Real Housewives Of Atlanta Recap: Working Girls

On last night’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, the ladies struggled to find balance in their various friendships as they opened up about painful pasts and future realities.

Suddenly Gregg and NeNe Leakes are in love. Is it because he now has a job being part of the American Cancer Society as an ambassador? Whatever the case, NeNe is just thrilled to see Gregg. She tells him this great tale of revisionist history about what happened in Greece.

NeNe was just this poor innocent bystander, trying to be kind and compassionate when “KEN” would not stop picking at her. NeNe conveniently leaves out the part of the story where she spit on Kenya Moore. Also she threw the popcorn cause girls gotta eat. According to Gregg, NeNe has extended so many olive branches to Kenya Moore that she practically gave her a whole orchard.

NeNe’s latest problem with Kenya is that after she’s trash-talked, and meddled in everyone’s marriage and family situation for years and now Kenya’s marriage is off limits. Well not where NeNe is concerned! When karma comes a’knocking, karma is here to stay as your house guest, BITCH. Honestly though, NeNe is correct and I loved the editor’s shady flashbacks of Kenya being horrendous.

Across town, Kandi Burruss is trying (and failing ) to find a work/life balance. Their baby is due in 7 weeks. Yet, she’s still jetting off to Chicago for 4 weeks to film for her new show The Chi. What Kandi’s really running towards is the goal of sanctioned cheating via a sex scene on the new show.

Kandi has only been away a couple days when Todd and Ace call to say hello. The second Ace sees Kandi over FaceTime, he bursts into tears about missing her. Kandi: STAY HOME

Cynthia Bailey drops by SWAGG Boutique to reassure NeNe that she and Kandi planned a light-hearted and fun tribute in Greece. Cynthia gets so carried away acting the way she wishes NeNe behaved (without mentioning any of the bad parts). As she is walking her over-exaggerated court jester routine into the parking lot, a woman in a black SUV pulls up. It’s Cynthia’s conscience! Just kidding… it’s Porsha Williams. Porsha and NeNe are still neighbor. Porsha” just happened to be in the same plaza” and saw Cynthia reenacting Kenya’s Gone With The Wind fabulous scene, so she had to stop to chat.

Coincidentally (eye roll), Cynthia and NeNe are both wearing leopard print.

Porsha reminds them that she has a March of Dimes fundraiser coming up and they better be there dressed like a gay pride flag (aka rainbow). Porsha is now an ambassador for the organization since she can share her story of the time she had a miscarriage.

Kenya visits her estate planner to discuss completely cutting Marc Daly out of the will. Even if Kenya dies, he gets custody of Brooklyn, but no monetary gain. Kenya cries to her estate planner who has one emotion: stoic. She doesn’t react at all when Kenya sobs about how badly she wants her marriage to work. In the event that she dies, Kenya has decided her Aunt Lisa will inherit custody of Brooklyn and all financial matters.

Kenya invites Lisa over to explain all of the details and tell her the good news. Lisa is gracious and kind about it. Then, she promises that if it comes to this she’ll raise Brooklyn the way they were raised: to be ladies. Um, what part of Kenya is a lady? Interestingly, Kenya is so over Marc that she doesn’t even want him in her house when he’s visiting to see Brooklyn. Marriage bridge = burned!

Eva Marcille finally did something this season! Although we still didn’t get to see it on camera. What Eva did was have another baby. This one is named Maverick and he’s adorable.

Cynthia comes over to meet the baby. Thankfully, he sleeps through all her long rambling explanations about everything that happened in Greece. Eva is shocked when Cynthia tells her how Kenya accused her of knowing less about wine than your average high school senior. Boone’s Farm Strawberry Fields is a rose, y’all. Cynthia insists she’s over it after speaking with Kenya. Then, she complains about NeNe being annoyed that Cynthia lets Kenya get away with murder while holding NeNe to a different standard. Cynthia disagrees. And so do I. Anyone – literally anyone – Cynthia is friends with gets treated with ‘do no wrong’ kid gloves!

