Kathryn Edwards Dishes On the Faye Resnick Situation; Read The Book Excerpt
From what the viewers were shown last night, Kathryn Edwards didn’t say a tenth of what she initially wanted to say to Faye Resnick when finally given the chance. Instead, she took to her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills blog to share her feelings. She also touched on that awkward age conversation with Lisa Vanderpump.
Kathryn says she was fine with LVP’s questions, “I wasn’t offended by Vanderpump’s asking me my age, I’m very proud to say how old I am. Why wouldn’t I be? And I am also very proud to have married my husband, regardless of our age difference. It’s never mattered to me. Age is a number…I can be curious about age differences, too, but that’s all it is. I want to understand couples and what makes them work. Maybe Vanderpump wanted to know what it was like to be with such a young, hot stud, haha…kidding Ken. I found Vanderpump’s questions engaging and funny, but I am sure others might not see it that way. I guess that those are things I would also ask and then be surprised I offended someone. And that’s all I have to say about that.”
Kathryn then gets to the Faye confrontation (or lack thereof), “OK…so lets cut to the chase…here it is…this is what you really want to know. My reaction to Faye was this: If she would have been more reticent with her feelings, I would have spoken differently to her, but from the moment we sat down at the table, Faye’s body language, much like Rinna’s description, was desperately trying not to engage with me. I saw her drinking shots before we sat down, and she was sheepish from the start. She had an ignominious posture, and I knew she didn’t want to go there. I thought about it…my wheels were turning, and I was playing it out in my head on fast forward.”
She continues, “As I said in this episode, I didn’t go there looking for a fight, but if she wanted one, she was sure going to get it. Faye has a sordid past. I read her Wikipedia page (she should pay someone to clean that up), and she doesn’t look like the face of truth and virtue. It would have been easy to touch on a few things to knock her down to size, but I am a lady, and engaging at Kyle’s with such an intense subject would have ruined the dinner party–I mean the BBQ. Faye’s blanket apology to the table was general, but she doesn’t know me to say more than that. All I wanted to see and hear was that she was sorry for what she had done, not just to me but to Nicole’s memory. Desperate people do desperate things.”
And for Erika Girardi, Kathryn says that Faye’s decision to work with a writer from a tabloid is telling. “Erika, I don’t read the Enquirer, do you? When Faye decided to share her story, she chose to pen the book with Mike Walker, a writer from the Enquirer. It was described as a “highly sensational, instant book” written by a self-proclaimed serious substance abuser. Faye spoke of the nights of partying and shared her intimacy with her “best friend.” Excerpts of the book were on the cover of the Enquirer weekly, it was in quotes. I read what Faye had to say about me, I couldn’t miss it at the grocery store checkout line…that was good enough. I’ll pass on that page turner. If Faye thinks that is the way to honor her best friend, who needs enemies? And in true Enquirer form, what she said regarding me is a lie. Couldn’t I have just been abducted by martians instead?”
If you’re curious about Kathryn and how exactly she’s mentioned in Faye’s book (she’s only mentioned in Faye’s first book, not the second one), Bravo shared the excerpt below.
Then she came to the other names she so desperately did not want to reveal. Finally, Nicole admitted her affair with Marcus Allen. She quickly told OJ that she’d only let him “play” with her. She didn’t admit to actual intercourse. OJ exploded. He turned on her like a man possessed. Nicole told me OJ threatened her, saying “If you’re ever with Marcus again, I’ll…I don’t know what I’ll do, but it will be bad. I won’t be able to control myself.” He wouldn’t let it end. It held up the reconciliation attempt for months. At times we were worried that OJ might take revenge on Marcus by telling his fiancée Kathryn about the affair with Nicole. That would have been a disaster, because Kathryn was a sweet woman who was well aware of Marcus’ womanizing and might have felt she had to call off the wedding. OJ did not do that, but he did confront Marcus. No one knows exactly what was said, but it ended up with him swearing to OJ that he would never touch Nicole again. Marcus said it wouldn’t be a problem anymore, because he was getting married.
