Best Bravo Dads

Father’s Day is upon us again. So, I thought it would be nice to take a deep dive into the dads of Bravo. While we mostly see the Real Housewives women interact with one another, sometimes it is nice to sit back and put the dads in the spotlight. Most of these dads probably aren’t always doing a school run or preparing dinner; they are there for their children when they need them the most. And isn’t that what makes having a father so great? So, every so often, when we get a sneak peek into the guy’s world, it is interesting to notice just how much they do for their offspring. 

However, all the men below have stood out to me because they have all shown major support for their wives. This attribute will undoubtedly rub off on their children, especially those who have sons. So, let’s take a look at who I thought deserved to make the cut. 

Eddie Osefo

There is no doubt that Eddie Osefo gets my vote when it comes to one of Bravo’s best dads. The entire Osefo family unit is so cute together. Personally, I don’t think the Real Housewives of Potomac shows enough of Wendy Osefo and Eddie’s marriage. Their union seems pretty stable, and the children are always happy to be around their parents. Happy Eddie is personable, gets along with everyone, and genuinely wants the best for his family. He is also a great role model. Eddie often takes the time to explain to his children why he makes his decisions.

John Barlow

Next, we have John Barlow, the husband and father we all wish we had. Every time John is featured on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, he seems to have a great relationship with his two sons. The latest season showed John getting choked up over his son, Jack Barlow’s mission trip as he went through family albums. John was tender and honest with his eldest son during the conversation. The amount of love in the air was such an immaculate vibe that I dare say I even shed a tear. Even though John doesn’t always say a lot when he speaks, everyone listens. 

Joe Gorga

It took a while to get Joe Gorga to come around, but once he did, he never looked back. Joe is out there hustling every day to provide for his three children. And even though he is on the outs with his own sister, he preaches to his children that they show their aunt respect. Joe might be a hard shell to crack, but his children are clearly the world to him. The latest episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey showed Joe sending his daughter off to college. The man let his emotions fly as he cried as he hugged his little girl. I needed the tissues for this scene! 

Simon van Kempen

The man was eccentric, but his quirkiness translated into a great deal of love for his wife and two sons. Simon van Kempen boasts about how “proud” he is to be the father of Francois and Johan on his social media. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what it is. Simon moved his family back to Australia to give his kids a better quality of life. While it might not be the most endearing thing for a dad to do, it is definitely thoughtful and futuristic thinking since university and health care are half that of the US. 

Mauricio Umansky

Even though Mauricio Umansky is currently going through a dreadful separation, he is still one of the best Bravo fathers out there. Mo has shown his devotion by treating Farrah as his own and including her in everything, especially the family business. The way he jokes with all four of his daughters is pretty sweet. Hell, he is the type of dad that you take shots with on vacation and confide in when you need the best advice. 

So, to all those Bravo fathers and everyday dads, Happy Father’s Day! God knows you all deserve it!

Why Bravo May Not Want To Compete With the Olympics 2024

Now, I love my Bravo shows just as much as the next person. I can’t get enough of those lazy days in the Hamptons or watching the Real Housewives troll one another. But I am not ashamed to admit I am addicted to the Olympics. Jill Zarin ice skating can only sustain me for so long. It isn’t every day that the best of the best get to compete for gold. Personally, I am all about the Summer Olympics because I am a huge women’s soccer fan. The camaraderie that is shown between countries and teams is like no other. The games are meant to be inspiring and uplifting and who doesn’t need a little inspiration right about now? As a viewer, you watch to celebrate athletic achievements and root for your home country.

There have been moments of greatness, such as in 1900 when the first female athletes were allowed to participate. In 1936, Jesse Owens broke the world record in Berlin, which shattered Hitler’s aim to use the Games as an example of the “new Aryan man.” And in 2008, Michael Phelps took home the most gold medals ever. In 1996, the USWNT won its first gold medal, which created a wave of popularity for the sport. The rush that the Olympics brings to the NBC network is everything, so it makes sense that Bravo might not want to compete for ratings. 