Dispelling the myth that she’s Kenya’s puppet, Cynthia shares that NeNe was initially willing and receptive to move past issues with Kenya – especially in light of her impending divorce – but Kenya refused to meet halfway. She wouldn’t even entertain Cynthia’s suggestion that they try to work it out.

Finally, Porsha hosts a charity event for March Of Dimes. I am so confused about how classy and legit charities are willing to get involved with Real Housewives Of Atlanta. I imagine that in her invitation to this event, Porsha had to put a smackdown demanding these women behave or else they’d be fined $10,000.

Things start to go a little to the left with NeNe, who has finally FINALLY come to one of Porsha’s events! But only, probably, because she wants to talk shit about Kenya on camera. Specifically, Kenya’s imploding marriage. Just that day it hit the blogs that Marc had several affairs while married and may have even had a secret family. NeNe is on cloud 9 over the irony that Kenya was flaunting the Cookie Lady and throwing her in Tanya Sam‘s face when her own husband was running around. NeNe advises Tanya to go find one of Marc’s mistresses and bring her right on over to Kenya’s house!

Porsha, trying to keep a classy facade although the gossip is literally affixing to her scalp like a Go Naked wig, says that she doesn’t’ know if the Marc story is true, so she’s not going to claim it either way. She just wants it on record that she is not talking shit. Interestingly, Kenya is still wearing her wedding ring.

Meanwhile, Kandi admits to having issues with Todd and work. Todd is supportive of her acting career but he drew the line when he realized she filmed a racy sex scene. The scene was less sexy and more “one hand here, then a leg there, then get on top. Now pretend! ACTION.” Still, Todd isn’t comfortable with it.

Finally, the ladies sit down to lunch and Porsha shares the story of a miscarriage she suffered while married to Kordell. Then, Porsha invites all the other ladies to share. Tanya opens up about the difficulties of conceiving at a later age due to low egg reserves. Marlo Hampton reveals that due to some traumas early in life she was left unable to have her own children. She had two ectopic pregnancies and gave up. She has never felt comfortable opening up to the women about her life and past, until she legally adopted her two nephews and become a “muntie.” Now, she understands the vulnerability of motherhood. Very sweet.

Shamea Morton tells everyone how when her water broke she went to the hospital and had a failed epidural. Her labor was traumatic and she wound up with a c-section. Then, she got a huge blood clot. She thinks about how she could’ve almost died. Kenya takes this pivotal moment to interrupt to share how Shamea called her after her water broke for advice. Porsha is shocked that they are that close. Since this is March Of Dimes, Porsha lets it go, but it is stored in this tiny factoid of her brain called “KENYA BELONGS ON THE CURB.”

Lastly, Kandi is back in Atlanta for 2 days. She has completely booked her very limited schedule with events. Todd is irritated. He feels Kandi should be spending time with their family, and also him. Especially since soon they’ll have a newborn coming. A newborn that Kandi wants to put on a tour bus and drive to Chicago with her so she can still work without sacrificing bonding time. Errrmmm…

Before she left for Chicago, Kandi suggested to Todd that they get counseling. He told her to pick a date and time since she’s the busy one whereas he’s just at home, putting his goals and dreams on hold, to play daddy daycare. Now his rage has boiled over. He tells Kandi that he always feels like second fiddle to her.

To appease everyone – ahem, Mama Joyce – who thinks he’s a gold digging opportunist Todd gave up working in TV to focus on building the Kandi Korporation brand, including the restaurants. It’s not at all what he wants to do and Todd is completely unhappy. Moreover, he feels he has to make the sacrifice to present a united front for their family.

In exchange, Todd wants Kandi to at least acknowledge this, or him. But, instead, she’s so focused on her career it’s like that’s her husband. Uh oh… It looks like Kandi’s money can’t buy Todd happiness after all. Not a good time to be adding the stress of a new baby!

