Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days was like a gift from the reality TV gods. Between the desperation, delusion and the secrets, I was on the edge of my seat. I often wonder do these people have no relationship/people experience. Why do they do these stupid things and believe that they will get positive results. But I am starting to realize, me trying to compare their actions with rational people, is what is crazy.
Usman Umar asks for his mother’s blessing for a marriage to Lisa Hamme . Varya Malina shows Geoffrey Paschel her hometown. Ed Brown spends the night from hell at Rose’s house. Ash Naeck & Avery Warner tour the outback. David continues his quest to meet Lana. Let’s get straight into the 90 Day Fiance Before the 90 Days recap!
Lisa, 52 (York, Pa.) & Usman “SojaBoy,” 30 (Nigeria)
Usman and Lisa travel to his hometown to seek his mother’s approval for marriage. On the way there, they stop at a market to buy a goat. After hearing the price, Lisa thinks she is being ripped off because she is white. Usman assures her that she is getting a normal price and hurries her away from the market after buying their gift. He helps her get dressed in traditional African garb to impress his mother and convince her she doesn’t want her son to become a slave in America. I think it’s going to take a lot more than an outfit to convince Usman’s mother. Given Lisa’s controlling behavior, I’m not even convinced Lisa doesn’t have an ulterior motive.
Lisa finally meets Usman’s family and although they are polite, they clearly aren’t impressed. LMAO! It’s obvious Mama Usman only wants to know why this lady is at her home. In effort to make his “baby love” look desirable, Usman even tells his family she is a doctor rather than a hospice caregiver. When he finally reveals their intention to marry, he is met with an immediate no. His mother even walks away from Usman when he attempts to find out why.
Mama might as well have told them, leave the goat, but get Lisa out of here! Usman, you brought a non-Nigerian woman who looks older than your mother that your family has never heard about, until she showed up. What did he expect to happen? Either way I was thoroughly entertained to see Lisa forced to be quiet. We all know she wanted to curse his mother out.
Geoffrey, 41 (Knoxville, Tenn.) & Varya, 30 (Russia)
Varya takes Geoffrey on a tour of her hometown in hopes he will get to know her better. While out Geoffrey finally confesses to his criminal past. Varya is shocked to learn that he has been keeping this from her, all this time. She is especially upset that his crime of selling drugs, played a role in hurting people, like her cousin who died from drugs. Geoffrey is such a hypocrite. He has gotten upset numerous times with Varya for not being completely honest, yet he has his own secrets. Varya admits if he had told her the truth in the beginning, she wouldn’t have started a relationship with him. Frustrated, she gets up and leaves Geoffrey and the conversation.
Ed, 54 (San Diego) & Rosemarie, 23 (Philippines)
Ed is totally out of his comfort zone in Rose’s meager home. What is he to do, with no mayo for his hair or his 1,000 thread count sheets? Things get even more awkward when Rose’s father decides he wants to sleep in the room with them. When the electricity goes out during a rainstorm, Ed begins to question Rose’s true intentions once again. He can’t help but to think he could be Rose’s ticket to a better life. Well duh! I’m sure she can see herself lying on a comfortable bed in America with Ed’s money.
Ed wakes up completely miserable after spending the night in rain soaked bed at Rose’s home. He decides that he can’t endure another night and asks her to join him at a hotel for a few days. Rose accepts, but is disappointed he isn’t spending time with her son. Things get even weirder when Ed is forced to take a joint cold shower with Rose’s father. Then Ed almost has a heart attack when he sees a rat cuddling up to his flip flops. I can’t lie, I would have high tailed it out of that house as well.
Rose’s dad takes Ed and his daughter to the pig farm that he owns. Ed is all the way out of his league at the farm, but it’s hilarious. He puts plastic bags on his precious sneakers to protect them from the mud and pig excrement, but still manages to keep slipping around the farm. He is alarmed when he realizes her father sleeps in a small shack among the pigs. Smh… This family definitely is waiting on Ed to become their payday.
Ed can barely contain his glee when he receives Rose’s dad’s permission for them to go to a hotel. Ed’s delicate skin and hair will thank him, when he finally gets back to air conditioning and a bed.
