Survivor Season 46 recently wrapped up, which symbolized the sixth season of the show’s New Era. It was recently confirmed that Survivor Season 50 will consist of only returning players. Season 50 will most likely have a mix of players from both the New Era and the original run, which is only fitting. The following five players from the New Era would be a great addition to Season 50, so please consider CBS!
Venus Vafa – Season 46
Venus Vafa got the short end of the stick during Season 46, and as a result deserves a second chance on Survivor 50. From the jump, Venus played a strong strategic game and did well during challenges. However, her social game struggled. After the merge, no one wanted to work with Venus although it wasn’t clear why. She genuinely tried to make alliances, but was ultimately blindsided and voted off during the final seven.
Sometimes Survivor cast members get hate from their competitors despite not really doing anything to them. Unfortunately, this was the case for Venus who was outed by many of her fellow castaways for no evidence reason. Venus brought total girl boss energy to Survivor 46, and we really hope to see her return for Season 50!
Q Burdette – Season 46
Quintavius “Q” Burdette is another player from Season 46 who is a perfect choice for Season 50. Q played an interesting game to say the least. At the start of the season he helped to carry his Yanu tribe, and later made it to the merge. This is where things started to get messy for Q, who even asked everyone to vote him out at tribal council one night. Ultimately, Q finished in sixth place, and left with an immunity idol in his pocket.
Despite being a bit of a wildcard at times, Q was extremely entertaining all season long. At one point, Q suggested a game of hide and seek for the sole purpose of finding out everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. It would be a ton of fun to watch Q on another season, as he is one of the most hilarious players in recent Survivor history.
Julie Alley – Season 45
Julie Alley played a great game during Survivor 45, and we would love to see her return for Season 50. Ironically, Julie is 50 herself, and was the oldest contestant on her season. Julie’s age didn’t stop her from dominating the game, where she did well in challenges and formed strong alliances.
Julie also pulled off some impressive blindsides on Survivor 45, and her game was well rounded. If Julie comes back for Survivor 50, she would certainly be a big threat. Please bring her back CBS producers!
Carson Garrett – Season 44
Carson Garrett played a clever game on Survivor 44, where he ended up placing fourth. Unfortunately for Carson, his fire making skills were ultimately what took him down. Carson played an excellent social game, and made allies with almost all of his fellow castaways. His strategy was near perfection from start to finish, and there’s a good chance he would’ve won if he made it to the final three.
If Carson returned for Season 50, he could have the opportunity to redeem himself after Season 44. Hopefully Carson’s fire making has gotten stronger, as it was really the only flaw he showcased all season. Carson’s social game is a big threat, and he could have a lot of influence on Survivor 50 if he is cast.
Ricard Foye – Season 41
Ricard Foye was a highlight during Survivor 41, where he finished in fifth place. While he didn’t make the final four, Ricard still got pretty fair and played a great game. Ricard was a pro at individual immunity challenges, and won immunity more times than any of his fellow castaways. In addition to being a physical threat, Ricard was fairly decent with strategy and pulled off some impressive blindsides.
After finishing in fifth, Ricard deserves another chance at winning Survivor. Ricard would be a great choice for Season 50, as he is well rounded and has a decent shot at going far in the game.
Survivor 50 should include New Era, but not rely on it
Some would say that Survivor 50 should ignore the New Era, but that would feel unfair. There have definitely been players who should get another shot. While there is a lot to fix in regards to the New Era, there’s plenty that has also worked. That’s why we’ve highlighted these five players.
What Survivor 50 also needs to do, however, is lean on its incredible roster of players from the 40 seasons before the New Era hit. We may have seen many of them return multiple times in the past, but there’s a reason for that. They make great television. And as viewers, that’s exactly what we need. Both heroes and villains. As well as all of those in the fuzzy area in-between.
Survivor is available to stream on Paramount+.