Porsha Williams & Cynthia Bailey Are On Watch What Happens Live Tonight

As we are all aware, we are living in some tough times these days. At least, we have some entertaining TV shows to watch while we are social distancing and staying safe in our homes.

As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Watch What Happens Live has been filming new episodes via video chat. Andy Cohen hosts from the safety of his New York City apartment. And different guests video chat in from wherever they are. Although it’s great to see the stars glammed up with pounds of hair extensions and self-tanner, this filming from home thing definitely has some advantages. For instance, there are no travel schedules to consider. This means that it is possible to have premium guests every single night.

On tonight’s episode, Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey will be chatting with Andy. I’m sure we can expect some shady questions for Cynthia about her frenemy NeNe Leakes. She is very likely to spew some flawed logic in an attempt to explain her blind loyalty to Kenya Moore.

Porsha will probably give some non-answers about her on-again-off-again relationship with Dennis McKinley. Then again, this is a quarantine. And since she’s recently renewed her membership as a card-carrying member of Team NeNe, I’m expecting some Kenya-related shade from her too.

Kenya Moore Shares More Marriage Problems On Real Housewives Of Atlanta Tonight

We did not get a new Real Housewives of Atlanta episode last week. Thankfully, the ladies are back tonight, ready to entertain us all while we socially distance at home.

Now that the RHOA cast is back from Greece, they have to face their problems back at home. Kenya Moore admits that she was “in the dark” about a lot of things in her marriage to Marc Daly. Even though she wants Marc to see their daughter, she says he’s not allowed in Moore Manor. Kenya also shares a really strange fun fact: she’s not allowed to speak to Marc’s parents. Unless Marc isn’t in touch with them himself, that’s a major red flag. Don’t you think? Have they ever met baby Brooklyn?

Kenya isn’t the only one with some marital problems though. Todd Tucker is not thrilled with Kandi Burruss because she shot a sex scene for a scripted TV show. Their son Ace Tucker cries to Kandi on FaceTime because he misses her so much. That clip in the preview pretty much gutted me.

NeNe Leakes is still seething from her contentious interactions with Kenya in Greece. She’s livid with Kenya for asking that the women act considerately during her split from Marc even though she’s talked trash on almost all of their marriages. NeNe says, “Bitch, have you forgotten you’ve talked about everybody’s marriage?” And, the editors do what they do best: sharing flashbacks of Kenya meddling in the women’s marriages throughout the years.

New Netflix Show “Too Hot To Handle” Has Contestants That Can’t Kiss, Hook Up Or Have Self-Gratification To Win Cash Prize

Do you miss Love is Blind? I definitely had a hangover from watching so many episodes in a row. But quarantine left me no other option but to get sucked in. With that said, I was pretty invested and felt like it was an enjoyable show. I even find myself following up on how all the couples are doing, as they are giving us plenty of content lately. It’s even been renewed for a second and third season.

Aside from Love is Blind, I have been a pretty big Netflix fan in general. Tiger King rocked my world, y’all. I am still reeling from it. But Netflix is going back to the dating show formula and is working on a new show that’s got quite the interesting premise.

According to Cosmopolitan, Netflix is set to come out with a new dating series with a twist, aptly named Too Hot To Handle. What does that even mean? Well, the premise of the show is that contestants can’t have any casual hooking up. At all.

The official synopsis of the show clarifies, “10 young, hot singles from around the world come together in a seaside paradise for what they think will be the most exotic and erotic summer of their lives— but there’s a twist. These commitment-phobes who love a casual hook-up, will have to give up all hanky panky for the entire retreat if they want to win the $100,000 grand prize.”

It goes on, “No kissing, no heavy petting, and no self-gratification of any kind. With every slip, the prize money goes down. In this luxury no-bone zone, will the serial singletons be able to form deeper emotional connections? Or will the temptation simply be too hot to handle?” But the whole idea of abstaining isn’t just in theory. The more contestants break the rules, the more prize money they lose. So they have quite the incentive to keep their hands to themselves.

