Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X Episode 12 Recap: Millennial In The Middle

Survivor

Survivor

Coming on the heels of last week’s tremendously awesome double-episode that ended in a emotional rock draw, it would be asking a lot of Survivor to give us an episode with the same level of intensity the very next week. Well, it sure did its damnedest. This season continues to bring the heat, as every single one of the remaining players has clearly come to play. Now, nobody said come to play “good,” as mistakes and poor strategic game-play has driven much of the drama these past few episodes. But it was once again riveting. Survivor shows no signs of stopping as it barrels its way towards the finale in a couple weeks.

Last night’s episode was the famed “loved ones” episode, which is a milestone for most contestants playing the game to make it to this point. Let’s dive in, trying not to get stuck in the sand. The recap is forthcoming, following your normal “turn back, this is your last spoiler warning” warning.

S33_Ep12_SG_106

So boom went the dynamite! Zeke went from fan-favorite and future All-Star status, to despised by many as recently as last week, to out of the game. Even within the game, Zeke transformed from goofy outsider on his tribe, to the man that was clearly running the show out there. That’s never a good position to be in, and when everybody is commenting as to how you are poised to win the game should you make it to the end, things are bound to blow up in your face at some point.

Yes, Zeke was bound to get ousted eventually given his reputation in the game, especially when you are talking about a group of contestants that are playing as hard as these ones are. If it wasn’t clear before last week, it certainly was after, as the Zeke vs. David battle caused serious damage for both sides of the equation. On one hand, David’s Army clearly lost the battle when Jessica ended up picking the black rock, but Zeke’s game was aired out for all to see. It’s now fair to say that David may have lost that initial battle, but he has won the war. That’s part of why I love Survivor so much…after last week, who in their right mind would have predicted that not only would Zeke not outlast David, but that he’d be the next one to go?

Last night’s episode though was all about Adam. What an emotional episode for the young Millennial. When Probst announced at the Reward Challenge that it was the “loved ones” Challenge, every single person about lost it. Adam though, getting to hug and reunite with his brother, had even more at stake. His mom was sick at home battling cancer when he was cast on the show, and we have seen throughout this season just how much his mom is on his mind. Meeting up with his brother, he was able to get an update on her condition after 31 days in the game. Remember, too, that Adam possessed a game advantage that allowed him to steal another person’s Reward. In an effort that was from the heart, but also had to be partly strategic, Adam announced to everyone that he had no intention whatsoever to use his power to steal a loved one out of the arms of any of the others. A classy move. More on Adam in a bit.

Jay would go on to win the Reward Challenge, winning a BBQ feast for him and his loved one, his sister. Because Probst likes messing with people’s heads, Jay was able to pick three other players and their loved ones – picking them one at a time – to join him. He first picked Will and his mom, and then Sunday and her husband. Lastly, he chose Adam and his brother, because he admired that Adam could have stolen Jay’s reward but didn’t. Karma returned to Adam in a good way in that regard.

S33_Ep12_SG_104

Stepping away from the game for a brief moment, it brings me no pleasure to report that despite getting an update from his brother that his mom was still battling cancer, since the show was taped, Adam‘s mother Susie has passed away…just two days following the Final Tribal Council of this season. That’s roughly two weeks after the events of this episode. I personally would like to send Adam and his family my condolences, but if you are looking to help, Adam has started a Memorial Fund to raise awareness for lung cancer, which is what his mom succumbed to. The #LiveLikeSusie Memorial Fund for Lung Cancer Research has so far received $35,000 towards its goal of $50,000.

I thought that was important to share, but let’s get back to the episode and the game. After last week, we knew that we had a clear 5-4 split moving forward. The majority alliance was made up of Zeke‘s army: Zeke, Bret, Sunday, Jay and Will. The minority was now David, Ken, Hannah and Adam. So these next few votes should be predictable right? Ah, not this season.

Will – who has been portrayed as somewhat of a follower and as a fairly quiet player thus far – burst onto the scene in a big way this week. Will decided he wanted to flip and vote Zeke out, in an effort to bolster his Survivor resume. It was a good thought, because who would ever vote for Will to win the game at this point? Acting as a double-agent, he learned that Zeke’s army was poised to vote out Ken, fearing that David may have another Idol. Will showed his loyalty to his new group by telling Ken that he was the one the others were gunning for.

