Deal or No Deal Island Episode 5 Recap: The Banker Puts One Player in a Tricky Situation

Welcome back! Let’s get right into the Deal or No Deal Island Episode 5 recap. Last time, Boston Rob asked to face the Banker in a bid to send Kim home. He was successful. This week’s episode, “Are You Trustworthy?” finds Aron in a unique position. Here’s everything you need to know about Deal or No Deal Island Episode 5!

Where is Aron?

After the elimination last week, the Banker called and asked who was the most trustworthy. Aron was the man! I’m not sure if it was a blessing or a curse, because he had to stay at the Temple. The next morning, Alyssa and Rob were worried because Aron was still in MIA. Was he sent home?

While Alyssa was fretting about Aron, Stephanie was concerned about Alyssa wanting her out. Not going along with the plan to oust Kim has made Stephanie some enemies at camp.

Rob, who was a giant target, needed to find a backup if Aron was gone. So, he tried to see who he could bond with who wasn’t already in his alliance. I love watching Rob work his magic.

Meanwhile, Amy spoke badly about Rob, and called him “the puppet master deluxe.” Mostly because he never tried to talk with her. Is someone jealous?

A shocking excursion

The group headed to the next excursion. They find a sign labeled “help desk.” They find the host, Joe, waiting for them. He admitted that he was concerned about this challenge. “But after hearing his excitement, he’s got me persuaded,” Joe said of the Banker. And today’s challenge will test out how persuasive, or easily persuaded, his guests are.

The cases, which were locked, were scattered all across the jungle. Each guest would bring their case to a clearing. They will find the Banker’s ledger there, which lists the value of each case.

Once the guest finds out the value of their case, they can keep it or discard it and search for another. As always, the cases that are locked in will be added to the board for that night’s game with the Banker.

Joe told the group to run, but Rob asked where Aron was. “That’s way above your pay grade,” Joe replied. Finally, Nick reached the clearing first. And who was waiting for him? Aron was seated on a throne with the Banker’s ledger. And there were chains around the throne.

Aron is being tested

One hour earlier, Joe chatted with Aron. To establish his safety, Aron must prove to the Banker that he is in to win it. He must use his power of persuasion. Cases one and two don’t list a value, because they contain keys. The Banker is diabolical.

When the players arrive, they will ask Aron about the value of their cases. To avoid playing against the Banker, he must persuade two players to keep the cases with the keys. Aron needs both keys to free himself. If he is successful, he will choose which of those two players will face the Banker. If not, Aron must play against the Banker.

Aron told Nick to search for cases 14 or 16, which had higher values. Dawson ended up with a $3 million case. Aron told Jordan to look for cases 14 and 16, also.

Aron decided to tell Stephanie to bring back a key case. But first, she told Aron, “Alyssa is an absolute snake.” Wrong audience, Stephanie. But now she can’t go against the Banker because she would punch Alyssa’s ticket home.

Who trusts Aron the most?

Next up was Miranda, and Aron suggested that she take case one or two. But then he told Alyssa to look for the same cases. What is happening right now? Aron wanted to keep his ally in the bottom two, but not put her up against the Banker. That seems … risky.

Although Amy had a case containing $500,000, she didn’t believe Aron. She dissed him and announced that she was keeping her case. Congrats!

Nick locked in case 14, and Jordan took number 16. Alyssa found case number two, and Miranda took case number one.

Rob was feeling the heat, and he didn’t trust Miranda. He asked Aron if he should go in the bottom two. Aron explained that he needed certain cases to guarantee his safety. And if it comes down to Alyssa and Rob, the Survivor winner would face the Banker again.

Some guests felt played

Rob was seething because Aron was more loyal to Alyssa than him. Meanwhile, Aron believed that Rob knew about his strong connection with Alyssa. Rob finally agreed to trust Aron and kept his case. But first, he checked in with Miranda and Nick to make sure that they were all good.

