If you thought that the story lines we see on Real Housewives of Dallas are dramatic, you don’t even know the half of it. Apparently a lot of brutal things go down behind the scenes.
D’Andra Simmons revealed that one of her costars tormented her about her weight and even threatened to use that as a story line on camera- which makes no sense since it would have just made her look like an evil bully for torturing D’Andra- and that’s probably why we never saw it play out on camera.
In an interview for the Reality Life With Kate Casey podcast, D’Andra revealed, “There is a lot of Adderall going around I think, with these women.”
She continued, “I’ll tell you an interesting story. When I did my tape I was overweight and I have struggled with my weight my entire life. My biggest fear is I was going to be made fun of because of my weight.” D’Andra shared, “It was very stressful because there was a cast member that was saying I was fat and she was going to use that against me on the show. I felt like she was getting her other friends on the show to use that as well.”
Unfortunately D’Andra wouldn’t name the bully in this scenario, but it definitely wasn’t either of her besties Kameron Westcott or LeeAnne Locken, so that just leaves the ladies who were sitting on the other couch at the reunion: Cary Deuber, Brandi Redmond, or Stephanie Hollman. Which one of them was the ringleader?
D’Andra confessed, “I almost wish that she did do it because it would have given me such a great addition to my story line because most woman struggle with their weight at some point in their lives.” I also just want to know who is the person who actually thought this was an acceptable thing to do for a story line on a reality TV show.
D’Andra also discussed her breast reduction, saying “At the reunion, in the first part they said ‘how many people have had boob jobs?’ and I didn’t raise my hand because I had a breast reduction. I want smaller breasts because I like fashionable clothes and if you have big boobs, you can’t wear them.”
D’Andra explained why prefers to promote the show away from the big cities like Los Angeles and New York City: “I have been traveling to smaller cities and doing the local press there because I found that those are the people that really watch the show, care about the show, and get invested in you as a person on the show. They love your stories and they want to hear more. I like to go meet those people. I love the fact that I’ve met so many of them and they’ve been so kind to me. It’s important to me to keep the relationships with Midwest or wherever in small town America.”
D’Andra continued, “I love to take photos with people. I love to meet them. I want to know their names and why they watch the show. I want to thank them for watching the show. That’s truly how I feel in my heart.” That’s actually really sweet and refreshing to hear that she’s not letting the attention go to her head.
Someone who’s been getting a lot of negative attention this year is D’Andra’s girl Kameron. D’Andra said, “I think she has been treated very unfairly this year. She has had a lot of negative commentary thrown at her.” She confessed, “It bothers her a little bit. It doesn’t bother her as much as it bothers me.” D’Andra insisted, “She’s a really fun, loving, wonderful person, and hopefully if we come back, they can see her next season.” You never know, most people hated Camille Grammer during her first season on RHOBH and she made major turnaround during Season 2- Maybe the same thing can happen for Kameron and her pink dog food?
D’Andra discussed the behind-the-scenes logistics of shooting the reunion episodes. She shared, “Going into the reunion, I was the only one allowed to wear a jumpsuit, which I thought was kind of cool. Bravo wanted me to wear a jumpsuit.” Wait. What? Bravo has a say in the reunion outfit choices? Now I have to reevaluate my thoughts when I share my opinions on those looks. D’Andra explained, “They choose the outfits and they came to me and said, ‘They want you to wear a jumpsuit.’ They came to me and said ‘What colors do you like? This is what the color palette is.’ Then they sent the clothes to me.” Very interesting.
The real issue at the reunion was Mark Deuber’s surprise appearance which led to LeeAnne walking off the set for a minute. D’Andra revealed that they had an in person meeting with production the night before the reunion and said, “That’s when they told us that no husbands were allowed when in fact Cary’s husband was coming. I was very disappointed.” She continued, “Just tell me it’s going to happen because it’s not fair to pull a surprise like that.” It definitely wasn’t, but they clearly just wanted to capture a raw reaction from LeeAnne.
D’Andra said, “[LeeAnne] knew they were coming in to just slaughter her for the rest off the day.” Which is what ended up happening. D’Andra added, “That’s why she walked off. I think it was right of her to walk off. She needed to cool down.”