And then later in the book she mentions Kathryn again for a short minute:
“Kris, I don’t know what to think about this. I know Marcus Allen has been trying to get my phone number, and Nicole wants me to go out with him to the Monkey Bar. I like Marcus but not in that way. On the other hand, I’d like to keep him as a friend, because he is a friend of Nicole’s. What do you think?” Kris said, “Whatever you do, don’t go out with Marcus Allen. He’s the biggest womanizer in the world and don’t forget he’s engaged to Kathryn. She turns a blind eye to his fooling around, but it hurts her when he does it publicly.”
TELL US – WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE KATHRYN/FAYE ISSUE? TOO OLD AND WHO CARES? OR IS IT JUICY WITH MORE DETAILS TO HOPEFULLY FOLLOW? DO YOU BELIEVE THAT KATHRYN REALLY NEVER READ THE BOOKS?

The Dissolution of the Diary Room [Op-Ed]
All things evolve over time, and this is especially true for reality television. Take a look at season one of Big Brother, it’s virtually a different program all together than the product we’ve been delivered in recent years. Anyone who slogged through Big Brother 1 will tell you that it’s a good thing, and believe me, it is. But evolution doesn’t always go in the right direction.
Judd Daugherty in the Diary Room (Source: CBS, Big Brother 15)
So many elements of our beloved summer fix are better than they used to be. Remember when the Power of Veto wasn’t a thing in season two? Or when a houseguest couldn’t use it to save themselves in season three? The game has surely evolved in mostly positive ways.
Not always though, I have virtually nothing good to say about the Battle of the Block. My thoughts on that have been outlined thoroughly when I criticized the predictable, strategy-reducing twist last summer.
Despite all the changes and evolution we’ve seen over the years, one constant that’s been an element within Big Brother since season one is the Diary Room. It’s been a fixture where houseguests reveal their innermost thoughts to the cameras, producers, and ultimately America. It used to be anyways. More recently, it’s been less of an outlet for houseguests to vent about the stress of the game and their fellow houseguests, and more of a vehicle to provide narration and cheesy often producer-encouraged soundbites.
Believe me, I understand narration is necessary for story-telling purposes. That I cannot complain about sufficiently, but the blatant production-engineered comments have been somewhat frustrating in recent years. Not all houseguests are force-fed lines by production, but it is very apparent that certain houseguests are better at coming up with their own material than others.
Britney Haynes in the Diary Room (Source: CBS, Big Brother 14)
Britney Haynes comes to mind as a diamond in the rough of recent houseguests who have seemingly been able to come up with their own one-liners, and that speaks to her biting wit more than anything else. There are a few others more fortunate than most to be personalities that pop naturally on camera, I’d imagine houseguests such as Daniele Donato, Da’Vonne Rogers, John “Johnny Mac” McGuire, and Amanda Zuckerman had no problems coming up with their own material.
But it’s been well documented that often production encourages the houseguests to say certain things or for the houseguests to portray themselves in a light different from how they might typically. For instance, I recall from various interviews that Jason Roy and Andy Herren both had mentioned that they were asked to make sexual comments about men or phallic-themed references that made them uncomfortable. Some houseguests refuse to go along with what production asks of them, others are happy to play the part and be a production puppet. Some (unfortunately) take it a step further and develop a persona for the show: I’m looking at you, Austin. Or perhaps Judas.
What houseguests are asked to say in the Diary Room more often than not relates to who production wants the houseguest to be on the show. I think we all know that casting process is somewhat formulaic in terms of the personalities that end up filling up the house. This translates to the show, particularly to resonate with a more casual audience, by having houseguests represent one dimensional characters like “the jock”, “the ditz”, “the nerd”, and “the bitch.” I believe the show does itself a true disservice by doing this. Nobody fits into a narrow box such as this and if they do, they aren’t worth having been cast in the first place.
All you have to do is watch some Diary room footage to figure out who production wants the houseguest to come across as. More often than not, it’s a one-dimensional stereotype of the actual personality. Sometimes they even take it a bit further with little bits that the producers request of the houseguests, such as Victoria holding up the little signs and hiding behind the chair during narration of a particularly explosive Power of Veto competition.
Zach Rance in the Diary Room (Source: CBS, Big Brother 16)
There are so few authentic moments in the Diary Room anymore. One in recent memory is Zach’s emotional breakdown after learning about Frankie’s sister and the fact that it wasn’t fair to the remaining houseguests to have him in there. Some of the best real, raw, authentic footage is kept on the cutting room floor. Emotionally vulnerable moments like those help humanize the houseguests and not turn them into one-dimensional, often unlikable characters.