But dammit Ken! Everybody’s favorite gentle, polite male model showed an utter lack of game knowledge with what could be considered one of the most boneheaded moves of the season. After Will told him that the other side was gunning for him, and after lecturing Will on the importance of integrity and trust, Ken – unwittingly I’m guessing – decided to blow up Will’s game completely. Ken approached Jay and told him that he heard he was the target from Will, and all hell broke loose. Why Ken why? As a fan of the show, this move definitely added some drama and some story, but it was unneeded and unnecessary drama. As a chain of events, had Ken not said anything, Adam would not have had to use his Idol and Ken’s alliance would be in a better spot.

S33_Ep12_SG_084-1

A word on Ken: I like the dude as much as the next person (OK, some of you clearly like him way more than I ever can), but he proved to me that he has an absolute zero chance of winning the game. You can add Hannah to this category as well. Both of these players are flailing their respective ways through the game, and Ken’s blunder is surely a strike on his resume. In a season where everyone is playing balls-to-the-wall, a player like Ken is not going to win the game, not when he shows such a lack of in-game awareness. The thing about Ken is that he is so likable, that even though he can’t win, nobody is going to want to sit next to him in the end simply because he is such a good guy, so he will likely be taken out before that point. Hannah on the other hand, with each passing vote where she remains in the game, is becoming a stronger and stronger candidate for Survivor Goat.

Last week’s episode was so epic, that I did forget to mention (and so I am now) that Ken now possesses the “Legacy Advantage,” willed to him by Jessica, which we will find out more about in the coming weeks. And what a great moment when Hannah’s crush on Ken grew to include his brother too, when he came out for the loved ones challenge and she blushed, “Oh my God they’re both so handsome!”

S33_Ep12_SG_122

Adam ended up winning the #ImmunityChallenge and it all came down to Will: Would he “stick to the plan” and try to earn his “big move” by voting out Zeke, or would he vote out Ken, who just threw him under the bus, whether he intended to or not? Zeke knew that something was up when he saw the minority acting a bit too calm leading up to Tribal. And at Tribal, all was laid bare. Fearing that Will sided with Zeke’s alliance, Adam shocked the world by playing his hidden Immunity Idol on Hannah, and it worked…kind of. It negated four votes against her, but if Will had sided with Zeke, there should have been five votes. Yep, that means that Will ended up voting out Zeke after all, his big move realized. You can call this a “wasted Idol,” but it was clear that at that point in the game, nobody except Will knew exactly what Will was going to do. That still might be the case moving forward.

Will, you have to remember, is the youngest player to ever play Survivor, and with that inexperience comes the inevitability that mistakes will be made. Just like a great leader never should refer to himself as a great leader, a Survivor resume should speak for itself. By Will drawing attention to his desire to “make big moves” and to be “calling the shots,” he is actually doing his game a disservice. But give the kid credit at the same time, because his intuition served him right: He had no shot at winning the game had he just sat back and let others dictate the game for him. He had to do something. So kudos to Will, and hey who knows, he’s still in the game and as we’ve seen thus far through 12 episodes: Anything in Survivor is possible.

S33_Ep12_SG_063

Episode Take-Away: I could see it coming that Zeke was going to face a tough road to get to the end, but never did I imagine he’d be voted out now. I’m still loving how this cast is playing fast and loose with their Idols, and how every single one of them seems fearless when it comes to making big moves. We are now down to eight players vying for the million bucks and title of Sole Survivor. Ironically with Zeke out of the game, it’s now David who I think people are going to look at and say, “There’s no way we let David make it to the end, because David wins if he’s sitting there.”

Elsewhere, it continues to amaze me how Jay has been able to stay alive in this game against all odds. Part of the dying “bro alliance” with Taylor just a few weeks back, not only is nobody talking about Jay as a target, but he is quietly beginning to dominate challenges…add to that, that even a guy on an opposing alliance – Adam – thinks enough of him to just give him his Reward-Steal advantage…not to mention he has the game’s only current remaining hidden Idol. He’s tight with Bret and Sunday, and clearly has a bond with Adam, and so if the others aren’t careful, Jay may just wind up winning this thing. He’s definitely in the best position in my estimate…but as we saw with Zeke this week, that could mean absolutely nothing in a week’s time.

Strategic Move of the Week: Definitely not anything Ken did. I have to say that I think it was in Adam‘s best interest to play his Idol on Hannah not knowing what Will was going to do, but if you think about it, Will definitely made the strategic move of the week. Sure, telling Ken he was the target backfired and may end up costing Will his game in the long-run, but by voting out Zeke he definitely made a big move…and as things went down, he actually ended up drawing out Adam’s Idol to boot. That could be seen later as a great strategic move depending on what Will’s end-game is, but I think he really had no choice other than to vote Zeke out…he truly was at the bottom of his alliance and was not being valued, so he had to do something.