Once the cases were locked in, the group headed back to Aron to reveal the value of their cases. And Joe filled them in about Aron’s little side hustle during the challenge.

Alyssa was shocked when she opened her case, and it contained a key. Almost everyone else had big money cases, except for Amy. Now Alyssa was spiraling, unsure about her entire gameplay. And Stephanie was gloating because Alyssa had the key.

Rob’s case was worth $1.75 million. Once Miranda realized she also had a key, she was salty. Joe sets Aron free, but he might want to stay far away from Miranda.

Meanwhile, Rob discovered that he wasn’t Aron’s number one. That spot belonged to Alyssa, and Rob wasn’t thrilled to be Aron’s side piece in the game.

Aron has some explaining to do

Alyssa and Aron talked, and he shared that this was the only way he could keep her safe. Meanwhile, Stephanie watched them chat and started to feel like something about this whole scenario was off. Duh!

During his chat with Miranda, Aron apologized. Miranda stated that she was hurt, and she suggested that Alyssa should face the Banker. But Aron was honest and told Miranda that she was playing. Then Miranda asked who Aron wanted to send home. He picked Stephanie. But was Miranda trustworthy? Nope! She had her own little “blindside” planned. This game is stressful!

And Miranda has honed in on her target: Alyssa. But first, she has some flirty banter with Joe. You go, girl!

Joe asked Miranda what she would do if she won the final case. She would like to own her own pest control business called The Ladybugs. And nine months ago, her hometown was hit by a hurricane. So, she would like to help the community. That is awesome that she planned to give back.

There are a total of 12 cases tonight. Five cases are worth over $1 million. Miranda selected case 11 for her case. In the first round, Miranda has to open six cases. At the end of the round, there are three cases worth over $1 million left.

The Banker offered Miranda $208,000 and asked her to stop flirting with Joe. She declined the deal. Next, she has to open two more cases. At the end of the round, she has $100, $1.5 million, $1.75 million, and $3 million left on the board. Wow!

The Banker offered Miranda $937,000, which was the biggest offer so far this season. While Miranda and the group were discussing it, the Banker called back. He offered Miranda a personal offer. If she accepts his deal, he will give her $40,000 to keep. Wow!

She took the deal, so the $40,000 is hers no matter what. Miranda knew that there was a good chance that she made a bad deal, but she needed to take the personal offer.

Who was eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island, Episode 5?

Miranda Harrison was the fifth player eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island.

Her case needed to contain $100 to continue in the game. But instead, it contained $1.5 million. The final case total is now a robust $1,991,000.

“I might not be the Banker’s ultimate opponent, but I didn’t go home empty-handed. So, I definitely robbed him of at least $40,000, and to me, that was not a bad deal,” Miranda explained.

Before Miranda left, Joe asked her who she would have sent home. She shared that she was upset with Aron, so she was going to send Alyssa home. But Miranda added that Aron asked her to eliminate Stephanie.

Joe asked Stephanie if she knew about this plan. She said that if you don’t hear any game talk, then you are the target.

Aron was freaking out because Miranda revealed all this information. Meanwhile, Rob was looking on the bright side. Since Alyssa and Aron were exposed, that took some of the heat off of him.

Jordan Emanuel Explains Why Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard Didn’t Get a Reunion

Season 1 of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard was quite the show. From the drama between Bria Fleming and Jasmine Ellis Cooper to Amir Lancaster blowing up after a tense conversation with Jordan Emanuel — there were plenty of explosive moments to keep us entertained. 

Surprisingly, though, like many other Bravo shows, Summer House: MV didn’t get one of those coveted sit-down reunions with the network’s biggest star, Andy Cohen. According to Jordan, she would’ve “loved” to hash things out with her co-stars. However, they couldn’t make things work at the last minute. 

Jordan wants more eyes on Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard

In an interview with Distractify, Jordan explained why there was no reunion following Season 1. “I think everybody would have loved to have made it work, but I just don’t think, realistically, like it was gonna happen,” she explained. “It just became a logistics thing more than anything else.” 