NBC or bust

As long as I have been alive (and now I am dating myself), NBC has always been home to the Olympic Games. The network has had the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Summer Olympic Games since 1988. And they have had the rights to the Winter Games since 2002. In 2014, NBC Universal, the parent company of Bravo, signed a $7.65 billion extension with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow the network to broadcast the Olympics through 2032. The games in the agreement include Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, and Brisbane. That gives the network total control until 2032! 

There is money to be made

Even though the Olympics is all about national pride, don’t be fooled. NBC can make a ton of money. According to Forbes, NBC booked $1.2 billion in advertising for the upcoming Paris 2024 games. NBC not only has record ad revenue but also, for the first time in traditional TV coverage, Peacock, their streaming service, will be live streaming every 329 medal event, which adds up to 5,000 hours of coverage. 

Will Bravo air new episodes?

NBC Universal has also shared that during daytime hours, the Olympics will be broadcast on NBC channels and Spanish-language Telemundo, including the Bravo channel. So, you won’t be able to see any reruns while on your lunch break. However, in primetime, Telemundo and NBC will offer a highlight reel of the day’s events. For the London Olympics in 2016, Bravo aired 56 hours of tennis. So it makes sense that for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Bravo would be given the same amount, if not more, hours for sports coverage. 

The Real Housewives of New Jersey will have had 12 episodes by the time the opening ceremonies air on July 24. Below Deck Mediterranean and the Real Housewives of Dubai will only be halfway through their new seasons, too. Bravo has yet to announce whether or not they will be airing new episodes, but if I had to guess, I would say no. I don’t see Bravo wanting to compete for ratings when it is already determined that most of the ad budget is going to the 17-day Olympic coverage. 

Now, I can already feel the angst coming from some of the die-hard Bravo viewers. But it isn’t the end of the world if a few new episodes get pushed back. If we are lucky, maybe Bravo will decide to air their primetime shows, but we won’t know until closer to the time. So, for now, figure out your favorite sport and get your national pride ready as Team USA goes for the gold! I’ll be watching and cheering my favorites on in Paris, will you?

The Best and Worst Bachelorette New Season Promos

The Bachelorette Season 21 is right around the corner, and fans are ready to watch leading lady Jenn Tran find love. While there are still a few weeks to go until Jenn’s season, several promos have dropped to promote her journey for love. Every time a Bachelorette new season drops, it’s hard not to compare it to previous ones. Over the last few years, some Bachelorette promos have hit it out of the park, while others have fallen short.

Charity Lawson – Best

Charity Lawson led The Bachelorette Season 20, which aired in the summer of 2023. Charity’s promo was classic, but elegant, which makes it one of the best recent Bachelorette promos. In her promo, Charity was dressed in a red ballgown, that matched the walls of red roses on either side of her. There were also some pink roses scattered in, which helped to give the promo an extra pop of color.

The roses of course pay tribute to the show, and the roses that the leads hand out to their contestants. Placing the roses on walls on either side of Charity was more creative than just having her hold them, as other promos have done in the past. Overall, Charity’s promo photo was stunning and really helped to build up the excitement for her season.

Michelle Young – Best

Michelle Young searched for love during The Bachelorette Season 18, which aired in the fall of 2021. From the jump, it was clear that production did their homework with Michelle’s season. Michelle had one of the most eye-catching promo posters in Bachelorette history, which immediately caught the eyes of viewers.

While Bachelorette promos usually photograph the lead from a distance, Michelle’s promo featured a close-up photo. Michelle looked stunning as she smiled in between a frame of flowers, which included roses. Although you can’t see much of Michelle’s outfit, her golden dress and white and pink earrings matched the color scheme perfectly. Finally, the slogan “love is in bloom” worked perfectly with the theme of Michelle’s promo.

Tayshia Adams – Best

Tayshia Adams took over on The Bachelorette Season 16, where she replaced Clare Crawley as the lead. This was a Bachelor Nation first, as fans originally expected Clare to complete the season. However, this last-minute change provided viewers with one of the best promos in Bachelorette history.