Voted out this week: Zeke

Won Immunity: Adam

Vote: Adam played an Idol on Hannah.  4 votes (voided by Adam’s Idol) for Hannah (Zeke, Bret, Sunday, Jay), 5 votes for Zeke (Will, David, Ken, Adam, Hannah)

Next Week’s Episode: Will tries to take charge, but Adam has other ideas. Will has now marked himself as a flip-flopper and someone the others might be able to rally behind to vote out, simply because his vote cannot be trusted moving forward. Nothing this season though, has been what it seems. Join me next week as we reset and get ready for another episode of Survivor!  See you all then and remember to leave your comments below! And lastly, remember to cast your vote for the Survivor Hall of Fame Class of 2016 by Dec 2!

Real Housewives Lisa Vanderpump And Stephanie Hollman’s Real Estate News

Lisa Vanderpump

Lisa Vanderpump

Real Housewives cast members Lisa Vanderpump and Stephanie Hollman have the funds to make property purchases whenever they want – well, at least for the most part, and weirdly enough the reality TV stars who live in Beverly Hills and Dallas, respectively, both just made real estate moves in Los Angeles.

No, it doesn’t seem like Stephanie is jumping ship from Real Housewives of Dallas to join one of the California casts. And I doubt Lisa will abandon Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but they both have some property news in the L.A. area.

CLICK “CONTINUE READING” FOR MORE!

According to an article from the LA Times, Stephanie sold a transformed house for $5.61 million and it sounds like the Southern Belle got a good return on her investment. Stephanie and her husband Travis Hollman got $4 million more than what the couple bought the property for two years ago. Damn. Good for them. I have no idea how much money they put into home improvements and redecorating, but I have to assume that they profited a lot from this sale at the end of the day.

It would have been cool if Stephanie bought the property with the intent of appearing on Real Housewives of Orange County, but that’s sadly not the case. Meanwhile, Lisa recently purchased a condo in West Hollywood for $630,000. Wait. What? A Condo!? I cannot picture Lisa walking into a condo, let alone living in one.

RELATED: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Returns December 6th

The condo is two bedrooms and includes two parking spots. I can’t see Lisa and Ken Todd sleeping there in separate bedrooms. If I had to guess, Lisa probably bought the place for her son Max Todd. But I’m only making that assumption since Lisa bought her daughter Pandora Vanderpump a house for her thirtieth birthday gift, so she has purchased real estate as gifts for her kids in the past. Plus, Max is a single dude (as far as I know), so it would make sense for him to be living at the crib with a roommate.

Or maybe it’s just an investment property and I let me mind wander a little too much. My bad.

Big Brother Over the Top: Who Gave the Best Final Speech? (POLL)

There are less than 24-hours before Julie Chen reads the name of the Big Brother Over the Top winner.  Jason Roy, Kryssie Ridolfi, and Morgan Willett have spent 65 long days in the BBOTT house. Now one of them will finally see their hard work pay off in the form of a $250,000 check.

img_2355

Last night, Morgan won the final Big Brother Over the Top competition of the season. She beat Justin Duncan to advance to the final three. The final BBOTT week continued tonight with final pleas.

Each houseguest had a few minutes to make last minute pleas to America. They talked about their game, other’s game, and why ultimately their game was the best one. None of the three speeches were realy thrilling or exciting to watch.

They basically all repeated things that we have heard before from them. Kryssie talked about just how much she puppet mastered the game. Jason talked about his vast knowledge of Big Brother, and how his wins and game moves kept him from leaving the house. Morgan talked about how the twist hurt her game more than helped it.

She also discussed how being seen as a weak player was part of her strategy.  Accross the board, we would grade all of their speeches with a C+/B- average. Shockingly, Kryssie gave the best speech. Unfortunately, most of her speech claims were completely delusional nonsense. If her claims were actually factual, she may have won a regular season of Big Brother.

Morgan speech was one of the more weaker ones because it lacked focus. Jason gave the best overall speech, but it definitely wouldn’t rank anywhere near best final speech or best Big Brother speech in general.

The only thing that gave him an edge with his speech is that he made points that could be backed up with supporting evidence, and he also addressed why he deserved to win more than the other two players.

Now that you have heard the final speeches, who do you think gave the best one? Vote in our poll below.

Who Gave the Best Speech?

Jason
Kryssie
Morgan

Scheana Marie Shay Files for Divorce From Mike Shay

scheana-marie-gets-married-part-2

Shay and Scheana Intervention

I could not help wondering where Scheana Marie Shay’s husband Mike Shay has been during first few episodes of the current Vanderpump Rules season (other than a 10 second blip at the apartment warming party). Their marriage issues and Mike’s struggle with sobriety took center stage last year, so the absence of their relationship from this season (so far) was very conspicuous. Well maybe that was some foreshadowing because Scheana just filed for divorce from Shay.