The reality star, who also appeared in Season 3 of Winter House, explained that she’s proud of their show and hopes for more of it. 

“As far as exposure, I mean, of course, I’m always gonna say, ‘Yeah, I want more’ because I’m proud of us. I’m proud of the work we’ve done and our dynamic. I think we put a lot into it by exposing our real relationships, and our real thoughts, and our real feelings, especially as Black people, quite frankly.” 

“So yeah, of course, I’m always going to say like, I want everybody to see it, and I want everyone to be talking about it, naturally. But I mean, I think my expectations were exceeded, regardless, because I certainly wasn’t expecting people to recognize me on the street, especially like nine months later, you know?”

Season 2 of SH:MV premiered on Bravo on March 24, and we can already tell it will be an explosive batch of episodes. In an interview with Reality Tea, Jordan teased the group’s dynamic, adding that they “go through ups and downs” but manage to come together in the end. 

“I want everyone to realize that we’re just like everyone else,” she said before saying, “like it’s a part of life to go through ups and downs with people that you care about.”

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 8 is almost here, and we are stoked! Season 8 will feature a whopping nine couples, some we’ve known for a while, and some are still pretty new. TLC knew what they were doing when they cast this season, as it is sure to be a wild ride! Here are all of our predictions for Happily Ever After? Season 8, although we don’t exactly hope that we’re right with all of them!

Michael Will Finally Come To America

One of our more positive predictions for Happily Ever After? Season 8 is that Michael Ilesanmi will finally make it to America! Michael and his wife Angela Deem have been featured on a number of seasons, all while dealing with a long distance relationship. After his K1 visa application was denied, Michael and Angela decided to get married in Nigeria. The couple then applied for a spousal visa for Michael, which will be a part of their Season 8 storyline.

The trailer for Happily Ever After? Season 8 previews Michael waiting to hear word on his spousal visa. Angela flew to Nigeria to join him for the wait, which is stressful for both of them. Ultimately, we think that Michael will finally come to America during Season 8, which he has been waiting to do for years. Michael has also been reported to have been in America for a few months now, which strengthens our prediction.

Ed Will Cheat On Liz

Unfortunately, we do not predict positive things for Ed Brown and Liz Woods on Happily Ever After? Season 8. Ed and Liz have always had a tumultuous relationship, and have broken up and gotten back together countless times. Some viewers were confused when Ed and Liz were cast for Season 8, as it seems pretty clear that the two are now broken up. Ed and Liz wiped one another off their social media pages, and Liz has hard launched a new boyfriend.

In terms of Ed and Liz’s Season 8 storyline, it seems pretty certain from the trailer that he cheats on her at some point. Ed is seen telling Liz that he “should have come clean”, which seems to suggest infidelity. Furthermore, Liz tells Ed that she had to find out about this issue from one of Ed’s friends, which further implies that there was cheating. This could potentially lead to what seems to be Ed and Liz’s final break-up.

Nicole & Mahmoud Will Continue Struggling With Cultural Differences

Nicole Sherbiny and her husband Mahmoud El-Sherbiny struggled with cultural differences on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, and probably still will. While Nicole is American born and raised, Mahmoud is used to his strict Islamic lifestyle in Egypt. Nicole did convert to Islam after marrying Mahmoud, by her own choice, but has struggled with some of Mahmoud’s strict expectations from her. Clothes, in particular, have caused issues for the couple.

On the upcoming season, Nicole and Mahmoud will likely keep clashing over the same issues. Mahmoud will now be living in America with Nicole, although this will most likely not change his mind. Mahmoud seemed very stuck in his ways on The Other Way, and probably will still want Nicole to dress very modestly. This may cause conflict, especially since Nicole is seen wearing a sleeveless top in the Season 8 trailer.