Feed watchers like myself have two main reasons to tune into the non-live episodes, both of which involve viewing footage we are denied from watching on the feeds: the competitions and Diary Room footage. With the way things have evolved in recent years, the Diary Room is less and less of a push for me personally. I don’t care what production wants the houseguests to tell us, I want authentic thoughts directly from the houseguests, without the influence of production.
My advice to Big Brother players: be yourself in the Diary Room as much as production will allow. Be interesting enough where they won’t choose to ignore you, but at best, be an exaggerated version of yourself and let us inside your perspective. Take us on the journey with you.
And to the producers: people are cast each season to bring something different to the table. Let the houseguests shine, let them share their thoughts and find a way to let them be themselves, instead of forcing soundbites down their throats that probably don’t accurately depict their thoughts. I promise you, the show would be better for it.

Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Recap: Who Let The Lyme Out Of The Bag
Look – I’m just gonna say it, because it has to be said: Yolanda Foster should not be part of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills this season. If Yolanda is too ill to fully participate, she should have taken a leave of absence to selfie from the comfort of her bed.
It’s not that I believe illness or family tragedy have no place on a mostly fluffy reality show. I fully agree the storylines should be real and provide an honest-ish glimpse into these women’s lives. But Lyme Disease has infected everything! Plus Yolanda is not giving us realness (about her own life or, apparently, allegedly, her children’s?), nor is she giving us the aspirational living required from the WEALTHIEST Housewives zipcode. Instead she’s giving us… well I don’t know if it’s Chronic Lyme, misdiagnosed menopause, Munchausen by Wikipedia, denial over an ailing marriage, or silicone poisoning?
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!
I don’t know what is wrong with Yolanda, and I don’t actually care to speculate, but I don’t need to be a doctor to see she’s obviously in no condition to film a reality show centered around gaudy, wealthy women being catty over etiquette, social-status, age of husband, sexiness of career, and clothes. Yolanda’s presence has become a dark cloud of delusion, just lingering over the group, filled with unknown elements about to dump on their heads. It ain’t H2o, but it might be found in Yo’s monolithic medicine closet as guarded by Daisy. If Yolanda is too ill to put on makeup and exchange witty bon-mots over cocktails in luxury locales – STAY HOME and get well instead of creating an awkward pallor at every affair.
I fully support Yolanda recovering. I fully support this because Yolanda was AWESOME and I want to see Yolanda be this awesome again! I live for Yo of the Lemon Grove, hovering ever-so-slightly above the overly-shellacked tawdriness; her impeccably purified hubris glazing over the surface of inappropriate behavior. I LIVE for the Yolanda who dotes over David’s Grammy collection and casually throws dinner parties for A-listers while wearing tailored jeans. And I loved the Yolanda who could get a little crunk, while still maintaining her immaculately manicured condescension.
Truly, if I came to work in my pajamas (like if I had a real job not one where I worked from home), stumbling around telling illogical stories about Lyme-carrying flies and macrobiotic colon cleanses that evaporate silicone, my boss would tell me to take some time OFF. And Yolanda doesn’t even need this job!
Last night Yolanda wandered into Kyle Richards‘ dinner party looking like she got confused on her way to film a zombie scene for the Walking Dead. I understand she just had surgery, but that is what FMLA leave is for! Stay home. Do not stroll into a professionally catered “BBQ,” pretending that after 20+ years of trophy wife status you had no clue how women in Beverly Hills dress for dinner parties. Don’t play with the amateur act! Do not amble in looking like you’re headed to greasy diner brunch after a night of partying on frat row. Put on some damn pants – leggings are not pants even casually – and have Daisy, the health advocate, slap some under-eye concealer and mascara on you. They make organic, toxin-free makeup. I know. I own it. I bought it at Sephora for a reasonable price.
Likewise do not lecture a legion of over-processesd monied women, a group you were all too happy to be included into 16 seconds prior, about how their implants, botox, and hair dye will leak silicone into their brains thus killing them. And definitely do not pretend you don’t know that eco-nail polish exists! Do not spend the entire 15 minutes you attend the party pretending you are doing the hostess a favor by being there, then insulting every nuance of these guest’s lives while resenting them for having questions about why you are totally fine on Erika Girardi‘s private jet, with the personalized gourmet chocolate boxes, but can’t be bothered to lose the Sweating To The Oldies (in the privacy of my own home) ponytail. Next Yolanda is gonna wear a scrunchie and then I will have to sue Bravo for emotional distress.