In the promo poster, Tayshia grins in front of a series of news headlines that discuss her being the new Bachelorette. Tayshia sported a bright blue dress that was completed with a skirt that matched the news headlines in the background. The slogan “the rumors end now” fit perfectly, as there were many rumors about who would take over for Clare. Tayshia’s promo was extremely creative and really captured the suspense around her season.

Katie Thurston – Worst

Despite the hype that surrounded Katie Thurston’s Bachelorette season, her promo was painfully basic. Katie led The Bachelorette Season 17, which aired right before Michelle’s season. The difference in their promos was obvious, and it was clear that production worked much harder on promoting Michelle’s season.

In her promo poster, Katie simply sat and smiled at the camera, while holding a rose. She wore a simple white tank top and a leather skirt, rather than a gown. Nothing about Katie’s promo paid homage to her or her season, which just made it bland. Furthermore, the slogan “see what all the buzz is about” didn’t add much either. Unfortunately, the production team failed with Katie’s promo, and she deserved better.

Jenn Tran – Worst

Jenn’s promo also fell below par, and it just seemed pretty random. The promo poster features Jenn sitting inside of a large arcade game, with various dolls and stuffed hearts scattered around as prizes. Jenn herself is sitting on the handle that typically pulls the prizes out of the game, where she sports a red dress while holding a fake rose.

While Jenn looks stunning in the poster and is dressed well, the concept is strange. The plushies that are supposed to be her suitors look somewhat cheap, which takes away from the promo. Furthermore, the promo doesn’t really represent much about Jenn or her personality at all. After several seasons of more creative promos, the production team could’ve done much better with this one.

Heather Dubrow and Alexis Bellino Brought Together Through Their ‘LGBTQIA+ Kids’

Alexis Bellino is returning to Real Housewives of Orange County for Season 18. This time, she won’t have an orange. But she will have a “gem” of a friend in the form of Heather Dubrow.

Even though they’ve “known each other for a very long time,” they “didn’t always see eye-to-eye,” says Heather.

But now it’s a whole new ballgame for the former frenemies. They’ve put their issues aside and become reacquainted “through some of our older kids,” adds Heather. She and Alexis have bonded over love for their LGBTQIA+ kids.

Heather’s rainbow family

Heather has four children with Dr. Terry Dubrow: twins Max and Nick, Kat, and Ace. Of Heather and Terry’s four children, three of them are LGBTQIA+. That’s kind of amazing and shows what great parents the Dubrows are. Their children are free to be themselves.

Their eldest daughter, Max, came out as bisexual in 2020, while their youngest daughter, Kat, came out as a lesbian the following year. The Dubrow’s youngest child, Ace, came out as transgender in early 2023.

When Heather returned to RHOC in 2021, she realized that she could do some good in other people’s lives. “I thought, ‘Hey, we’ve got this great platform, they’re asking us to come back. Wouldn’t it be nice to show our very normal family and maybe start conversations in other people’s families?'”

“Our job as parents is to give our kids a safe and supportive environment so they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident, independent humans,” Heather wrote in an Instagram post for National Son’s Day. “All we can say is Ace, we love you so much, and we are proud to be your parents. Your brother and sisters love and support you too.”

Alexis’ transgender son

Alexis shares three children with her ex, Jim Bellino: James and twins Miles and Mackenna. One year before Ace came out as transgender, Alexis announced in her own Instagram post that she was also “extremely proud” of her son Miles, who came out as trans in October 2022.

“Hey world, this is Miles. My transgender son,” Alexis wrote, alongside a photo of her and Miles. “Miles … has asked me to do this post … I cannot imagine the strength and courage it took for my baby to do this, but I’m extremely proud of him, and I want everyone to understand that love doesn’t change in these situations. It’s unconditional love.”

Regarding her newfound friendship with Alexis, Heather told The Daily Dish, “Having LGBTQIA+ kids definitely brought us closer.”