Gino & Jasmine Will Keep Having The Same Fights, Then Making Up

Gino Palazzolo and Jasmine Pineda have become quite popular in the 90 Day Fiancé universe, but not for the best reasons. While Gino and Jasmine have always been controversial, their story lines are now as boring and tedious as ever. The couple is infamous for their dramatic and over the top fights, which always seem to be resolved in no time.

From what we have seen from the trailer, it looks like Gino and Jasmine will continue the same antics on Happily Ever After? Season 8. The trailer previews another theatrical argument between Gino and Jasmine, where she throws a drink at him. These fights are getting hard to take seriously, as both Gino and Jasmine look like they want to burst into laughter when filming them. We totally think some of these are staged!

Alleged Texts Between NeNe Leakes, Porsha Williams Revealed Amid Feud

Well, this is messy. As NeNe Leakes and Porsha Williams throw jabs on social media, text messages between the two stars have leaked, shedding new light on the dynamic between the two Real Housewives of Atlanta stars.

In case you missed it, NeNe took to her Instagram last week to attack Porsha over some behind-the-scenes drama on the Netflix series The Upshaws. NeNe said they were both being considered for roles, but Porsha told the producers that she refused to work with her former RHOA costar because of issues they’ve had in the past.

NeNe caught a lot of flack for running to Instagram to address her issue with Porsha. However, these alleged texts prove that Nene did reach out to Porsha before publicly dragging her.

The texts tell all

These receipts came via Gossip Informer, and they seem to show just how blindsided NeNe felt by Porsha. Although we saw them fall out a million times on RHOA, NeNe felt like they had resolved their issues. After all, it’s been years since either of them were on the show.

“We have hung out in Dubai, you were texting me about Housewives,” NeNe wrote. “This is sad.”

In response, Porsha criticized NeNe for not checking in on her “lil sis.” She felt like she had been supportive of NeNe throughout her hardships, but the same hadn’t been reciprocated. It’s a tale as old as time with these two. Regardless, NeNe felt like the punishment didn’t match the crime.

NeNe clapped back and said, “Nothing you are saying is valid enough to go to a production company and say you do not want to work with NeNe because we have issues in the past.”

While these two bickered over this guest, another RHOA alum quietly got the part. Cynthia “Cheekbones” Bailey posted on her Instagram a bouquet of flowers she got from Wanda Sykes, the creator of The Upshaws. It’s proof that professionalism pays off.

Will The Bachelor Crossover With 9-1-1?

9-1-1’s move over to ABC has afforded the cast new connections. Now we’ve learned that the cast members will be making their way over to The Bachelor mansion for a crossover like none other.

9-1-1 transitioned from Fox to ABC at about this time last year. The show’s spinoff, 9-1-1 Lone Star, remained on Fox. For those wondering how exactly a scripted, fictional show will cross over with a reality show, ABC has kept the circumstances of the crossover a little hush-hush.

But one 9-1-1 star, Oliver Stark, was able to tease some details. Rather than Oliver showing up in the nearly-concluded Bachelor Season 28, iconography from The Bachelor is set to appear in 9-1-1 Season 7, Episode 5.

9-1-1 star says Bachelor stop is “not a direct crossover”

On March 11, Oliver told PEOPLE, “It’s not a direct crossover, but there’s a feel of it.” This was after the outlet obtained a photo of the 118 ambulance outside of The Bachelor mansion.

He explained, “There’s a really fun emergency, and it’s not necessarily the biggest in terms of spectacle, but in the fifth episode of the season, there’s one that kind of touches base with another ABC show.”

Later, in an interview with TooFab, Oliver shared, “I’ll just say that, you know, we are in this new world of being on ABC and I think that opens up a lot of different opportunities and I love the idea of doing crossovers.”

He continued, “We did one obviously in the past with our spinoff show [9-1-1: Lone Star]. I just think it’s always cool when you can merge these two worlds together and bring characters from different things together.”

Oliver concluded his thoughts by saying, “There’s definitely, as we know, a crossover coming up and I feel really lucky we get to do that at our new home.”

The Bachelor Season 28 concludes March 25 at 8/7c on ABC.