In the real world friends would relish an ill friend’s inclusion, no matter how minimal, however, these women are not Yolanda’s friends – they are her co-workers. They are required to pick up the slack when she doesn’t put in effort – like calling her makeup artist over to dab on some eyeshadow. It’s probably because Yolanda doesn’t feel well, she doesn’t care. Nor does she feel like expending her little energy on going to dinner parties with fake bitches scrutinizing her every pore then recounting it to the viewing public. So why is she on this show?
In summary of this rant (in case you were wise enough to avoid reading it): I feel terrible for Yolanda, but if she is truly committed to getting well it’s time for her health journey to take her off Bravo until she’s recuperated.
Moving on! Ken hauls Lisa Vanderpump into a sex shop, but it’s not for the reasons you might expect! Ken leased the space with dreams of transforming it into a British pub. After the relief that Ken wasn’t trying to be 70 and spicy in the bedroom, Lisa toys with vibrating ducks (for the swans?) and shields Giggy’s tender eyes from dildos, before announcing she would prefer not to open another restaurant. Ken has dreams of it becoming Max’s business in 10 years, Lisa will always be haunted by the vision of sex swings when she walks through the door.
Kathryn Edwards has an axe to grind with Faye Resnick, that morally corrupt human she has never met who unfortunately encroached upon Kathryn’s past life by dragging her name into a salacious book written without fact checking. Today Kathryn is married to Donnie, a former NFL player 9-years her junior, who likes blue eyes, making responsible financial decisions, and offering sensible ultimatums (diamonds or kitchen renos?). Together they enjoy first-class world travel. Kathryn also enjoys calling people out from her stance as a man trapped in a woman’s body with midwestern roots that give her substance. Plus they drive a killer vintage Mercedes. Kathryn isn’t giving me Aviva Descher so much as Faye Dunaway (sorry for the unfortunately ironic name similarity).
Kathryn grabs breakfast with Lisa Rinna to talk lip implants (Lyme-causing POISON), and life. Kathryn and Donnie tried to have children, but couldn’t, considered adopting but decided dealing with other people’s kids was enough.
Eileen Davidson and her family are traveling to Italy to scatter her sister’s ashes. Eileen’s sister Connie never told anyone – including her daughter – she had terminal cancer, then suddenly died. Eileen feels guilty because she didn’t get her sister the care she needed. She decides to honor Connie posthumously by scattering her ashes in Italy, Connie’s favorite place.
Packing for 7 people – 4 of them imbecile men – is a challenge and Eileen’s nerves are fried. Eileen was giving me some serious mommy-realness that I love. In Italy, Eileen wearing the cutest romper, cries as she scatters Connie’s ashes over the balcony. It was emotional and heartfelt. Vince was not as supportive as I would have expected. Something’s off about those two…
Across town Kyle’s scheming is messy. She’s throwing a ‘casual BBQ,’ where she will allow worlds to organically collide by inviting both Faye (who, like a drunken hookup, never stops haunting you), and Kathryn. Kyle meets Faye at a furniture store to discuss her closet reno. The theme will merge LVP, Paris Hilton, and a Pier One Imports clearance outlet.
Near a lucite coffee table – a glutton for sticky fingerprints – Kyle and Faye dish on Kathryn. Kyle informs Faye that Kathryn’s coming – and coming for her. Faye balks – she’s “not ready” to discuss the painful past. Uh… apparently Faye has amnesia about the times she was more than happy to get paid to WRITE two books about it! Oh and flash her Hooha to bring awareness to domestic violence. Uh Huh. Not ready to be called out, more likely. Unfortunately Kyle just gave Faye ample time to prepare her defense!
On BBQ day Kyle matched her chairs with her kaftan (and nail polish). Kaftans go with everything, for any occasion, and konceal klumpy scheming.
At Villa Rosa, after stepping over swan shit Kathryn is greeted by Lisa grilling her about her age, her marital status, and if she’s prepared to sacrifice the color pink. Kathryn replies that black don’t crack and pink is for girls.
Lisa decides they’re BFF.
