to cleanse herself with holy water, but Olivia was having none of it, making sure to tear her down every chance she got. The reunion is set to conclude as the season newcomers Rod and Rodrigo join the group on the tense but velvety couch. Here’s what went down in the Southern Charm Season 9 Reunion, Part 2.
Silence is golden
The reunion picked up after Taylor outed Olivia for her one-night stand with Thomas as the entire cast needed a commercial break. While rushing off stage, viewers could hear Olivia call her backstabbing frienemy a “c***.” Not surprisingly, Shep ran right to his ex’s side to comfort her by telling her, “Look, I know exactly how you feel, but you look really shook. But you’re taking a page out of my book last season, and it’s working.” I mean, how is it that Shep can literally make anything about him?
Evidently, “silence is golden.” Yet I do not see Taylor staying that quiet. As if she heard me thinking this, Taylor clapped back, “Not that I need to be coached up on anything, but thank you.” Kitty has claws. Olivia is seething backstage as she can’t quite grasp why Taylor is bringing things up from the past. Um, because she literally is a bad friend who only looks out for her own well-being, that’s why!
The Charmers are not impressed
At least Shep is saying what we all are thinking, like how did Austen become the player player who drives wedges between people? Taylor is once again crying backstage as she is finally realizing she won’t be salvaging the friendship. More importantly, Craig and Austen both agree that bringing up T-Rav was not helpful what so over if she hoped to fix anything with Austen admitting the move “was so stupid.” That might be the first smart thing he said all season.
Did Austen get a hall pass?
One of the number one questions asked of Olivia was why it looked like Austen had gotten off scot-free when we all know it takes two to tango. The blonde understood why people would think this sharing, “especially after watching everything back.”
Olivia clarified her stance, saying that after talking to Taylor, “I’ve been pulling away because we had so many conversations that were going wrong. She was lying to my face. I felt it. And Austen stepped in at a time when I was very vulnerable and broken.” Of course, Olivia was referencing the tragic loss of her brother, with Austen having gone through the same grief after losing his sister.
Andy was quick to hold Olivia’s feet to the coals, reminding her that “Austen also lied too.” Gobsmacked for a multisecond, Olivia noted, “Yeah, that’s true, and I do understand who it looks like I gave him a hall pass. But I really tried with Taylor, and it didn’t get me anywhere.”
Rodrigo had some neck issues
While Olivia was explaining her side of the story, newbie Rodrigo, who I almost forgot was even on the show, made some dramatic head and eye rolls. It became clear that Olivia expected more from her former best friend as she explained she was thinking about Taylor and recognized she, too, had a hard year. But sadly, Taylor “wasn’t thinking about” her. Rodrigo spoke up in Taylor’s defense, sharing, “I don’t think that’s true.”
Olivia clearly didn’t care as Rodrigo continued saying, “I mean Olivia, I know you don’t care. The problem is I’ve watched her throughout the season, saying she was sorry. She f*cked up. And you keep saying, ‘I’m not trying to kick her when she’s down,’ but girl, I’m watching you do it all the time. Shots fired, Rodrigo! Where was this Rodrigo the entire season? A little too late now.
As she should have, Olivia calmly told him to “shut up” as she moved on with her explanation while Rodrigo, in his most gentleman-like voice, told her to “f*ck off.” Class act right there.
The Charmers are ready to move on
The second part of the Southern Charm reunion showed Austen revealing he and Shep haven’t spoken in a while. The 43-year-old shared, “I hate that I don’t talk to you,” with Austen noting he thought they needed a break. But there is hope, as the Trop Hop founder revealed, “I always will want to move forward with the friendship. I don’t even know what that world looks like to not be great buds with you.”
Even Olivia shared her peace, telling Taylor, “I will not be friends with you, but I’m not going to make this miserable for you; I’m not going to be negative. We can move forward; that doesn’t necessarily mean together.” And hell must have frozen over as JT and Austen even had a chat about the exorcism. Until next time, Charleston.