All episodes of Real Housewives of Orange County are now streaming on Peacock.

Kyle Richards Wants Tips for Dating After Divorce

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards needs our help. The mother of four separated from her husband Mauricio Umansky just last year. One can imagine being single after a decades-long relationship would make it challenging to be back on the dating scene. Swipe left, right, up, or down. It’s all so confusing. And this is why she needs advice!

Kyle is ready for some dating wisdom

A lot of the RHOBH crew could give Kyle dating advice. During season 13, Sutton Stracke decided to hire a matchmaker to help with her dating life. Although she was overly perky, she did set Sutton up on some quality dates. Cat sweaters and mommy issues aside.

Erika Jayne also hit the dating scene after filing for divorce. Last season Erika proudly proclaimed she’d been quite active in the boudoir. Between Erika and Sutton, they could definitely give some good tips. Let’s just hope Dorit Kemsley doesn’t chime in. Her advice is not wanted from Kyle anytime soon.

But the door is open to fans as well. According to Heavy, Kyle was asked a lot of questions about her dating life during an Amazon Livestream. One viewer wondered if she had any dating tips to share. Kyle responded, “I don’t have any tips. If you have any, let me know!”

Kyle also shared that she is not a fan of using technology for dating. She noted, “I am not a dating app kind of person.” Hard to believe Kyle isn’t on Raya just yet!

And finally, a fan named Christina tried to get Kyle to spill the tea about who she was dating. She asked, “OK here’s a big question, are you dating anyone, and if you are would you say? LOL.”

Kyle responded, “I say, ‘LOL,’ Christina!” So, Kyle is definitely open to some advice, but she’s not quite ready to spill the tea on her dating life. We will be waiting with bated breath!

Captain Lee and Carl Radke’s Friendship Explained

When we are little, our friendships tend to form by pure happenstance, deriving mostly from our shared classrooms, clubs, or even the locations of our homes. As we grow, however, our mindsets on who we allow into our personal spaces typically change. We begin seeking out those with similar values, personalities, and also, dare I say it, shared traumas. Bravo stars are no different than us on this, as Captain Lee Rosbach and Carl Radke have proven.

That said, there is an age gap between these two. Also, they starred in totally different shows on Bravo. And yet, these two still bonded, and a friendship was formed in the year of 2020.

So how exactly did this kinship happen? And what does a 74-year-old Below Deck alum have in common with a 39-year-old Summer House star? Also, are they still close these days? Let’s dive in.

How their friendship first began

In the year of 2019, Captain Lee lost his son to a tragic overdose. For twenty long years before his passing, Joshua Lee Rosbach had been battling an opioid addiction. His dependency first formed after an accident, which left him in the hospital for a while. Here, he received pain medications, which he then found himself unable to cease taking.

The following year, Curtis Radke, Carl’s brother, also passed away from an accidental drug overdose. When this news broke, Captain Lee reached out, knowing exactly what this massive loss must felt like for Carl. Immediately, these men formed a bond, because nothing brings two people closer together than their shared life experiences. No matter how dark they might be.

On a 2021 taping of Watch What Happens Live, Carl reflected on Captain’s Lee first point of contact. “We share kind of a similar story,” he began, adding “My brother and his son passed from addiction. [Lee] reached out to me last year during a really hard time, and having someone else from the Bravo family reach out meant a lot. Especially Captain Lee, who, I mean, he’s a legend, and also he’s a male figure, so I think coming from him, it was super important.”

I love a good DM story. Especially one that involves a touching subject matter, not a subject matter that someone wants you to touch.

What Captain Lee and Carl have said about the other

On that same episode of WWHL, host Andy Cohen asked Carl who the first person he confided in was, in regards to sharing his then-emerging feelings for his Summer house costar Lindsay Hubbard. “I had actually talked to Captain Lee early on,” he shared, adding, “I think he laid the groundwork for me to really feel confident in wanting to move forward with Lindsay.”