Mauricio Umansky on Dating While Separated: ‘Not in a Rush’

It’s been about six months since Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards confirmed their separation. Since then, we’ve seen Mau partying it up in Aspen with Brazilian singer Anitta. He sparked romance rumors with his Dancing with the Stars partner Emma Slater by holding hands with her in public. In the early days of the separation, he seemed pretty eager to move on. Allegedly, that’s not the case.

The Buying Beverly Hills star recently chatted with E! News about his dating life. He claimed that he was in no rush to start dating while he navigated his split from Kyle. He could have fooled us.

Mauricio is focused on himself, rather than dating

Obviously, the split from Kyle has taken a toll on the entire family. Mau has to find a new place to live. Their four daughters are devastated. When talking about his life after separation, Mauricio shared how he’s taking things “one day at a time.”

“I’m spending a lot of time by myself and kind of getting to learn myself and enjoy myself,” Mauricio said of his single life.

When some people go through a breakup, they immediately run to Tinder and start swiping like their lives depend on it. That’s not the case for Mauricio. He said he’s more focused on himself, and of course, The Agency.

Mauricio added, “I’ve been enjoying that process. I’m not in a rush to do anything at the moment. Not in a rush—period. I am enjoying the journey, and I’m learning from myself.”

Mauricio has been sharing “the journey” on social media. For example, just the other day, he was performing a TikTok dance with his friend on the side of a snowy mountain. He’s also promoting the heck out of Season 2 of Buying Beverly Hills, which is expected to add more context to his breakup from Kyle.

Below Deck’s Ben Willoughby on His ‘Unheard Of’ Docking as Bosun

At this point, we all know that yachting isn’t for the faint of heart, but for Below Deck star Ben Willoughby, Season 11 has been particularly difficult.

He came into the charter season as the lead deckhand, but when bosun Jared Woodin got fired by Captain Kerry Titheradge, Ben suddenly had to step up into the bosun role. Then, the interior crew ended up short-handed when Cat Baugh decided to exit. In Season 11, Episode Season 7, Ben accurately described the state of affairs as “full circus mode.”

With the circus behind him, Ben chatted with Us Weekly and reflected on his first docking experience as a bosun. Everyone lived, and the boat successfully made it into the dock. But in retrospect, Ben felt surprised by how they pulled it off.

A barely-legal first docking for Below Deck’s Ben

With the boat down two crew members, there was a ton of pressure on the last charter. After Jared got fired, the interior crew planned on picking up some of the slack. Cat’s exit threw a wrench in that plan. Ben recalled that when it was time to dock the boat after an especially long charter, everyone was feeling the pressure.

“This is the longest charter we had all season — four days long. We’re already a man down [with Jared], but it’s nothing that I think we can’t handle. It’s unheard of [though when we] first [are] coming off the dock,” Ben explained.

He continued, “You’ve got two deck members [on the boat] while Sunny [Marquis] is on the tender. You wouldn’t do that. I don’t even know if it’s legal, to be honest.”

Ready for the challenge

Although Ben’s first days as a bosun on St. David were a little rough and possibly illegal, he confessed that he was more than ready for the challenge. Before Season 11, he worked as a bosun on a different vessel. He said he felt pretty bummed that he didn’t get the job in the first place.

Ben explained, “So, when I was asked to come back, and I was actually taking a step down back to the lead deckhand, I was like, ‘Damn, I’ve got to bite my tongue a bit here and see what kind of circus this person’s running.’”

When reflecting on the tumultuous charter season, Ben said that it was initially “difficult” to go back into the lead deckhand role — especially with Jared as his superior. Ultimately, Ben was glad that Jared got to be the guinea pig for the bosun role. He got to see all of Jared’s failures as a big learning experience. When he stepped in to replace Jared, Ben said he knew exactly what not to do.

