Since the moment Porsha Williams left the Real Housewives of Atlanta two years ago, viewers have been wishing for her return, stopping short of offering their firstborn to the Bravo gods. Porsha first grabbed her peach as newlywed to former NFL star Kordell Stewart. But their marriage didn’t last long once she realized she didn’t just want to be a stay-at-home housewife. The girls initially gave her a hard time, but eventually, Porsha grew into the role.
Throughout her time on the RHOA, fans saw Porsha blossom from a wife to a fiancé to a mother. Her breakup from Kordell was intense. Porsha realized she would now have to be financially responsible, but she eventually got the hang of it. Above everything else, Porsha’s made-for-TV moments have lasted and are now in the clubhouse vault. Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.
The Reunion From Hell
The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 8 reunion was straight out of hell, or what I imagined it would be if I was surrounded by squabbling housewives. Kenya Moore and Porsha were not on the best of terms, but instead of being adults and just ignoring one another, they always upped the game by seeing who would explode first. It turns out that this time, it was Porsha. The drama was bonkers, and I am still letting the altercation live rent-free in my head.
Kenya and Porsha were separated, but the use of props really helped to ignite this fight. The three-part reunion showed Porsha lose her cool after a bullhorn and a scepter were thrust into her personal bubble by the beauty queen. After what looked like a fairy godmother wave of the scepter, Porsha snatched the stick and threw it away. However, Kenya was just warming up. She then proceeded to pull out a bullhorn and yell, “You’re a dumb ho.”
The sticks and stones rules never seem to resonate with any of the housewives as Porsha lept forward, ending up on the floor and then being dragged off stage. The physicality was brutal but a true Porsha moment none the less.
Real vs. Fake Train
I’ve never felt that the American education system was the best in the world, but Porsha’s gaff really proved to me that we may need summer school. In 2013, the Real Housewives of Atlanta took a cast trip to Savannah, Georgia. They stayed in a beautiful (semi-haunted) mansion, toured the town in a carriage, and even got to visit one of the oldest Baptist churches. While there, the ladies also took part in the Freedom Trail Tour. The aforementioned church was one of the stops on the Underground Railroad, which took place during the pre-Civil War era.
The tour guide, who hopefully got a huge tip, explained that the holes in the floor were used for ventilation as slaves would pass under the church in a small four-foot crawl space. The explanation confused Porsha, who evidently was under the impression that the underground railroad was, in fact, a real train. Porsha famously noted, “Well, there has to be an opening for the railroad at some point because somebody’s driving the train. It’s not electric, like what we have now.”
The ladies and tour guide were all left perplexed by the statement, and rightfully so. Phaedra Parks thankfully stepped in to clear up any confusion, telling her friend, “It wasn’t a train, baby. That’s just a euphemism.” Bless Porsha, who noted, “Oh, I’m thinking it was like widespread.”
Porsha The Party Pooper
Before Sutton Stracke refused to sit through a tortuous Magic Mike performance, there was Porsha. Just months out of saying her vows to Kordell, the women were all excited for a night out on the town. The first stop is a strip club. NeNe Leakes, who sued to be a dancer, didn’t think anyone would have a problem with their final destination, but it turns out the sweet, young, and possibly gaslit Porsha did. She timidly noted she wouldn’t be taking part in the festivities because she didn’t want to disrespect her husband.
Even though most of the women mocked her choice, claiming her husband probably wouldn’t be so thoughtful, Porsha stuck to her morals. I have to say I appreciated seeing Porsha stand up for what she believed in. As her time on the Real Housewives of Atlanta came to a close, she really had grown into a true resistance fighter, and I liked that about her.