At this point, Captain Lee and Carl had never actually met each other in person. This all changed at BravoCon in 2022. During their meetup, they snapped a sweet photo together, which Carl later shared online, to help him acknowledge Captain Lee’s birthday. “Thank you for your kindness, warmth, strength, and guidance. I’m so fortunate to have you as a friend,” Carl penned to the BD alum.

At this same event, Andy asked Captain Lee a fan question, wondering whether or not he would be the one to officiate Carl’s then-wedding to Lindsey. “I am absolutely considering officiating his wedding. I would be honored to do that,” the captain answered. He also explained that it was great to finally see Carl in real time, noting that he gave “him a big hug, and [said], ‘It’s gonna be OK. We’re gonna get through it.’”

Their pulled podcast episode

Recently on his podcast, Captain Lee let us all know that this friendship wasn’t doing so well right now. Following Carl’s broken engagement, Captain Lee invited his buddy onto his podcast, to share his story. However, this podcast never aired. Carl nixed the entire thing.

“I’m going to say something. Carl and I used to be close,” Captain Lee began. “I gave Carl an opportunity to be on the podcast and tell it as he saw it. [If] there was a question he wanted taken off, we took it off. If there was something he didn’t want to answer, we didn’t put him on the spot,” he explained.

Captain Lee also made sure to note that he “didn’t hang” Carl “up to dry — it was a softball interview if I have ever seen one. Because I never would have done anything intentionally to put Carl on the spot.” Even still, things fell apart after this taping.

“Usually we release a tease on Tuesday, which we did. Then I got a phone call from Carl and he just went off on how I was taking advantage of him and trying to put him on the spot,” Captain Lee claimed. “His publicist was there — as was mine. I was blown away. I don’t know what made him go off the way he went or what he was thinking,” he further lamented.

Even still, Captain Lee placed the feelings of his friend over his podcast. “I told him he didn’t want it aired so we didn’t… So Mr. Radke, you were not deceived by me,” Captain Lee ended.

A final word from Captain Lee

In speaking to US Weekly, Captain Lee noted that he still has not spoken to Carl. “He’s been pretty busy,” he explained. On this, consider me sad.

Jenn Fessler Jokes She’ll ‘Kill’ Margaret Josephs for RHONJ Comments

Jenn Fessler may be at odds with Margaret Josephs during this season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. However, she still has love for her. But before they move past some of the negativity surrounding them this year, Jenn might have to set her straight.

Jenn will move past her issues with Margaret … after she handles her business

During her interview with Access Hollywood, Jenn discussed her massive fallout with Margaret this season. She mentioned some of the nasty things Marge has said about her, including calling her “Judas” — the man who betrayed Jesus in the Bible. But it doesn’t stop there. Marge has said more, like calling Jenn “weak sauce” and a “social climber.”

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Weren’t they best friends last year? Yeah, they were. However, things shifted this year when Jenn snuggled up to Teresa Giudice and Jennifer Aydin. Prior to the season airing, Marge spoke poorly about Jenn and even Jackie Goldschneider (who has also gotten close to Teresa), saying they “disappointed” her this year.

Despite all of that, though, Jenn said they’ll move past it because that’s what friends do.

“I’m going to kill her for all of the things she’s been saying about me,” she said. “But that’s for another day.”

It’s understandable why Jenn would be hurt by Margaret’s comments, considering she almost quit the show for her. Jackie also confirmed this.

“Margaret wanted, if [Luis Ruelas] was coming back to the show, she didn’t want me and Jenn Fessler to come back to the show,” Jackie said. “She wanted to leave, and she wanted all of us to leave together.”

Jackie continued, saying Jenn was willing to quit; however, she was not. “‘I love you,’” Jackie told Marge. “But I’m not leaving my job because you don’t like somebody.’”

There won’t be a Jersey reunion this year since none of the cast are speaking to each other. However, Andy Cohen said they’re working on something that could take its place. Whatever it is, hopefully, Jenn and Marge will be able to address this because we have a LOT of questions.