Damn. I feel naive saying this, but I was actually pretty surprised by this news. Maybe I’m the only one, but you know what they say, “hindsight is 20/20” and it’s very easy to look for “evidence” pointing to a split when it’s after the fact. But then again, Shay did supposedly go missing and take Scheana’s money recently- which Shay later denied in an emphatic Instagram post. So who knows what to believe, but the soon-to-be exes did confirm the divorce news.

CLICK “CONTINUE READING” FOR MORE

Scheana and Shay announced their split in a joint statement issued to Us Weekly. So yes, it is true.

The statement read, “While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship.” The timeline of their relationship has always been unclear to me given the fact that Scheana was introduced as a cast member because she had an affair with Brandi Glanville’s ex husband Eddie Cibrian while Brandi was pregnant and then boom she was engaged. Or at least that’s how it seemed to me.

The statement vaguely touched upon the recent gossip about the couple: “Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters.” This makes me wonder what was true and what wasn’t. I’m sorry for throwing out all the cliches today, but you know what they say “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” or something like that. So maybe Shay did not steal all of Scheana’s money and go missing, but maybe he stole some cash out of her purse and stopped returning her calls? I have no idea, but thankfully, Scheana gets paid to share her personal life on TV, so maybe her fans will get some answers.

The announcement concluded with, “We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other’s personal happiness and professional success.” I wonder what that really means though. Do they mean “friends” in the literal sense, or just that they want to try and have a civil divorce? I ask this because these Vanderpump Rules cast members don’t seem to have any conventional boundaries when it comes to friendship, enemies, and exes. Pretty much anything goes and alliances are always changing. For all we know, Shay is going to get a job at SUR and work the same shifts as Scheana next season.

In all seriousness though, this is pretty sad news since they were only married for two years. Hopefully their both doing okay and on a trivial side note, I think that Scheana should keep her married last name. Scheana Shay is just such a dope name. Or maybe she’ll go back to Scheana Marie Jancan?

Sheree Whitfield & Porsha Williams Sound Off About The Drama On Real Housewives Of Atlanta

Porsha Williams

Don't talk about Mama Joyce!

This season of Real Housewives of Atlanta only just started, but there is no shortage of drama. Every single woman in the cast is bringing their A-game. They all have a lot going on own their own and with each other – which means that they all have a lot of opinions about everyone’s business. So of course Sheree Whitfield has thoughts about Kandi Burruss’s baby daddy drama and Porsha Williams can’t help reacting to Sheree’s fight with Kenya Moore.

I love how much this cast is weaved into each other’s lives – this show makes sense instead of random scenes of people who have nothing to do with each other. Everyone on Real Housewives of Atlanta is looking out for themselves and spilling the tea about everyone else and I am absolutely living for it.

CLICK “CONTINUE READING” FOR MORE!

The last RHOA episode was full of drama. Kandi was struggling because her daughter’s piece of shit father decided to come back on the scene. Obviously, he just wanted to capitalize on Kandi’s shine and exploit a sad situation to get publicity for whatever music career he supposedly has. It was shady as hell and very sad for Kandi’s daughter Riley Burruss.

Thankfully, Kandi had Sheree to vent to; Sheree is familiar with the situation since her own ex, Bob Whitfield, decided to abandon her family as well.

Sheree opened up about her talk with Kandi in an interview with Bravo, “I can empathize with Kandi as we have shared similar struggles.” Not only that, but Sheree also has an ex who seems suspiciously comfortable around reality TV cameras – so they really do have a lot in common.

RELATED: Kandi Opens Up About Her Issues With Riley’s Dad

Not only does Sheree sympathize with Kandi, but she revealed that she also understands what Riley could be feeling. Sheree said, “As a single mom and a daughter who went through the same disappointments with my own dad, my heart goes out to any woman that has experienced parenting challenges.”

Unfortunately for Sheree, in addition to listening to Kandi talk about her personal drama, Sheree had her own shit to deal with. Unfortunately for the viewers, I am still referencing Sheree and Kenya’s pointless feud about the construction and decor of their mansions. When is this story line going to end!? It was funny at first. I live for the shade throwing, but I wish they would at least switch up the subject matter a little bit.

