It was safe to assume that Vicki Gunvalson and Kelly Dodd were not be upset when they found out Heather Dubrow would not be returning to Real Housewives of Orange County. She did not get along with Kelly from the jump and she was on Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador’s side of their feud against Vicki.
Now we don’t have to just assume that Vicki and Kelly were happy that Heather left the show because they both just confirmed the sentiment.
In an interview with People, Kelly claimed that she hesitated doing a second season of the show because of Heather’s presence. Kelly said, “I was, like, not going to do it. Just because, you know, I thought Heather was going to be there and she’s kind of a snob.” Out of all of the enemies Kelly has made in this cast, Heather was far from the worst. Still, Kelly maintained, “Once I found out she wasn’t coming back then I was like, ‘Okay, I’m doing it.’
Vicki wasn’t nearly as harsh as Kelly was when she discussed Heather’s departure for Bravo’s The Daily Dish. Vicki said, “Heather left, obviously, this season. And for me it was fine.” Well, duh. One less person to call Vicki out on her shit and keep bringing up drama from two seasons ago.
Vicki continued, “I didn’t really appreciate what Heather did last year. She got on the bandwagon of Tamra and Shannon. Heather and I had always had a really great relationship. And I support and condone and appreciate her show with Terry [Dubrow] with Botched and all. But when she started getting into the mean girl sector, it really took me off guard because I had a really great relationship with Heather. So, for me, it was time to get the mean girl separated a little bit.” Other than the way she treated Kelly in the van on the way to the airport in Ireland (which Heather apologized for at the reunion), Heather was far from the mean girl of last season.
Still, Vicki confirmed that she has nothing with Heather these days when she said, “Heather sent me a text the morning that she decided not to join this season, and that was the last I heard from her.” That sure says a lot. Not only that, but Vicki made it clear that the two of them were never more than just costars when she said, “So we never really kept in touch, anyway. We were very vanilla, we were very dear to each other, but I wouldn’t call us close friends.”