“I’m glad that he took the first run at it, so I could see how to do it and what Kerry was like and where he demanded things,” Ben explained. “Especially in the docking situations … I could tell that Jared was stumbling and fumbling. So I knew that that’s where I just had to be on my A-game.”

This season, her reign of chaos caught up with her, and the rest of the cast tried to ice her out of the group.

Quad is normally unapologetic about her reality TV shenanigans. However, a Watch What Happens Live caller recently challenged her to confess to one regret from her time on the show. Just one.

It took her a second to come up with a regret, but her answer surprisingly had nothing to do with any of the ladies. Instead, she described a cringeworthy scene she shared with her ex-husband Dr. Greg Lunceford in Season 5.

Embarrassed by Dr. Greg

Quad admitted that she’s “not perfect” and has “made a lot of mistakes.” It seemed like she almost wanted to reference a regret related to the M2M ladies. Then, she backtracked and started thinking about her ex-husband.

“My ex-husband and I, we were in a marital focus group, and we were kind of trying to work through some of our issues,” Quad recalled.

She continued, “The biggest regret I had is when I was pouring my heart out to him. He literally began to foam out the mouth and shake and fall out as if he was having convulsions.”

Quad’s biggest Married to Medicine regret

On WWHL, Andy Cohen seemed a little puzzled that this moment was Quad’s biggest regret. How is Dr. Greg making a fool of himself a regret for Quad? She clarified how this moment felt like a nasty combination of hurt and embarrassment, making her regret the whole scene.

“I was embarrassed for him,” Quad explained. “I was embarrassed that’s what you feel about our marriage. It was kind of hurtful.”

Watching back the clip of the martial focus group, you could tell that Quad was sincerely trying to make progress in her marriage. It’s a shame that Dr. Greg was so callous. At least these days, Quad can rest well knowing he’s someone else’s problem.

Farrah Aldjufrie ‘Hopeful’ for ‘Amazing Parents’ Kyle Richards, Mauricio Umansky Amid Their Split

A little bit of optimism never hurt anyone, right? Farrah Aldjufrie has a lot of it when discussing her parents’ separation. The Buying Beverly Hills star recently shared that she’s feeling hopeful for her parents, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky.

It’s been about six months since the reality TV power couple announced their separation. Kyle and Mau have slowly started divulging bits and pieces about what went wrong. The information they failed to give us on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been teased in Season 2 of Buying Beverly Hills.

In a sneak peek from Buying Beverly Hills Season 2, we saw Mauricio sit down and break the news to his daughters about the breakup. At the time, Farrah admitted to having a hard time wrapping her head around the news. However, she recently talked to Us Weekly, and it sounds like she’s had a slight change of perspective since filming Season 2.

Staying positive

Of course, dealing with your parents breaking up is tough. Having it play out on not one but two reality shows must be a doozy. When asked about the family’s rough patch, Farrah admitted that it was unfamiliar territory for their household. Regardless, she said that she and her sisters feel confident that there’s a “bright future” ahead for them. Whether or not that bright future ends with a divorce remains unclear.

“We’re very, very hopeful. We’re a very strong family, we’re very resilient,” Farrah told the outlet. “We have two amazing parents, the best sisters in the world. Given the circumstances, I don’t think it could be any better or we could be handling it any better.”

Farrah said that she and her sisters are all trying to look for silver linings where they can find them. Meanwhile, Kyle recently shared that Mauricio is looking to move out of their shared home. Perhaps a little distance will make everything a little easier to navigate for the whole family.

Pump Rules Producer Saw Premature Signs of Scandoval

Vanderpump Rules was changed forever when it came to light that Tom Sandoval cheated on Ariana Madix with Rachel Leviss. Some may argue it changed for the better, others for the worse. In either case, the cheating scandal gripped the nation.

But with a scandal of such a magnitude, viewers and commentators had to wonder how true the development was. From the moment the news broke, many assumed the entire situation was manufactured for ratings.

Considering just how often the cast is in front of the cameras, it would theoretically seem impossible for anyone to keep a secret away from production. As it turned out, there was one Pump Rules producer whose Scandoval senses were tingling.