Erika arrives in jeans and is shocked to find Kyle in a “kaftan” – someone reads Reality Tea! #KaftanKyleJustKantKwit! I also believe Erika wore hot pink shoes on purpose. Erika is confused by this here BBQ: Where, pray tell, is the casualness, or the ribs? Instead it’s tuna tarte-tarte and tequila shots. Plus Faye wearing a really ill-advised belt. Class meets Crass.
Neither Kathryn nor Lisa are thrilled to see Faye. Kathryn bold-face shades her by saying hello to Erika while ignoring Kyle’s clumsy attempt at an introduction. When Lipsa spots Yolanda, in her gym attire, she is awkward as hell cause like oops the Munchausen was let out of the bag!
LVP still has a bone to pick with Faye over that time she was accused of being a chess player using Brandi to do her dirty work. Lisa and Lipsa scurry to the bar to talk shit about Faye, who just happens to wander by. Lipsa is all: “FAYE! FAYE! Over here! By the bar! I hear you and Vanderpump have beef? Awwwww… WHY?! Let’s discuss that!” Lisa has the lips that just won’t quit – and God love her. Lisa and Faye recognize the ridiculousness of dragging a non-feud out over about 400 Botox treatments. It’s as yesterday’s news as Brandi. Faye sure is on an image rehab, isn’t she? She gently justifies her behavior – she’s a protective person, just like Lisa is. Lisa snarks that she protected the wrong person. Touche! They tepidly agree to put the issue behind them.
Lisa gets revenge on Lipsa by dropping a slobbery dog tennis ball down her cleavage at the table. Check mate!
Then Yolanda dips out and Kyle gathers everyone around the table, where Faye is just so conveniently seated across from Kathryn.
At the end of the table, Lipsa admits she NEEDS to confess to Yolanda, while Erika’s watchful eyes slide back and forth. Erika has declared herself Yolanda’s protector. All the Munchausen talk turns into Kyle asking LVP if Bella and Anwar have Lyme. When Lisa is evasive, Kyle probes further by asking what Mohamed thinks.
This is the apex of the episode. I have thoughts.
Kyle goaded Lisa into the conversation with her messy-ass, but Lisa stepped deep into the swan shit. LVP looked surprised by the question. Lisa has been pissing me off royally this season with her uppitiness, but that conversation seemed edited to the hilt to make it appear a certain way. There was a bizarre pause after Lisa said “No.” like something was spliced out or over-dubbed.
Lisa demands Kyle change the subject numerous times, yet Kyle keeps pressing until Lisa threatens to come over there – mom-style. Even then Kyle continues badgering until Lisa resorts to gritted teeth. This is a MESS. A stinking swan turd mess of Hanky’s vile indigestion. WHAT IN THE HOLY DICKINSON HELL IS HAPPENING HERE? AND WHY THE LYME MADNESS?
Also – Kyle throws a hissy fit when people so much as mention Kim Richards, yet she’s demanding info from Lisa, that will have serious ramifications on her relationship with Mohamed? Hypocrite, much?
Erika abruptly changes the subject to Playboy. Cause if we’re being awkward as hell here! Which causally evokes the morally corruptness of Faye Resnick. Faye flees the table with Kyle chasing after to give a pep talk. A furious Kathryn promises to come at Faye over a subject she’s been stewing over for 20 years. Erika wonders if Kathryn ever read The Book? Kathryn admits she hasn’t, but knows the content of lies.
When Faye returns Kathryn confronts her, but Faye has no need to discuss the distant past, a different face ago. Kyle looks on with an ‘Oh NO! Why is this happening?!’ fake shocked face. Is it any wonder her acting career tanked?
Kathryn tries again but her guns blazing confrontation is more like Oops – forgot to lock and load. “Does it make you feel better?” condescends Faye, as if it were Kathryn who wrote a book filled with amoral half-truths.
Faye, rudely, stonewalled Kathryn, then fakely told her how pretty she looked. Kyle then gave a speech about what an amazing and dedicated friend Faye is. I was forced to emotionally eat brownies in response. Faye is the incarnate of evil. And Kyle, is her instrument of destruction. Satan is confusing! The End!

Eileen Davidson Sings Faye Resnick’s Praises: “She Is A Lovely Woman”
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Eileen Davidson was Andy Cohen’s guest on Watch What Happens Live last night. Eileen shared the spotlight with former Knots Landing actress Michelle Lee, who didn’t hesitate to defend Faye Resnick when her name inevitably came up. Actually, neither did Eileen.