Yahoo is also reporting on the new show, calling it a cross between Love is Blind and the popular British series Love Island. There isn’t a trailer or info on the cast just yet. However, Too Hot To Handle with premiere on April 17th.

As an old school America’s Next Top Model fan, I was pumped when I found out Eva Marcille was joining Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, she disappointed me with her performance. Minus that one read aimed at Marlo Hampton during last season’s Tokyo trip, Eva hasn’t made an impact. She has tried the most, yet she’s come through the least.

She came on as a friend of NeNe Leakes. However, she’s on NeNe’s bad side these days. NeNe publicly stated that the current RHOA cast is great the way it is, except for Eva. Yes, she even thinks that Kenya Moore should stay on this show. And we all NeNe cannot stand Kenyaknow that . Lately, it’s been a bit tough to side with NeNe on anything, but I’m backing her on this one. Eva brings zero to the table. And, of course, Marlo is backing NeNe as well, just like she always does.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marlo said, “Listen, I don’t like for anyone not to have a job but, I’m not gonna lie, I would love to take her position.” Marlo also said, “I would definitely — my fans would be so excited, they would love it. But I don’t want Eva to lose her job. I don’t want her to have financial hardships again, and I’m glad that she has her position.” Even when Marlo is attempting to be caring and diplomatic, she still manages to throw in some shade about Eva’s finances.

Marlo continued, “But, yeah, NeNe definitely feels that way. She just feels that she doesn’t bring it like the rest of us bring it. Eva is more of a diva with the producers. As in, ‘I’m doing this…’ or ‘I’m not doing that…’ or, ‘No.’ She’s just… it’s like, girl, this isn’t L.A. this is ATL, you know? We got a little hood in us, a little bit. We bring it.” I wish she elaborated more on Eva’s diva behavior with the producers. Who does Eva think she is?

Well, unlike Marlo, Eva is a full-time cast member. Somehow. Eva replied to NeNe’s shade on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Eva said, “I’m a 35-year-old woman with my family and beautiful husband. As far as my relevance on the show, I choose not to… every single day be ratchet, there is already enough ratchet, i.e. her, on the show. Why do you need two? I do me, and represent the other part of Black women that are smart … well-spoken. That’s who I represent. So, if I’m that boring, you spent time in your interview talking about me because your storyline is the fact that you have no storyline.”

NeNe has no storyline? In what universe does NeNe have no storyline? NeNe has feuded with every single cast member this season. Even when NeNe wasn’t in an episode, she was the main topic of conversation. Always. What does Eva have going on? NeNe has been so polarizing in recent years, but no one can honestly say that Eva brings more to the show than NeNe does. Ever.

OJ Simpson Says There’s “No Shred Of Doubt” That Tiger King Star Carole Baskin Killed Husband; Wonders “What’s With White People & Wild Animals”

If you didn’t watch Tiger King, I want to know what you’ve been watching in quarantine. Even OJ Simpson is sharing his two cents on Tiger King.

Specifically, he has shared his thoughts about whether or not Carole Baskin killed her second husband Don Lewis. The irony in OJ giving his analysis on this topic is not lost on me. Not at all.

OJ shared a video of himself on the golf course with Twitter users. He began, “I just got back from the golf course, where I actually played pretty well. Now, it’s back to home, back to the couch, and back to television. Listen, I’ve had so many people on my case, asking me to watch some show called Tiger King. Well, yesterday I watched this show.” And just like the rest of us, he has some strong opinions about it.

OJ wondered, “And oh my god, is America in this bad of shape?” We’re in a quarantine, man. Most of us have gone through all of our TV options at this point.

He continued, “I watched about six episodes of this show and I couldn’t even believe what I was looking at. White people, what’s with you and wild animals? Leave them animals alone. This show is crazy. But, it’s so crazy, you kind of keep watching.” He’s not the only one who couldn’t stop watching. That’s for sure.

OJ concluded, “One thing I will say [is] there’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that lady’s husband is tiger sashimi right now. I’m just sayin’. Take care and I hope you find something better to watch.”