On March 16, Bravo released a snippet of an interview that Scheana Shay did with executive producer Natalie Neurauter. During the chat, Scheana asked, “Did you have any inkling that there was anything brewing? Because obviously there were little moments, but were those noticed in the moment or [was it] only after?”

Natalie responded, “As we were putting together the season, what we started to see very clearly was Tom wanting to be out in the world way more often than Ariana did. And the people he was going out in the world with were [Tom] Schwartz and Rachel. I thought that she might have a crush on him.”

The executive producer further explained her theory, saying, “I think she felt that he was, you know, the number one guy in the group. He had that energy. That, to me, was sort of relatable, but it didn’t feel sinister. It felt innocent. Clearly incorrect.”

But was that truly the extent of Natalie’s knowledge? We may never know. Some have suggested producers knew exactly what was going on, all of the time. Rachel said as much in her recent lawsuit, accusing Ariana and her castmates of knowing about the affair for months.

Drag Race Alum Shangela Accused of Sexual Assault by Five People

Things just went from bad to worse for Shangela (AKA Darius Jeremy “DJ” Pierce). The RuPaul’s Drag Race alum was hit with a lawsuit by a former production assistant from HBO’s We’re Here who accused her of rape. It prompted HBO to fully recast the show, and Shangela quietly slipped away from the public eye.

Last month, we learned that her accuser dropped the lawsuit against Shangela, seemingly signaling an end to her legal trouble. Now, she just got rocked with a fresh set of allegations.

According to a bombshell report from Rolling Stone, five people have accused Shangela of sexual assault.

The outlet interviewed five survivors who described interactions with Shangela ranging from 2012 to 2017. In many of the stories, the victims described getting way too inebriated to consent to sex. In some instances, the victims weren’t even old enough to legally drink alcohol.

For example, one survivor named RoyLee Soliz recounted meeting Shangela at a meet-and-greet in Texas. RoyLee was 20 at the time, which would mean Shangela was around 30. Allegedly, the two of them got drunk after the meet-and-greet, and Shangela invited him back to his hotel room. RoyLee said Shangela sexually assaulted him once they were back in the hotel room.

“I just remember trying to sleep and closing my mouth when she (Shangela) tried to put her penis in my mouth,” he recounted. “I really didn’t have any strength to tell her to stop or that I didn’t want to have sex with her … She had gotten me so drunk that I couldn’t say no, and I was in no way mentally OK enough to feel strong or demand her to stop what she was doing.”

Shangela’s attorney, Andrew Bettler, denied the claims. They claimed that Shangela never met RoyLee, and denied any wrongdoing. According to the lawyer, Shangela never had “nonconsensual sex” with anyone. However, four other victims shared similar stories to RoyLee’s experience.

In another story about Shangela, a victim named Helmer recalled meeting her at a Los Angeles bar in 2017. The two went out for drinks, and Helmer said that Shangela bought him a “mojito.” Somehow, that one “mojito” caused Helmer to black out, and he said he couldn’t recall anything that happened after drinking it. He claimed that the next thing he remembered was waking up naked in Shangela’s house.

One common thread among all of the victims is that they were hesitant about coming forward due to the political climate surrounding drag queens. A few of them credited the We’re Here production assistant for sounding the horn on Shangela in last year’s lawsuit. In response to those claims, Shangela said the accuser was harming the LGBTQ+ community by “perpetuating damaging stereotypes.” Allegedly, it was actually Shangela who was harming the community.

“[Shangela is] a huge spokesperson for a community in which they have hurt quite a few people. I would hope that people take this kind of thing seriously,” one of the victims shared. “It is a big relief that, finally, this conversation is starting to happen.”

With all of these allegations in the air, it’s unclear what’s next for Shangela. We do know that one of her accusers filed a complaint with the Los Angeles Police Department in 2023 about their assault in 2017. This is likely just the very beginning of a reckoning.