Just like most of the cast, Porsha had a front row seat to Sheree and Kenya’s latest showdown. And from what I can tell, it went on for a super long time, or at least that’s what the editing seemed to be alluding to. I was entertained by the random digs (like when Kenya mentioned Mama Joyce‘s wig), but Porsha was not amused by the display and explained why she feels that way in an interview with Bravo.

RELATED: Sheree In Court For Chateau Sheree Housewarming

Porsha admitted, “I was sitting there bored… I feel like I have heard all those tired reads before. It just gets old, so I decided to dig into the food.” I think Kenya and Sheree are prime sparring opponents, but they just keep arguing about the SAME STUFF over and over again. Please, find something new to be offended by if you’re going to be feuding on camera.

Porsha echoed all of our sentiments, “I honestly don’t get this ongoing rivalry between them. Why can’t they just be glad and congratulate each other for achieving their dreams and owning a home? I was hoping they would get tired and let it go, but that didn’t happen.” I never thought that Porsha would actually be the voice of reason, but she definitely is in this case. Preach, girl.

Let’s hope the battling mansions take a backseat in the upcoming episodes and that Kandi’s baby daddy gets his act together. Then I would definitely be happy.

Kandi Burruss Explains The Complicated Relationship With Her Daughter’s Father

Kandi Burruss

Kandi Burruss

Real Housewives of Atlanta viewers are seeing a lot of Kandi Burruss‘s personal drama this season. Poor Kandi – her mom and her husband are finally getting along and now she has baby daddy drama to deal with. A lot of the time, it seems like reality TV plot lines are contrived and manipulated, but you can tell Kandi is genuinely torn up about her daughter’s biological father Block Spencer coming back on the scene.

I find it shady as hell that this man who is supposedly successful in the music industry wants to be in his daughter’s life all of a sudden – in front of reality TV cameras. He couldn’t try to contact her in-between seasons? It seems extremely opportunistic and I can’t help feeling sad for Kandi’s daughter Riley Burruss. And on top of that the always outspoken Mama Joyce has had no issue sharing her opinions with Kandi, so it’s clearly going to be a drama-filled season for Kandi.

Kandi opened up to Bravo in an interview about what went down on the last episode. Mama Joyce told Kandi that people take her for granted because she’s “sweet.” Ugh. Poor Kandi. Everyone wants a piece of her fortune. What does Kandi think about her mom thinking people take advantage of her? She admitted, “Well, there have definitely been a lot of situations that I’ve let slide because I didn’t want to deal with drama. My mom doesn’t like to let anything slide, so it bothers her when I do that. Especially when it comes to money.”

It’s clear that money isn’t a top priority to Kandi when it comes to her beef with her baby daddy Block. Kandi didn’t seem to care at all about the lack of child support payments when Mama Joyce brought that up. Instead, Kandi cares more about Riley having a genuine relationship with her dad, which is very sad, but also refreshing since it’s not all about the Benjamins.

In the interview, Kandi was asked about why she was so upset talking to her ex on the phone. The scene was pretty tough to watch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kandi be that emotional on the show. Kandi explained, “When he said he wasn’t going to chase Riley to talk to her, he pissed me off. Block has gone Riley’s whole life not being there as a father. Now he wants to come out of the blue to ‘co-parent’ and he just expects her to welcome him with open arms?” Not to mention that he is some sort of music producer who is dating an artist, so it seems like he and his lady are trying to capitalize on Kandi’s reality show. It is a bad look all around.

Kandi wasn’t done though. The normally nice Kandi added, “He is arrogant.” Well, yeah clearly. Anyone who wants to play hard to get with his own daughter is a total douchebag and a half.

Even though Block seems like a total piece of shit, Kandi still wants things to be good with him and Riley, but she knows it’s going to take a lot of work. “If he truly wanted a relationship with Riley, then he needs to make her feel like he really wants to be there. Even if he calls her 100 times and she doesn’t call him back, he needs to keep trying. Years of neglect take more than a couple of phone calls to get over.”

Kandi is usually calm, cool, and collected. I have no idea how she managed to be tight lipped about this situation for so long. About getting upset with her ex, Kandi said, “I try my hardest not to argue and curse him out, because I never want him to be able to use me as an excuse later to tell Riley he wasn’t there because I did something to stop their relationship. So I hate when I lose my cool with him, even though he makes it hard not to.”

Damn. Props to Kandi for being a class act in an extremely difficult situation. Hopefully Riley gets what she deserves in a father. It is sad and trashy Block brought all of this drama to the show though.

TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT KANDI’S EX COMING ON THE SHOW? IS HE SINCERE ABOUT HIS DESIRE TO SEE RILEY OR IS HE JUST LOOKING FOR PUBLICITY?