Avery, 32 (Seattle) & Ash, 38 (Australia)
Ash takes Avery on a crocodile cruise to bring out her playful side. Despite the good time, Avery is not one to be distracted from all of their relationship issues. Ash finally confesses that he is still working on getting his ex-wife to meet her. Avery is questioning whether Ash is avoiding the meeting so she can’t ask his ex about her true thoughts about their son going to the U.S. I highly doubt this woman just doesn’t care if her son goes to another country where she won’t be able to readily see him.
Stephanie, 29 (New York) & Erika, 24 (Australia)
After a disastrous dinner the night before, Erika Owens takes Stephanie Matto to meet her friends and family. The drive to her hometown is over four hours away and you can cut the tension with a knife. Erika is concerned with Stephanie’s trust and control issues as a free spirited person. Honestly, I don’t think there is anything wrong with Stephanie asking about Erika having a dating app. I also don’t blame her for being uncomfortable with Erika talking about their fight with her friends, while she is still there. That would make me uneasy knowing right before I meet her friends, they are judging me based on a recent argument. Stephanie obviously didn’t go about addressing her issues in the best way, but her concerns were valid.
Erika takes Stephanie to meet one of her friends for drinks. The tension between the two is more than obvious. Stephanie’s insecurity starts to show, when she asks about Erika dating some friends, that she will later meet. When Stephanie goes to the bathroom, Erika confesses that things aren’t going as she expected to her friend. She is a bit thrown off by the lack of affection and jealously.
Stephanie addresses the elephant in the room when she and Erika return to the hotel. Erika has been extremely quiet but she gets emotional about their issues. Stephanie has an emotional breakdown when she is confronted with their problems. Instead of being honest about why she is guarded, she just plays the victim. After having enough of not being heard, Erika storms out of the hotel. Whew, this simply isn’t going to work. Stephanie, you don’t have to have sex to be affectionate with your girlfriend. Erika literally started crying and you just sat there and stared at her. Umm… give the girl a hug, maybe cuddle, do something other than make demands.
David, 60 (Nevada) & Lana, 27 (Ukraine)
David is still obsessed with his catfish; Lana that he decides to venture to what he believes is her hometown. After being ditched for the fourth time by his mystery woman, he continues to pursue what I believe is a man in his mother’s basement. If I flew thousands of miles to meet someone and they didn’t meet me ONCE, that would be the last time. This man continues to waste time and money on someone who will only talk to him on a paid site.
David arrives at the town that Lana lives in and after a difficult trip. Instead of going to the address he has for her, he decides to aimlessly walk around and go to places he thinks she may frequent. He is shocked that an employee at a candy store Lana talks about often, didn’t know her. When he returns to his hotel, he is elated to when he receives a message from Lana saying “Do you still want to meet for a photo, relationship and visa?” Chile please! You can’t make this stuff up. I am really starting to question David’s sanity.
Darcey, 45(Connecticut) & Tom, 39 (England)
Tom Brooks claims he regrets some of the harsh things he said to Darcey Silva during their meeting. In an effort to stretch his camera time, he calls his sister to vent. Instead of telling the truth, he plays innocent as if he didn’t try to ambush and embarrass Darcey. Get this guy off of my television, he is a disgrace!
Meanwhile, Darcey is in her room crying after being made a fool of by a man she loves for the second time on national TV. Cheer up sis, both guys weren’t attractive anyway. You can do slightly better than a lollipop head and Mr. Bean.
TELL US- DO YOU THINK USMAN THOUGHT HIS MOTHER WOULD GIVE HER BLESSING OR WAS HE SECRETLY HOPING SHE WOULD END THINGS WITH LISA? IS STEPHANIE JEALOUS OR DOES SHE HAVE VALID CONCERNS? IS ED A SPOILED AMERICAN OR WOULD YOU HAVE LEFT ROSE’S HOUSE TOO? SHOULD GEOFFREY HAVE CONFESSED HIS PRISON PAST TO VARYA EARLIER? IS DAVID CRAZY?