At the mere mention of her name, Michelle said, “Faye Resnick is a very nice person.” Eileen added, “She is being slammed right now in the press for some reason. She is a lovely person and beautiful inside and out.” Surmising that the renewed interest in the O.J. Simpson murder case is the reason Faye‘s being dragged through the mud as of late, Eileen repeated, “She is a lovely woman.”

When asked about spreading her sister’s ashes in Italy, Eileen explained, “My sister loved Italy. She always thought she should have been an Italian opera singer (but she couldn’t sing). So I thought since were going to Italy it might be a great way – my niece Annamarie, her daughter, wanted to as well – to spread the ashes.”
Why is Lisa Vanderpump questioning everyone about their seemingly happy marriages?
“I don’t know, but I think Lisa is a very smart and savvy person and I don’t think she does anything unintentionally,” said Eileen. “Maybe she feels she needs to help things along or make things happen and that’s her way of doing it.”

Why wasn’t Eileen bothered when Brandi Glanville brought up her affair and marriage but made a big deal out of it when Lisa asked?
“I actually don’t think I made a big deal out of it with Lisa at all,” said Eileen. “I just went up to her and said, ‘I feel uncomfortable for the way you presented it.’ I’m not ashamed of how I met my husband. I feel responsibility to the people that aren’t on the show and didn’t sign on for it, so when the spotlight is shown on them, it makes me uncomfortable for them. Then also saying we were alone, as a reason for why she brought it up, just felt kind of icky to me.”

Is Bravo Demanding NeNe Leakes Return To Real Housewives Of Atlanta As A Full-Time Housewife?
NeNe Leakes finally returned to Real Housewives Of Atlanta and she seemed overjoyed to, once again, proclaim herself queen! She’ll be appearing as a part-time Housewife throughout the season, including showing up for the cast trip to Jamaica.
NeNe very publicly left Bravo to pursue other projects – including a return to Broadway and a high-profile ABC gameshow re-make. With all of that happening, plus a gig as a commentator on Fashion Police, NeNe doesn’t want to make full-time commitment to return Real Housewives Of Atlanta as an official Housewife.

According to sources, as reported by Straight From The A, Bravo is tired of NeNe vacillating and has given their highest paid Housewife an ultimatum: Either sign onto Real Housewives Of Atlanta next season as a full-time Housewife, or lose lucrative side-gigs with Bravo-affiliated networks! Bravo is owned by NBCUniversal Media, which also owns E! the network which airs Fashion Police.
“Even though there is tons of drama this year without her, with her back, it would just take the show to the next level,” reveals a source. “NeNe seems to think she is better than doing reality television and has moved on from RHOA. Going back would be a step back in her plan to become a global brand. She has a clothing line, and no longer wants to be associated with a reality show.”
RECAP: NENE REAPPEARS ON RHOA!
However – NeNe “loves being a part of Fashion Police,” and thinks it’s an important segue to promote her NeNe Leakes clothing line. Bravo has reportedly told NeNe her Fashion Police commentator gig is conditional to her return to Real Housewives Of Atlanta. “The network is ready to cut ties if she doesn’t agree to their terms,” maintains the insider. Ouch.
Undoubtedly NeNe is one of the highest profile names of the Housewives franchise – she’s channeled her appearance on the show into several lucrative gigs on network television, and obviously her widespread success benefits Bravo. NeNe has credited the show with launching her career, but has been adamant about the need to move on. In recent seasons she’s distanced herself and has called Real Housewives Of Atlanta for producer manipulation, encouraging and rewarding violence and negativity, and fake, phony women who aren’t even from Atlanta.
NeNe even resorted to sending cease and desist letters to Kenya Moore and Claudia Jordan over their comments about NeNe’s personal life. I will say, NeNe was right about ALL of her complaints! Carlos King, a long-time executive producer was fired over his constant feuding with NeNe, but also for reportedly bringing on New Housewives for the sole purpose of starting drama with her. Carlos was brought back when NeNe quit.
This season Real Housewives Of Atlanta started as promised, that with the addition of Kim Fields, its classing itself up and focusing fewer phony storylines. So far I don’t really see evidence of that, but we’re only halfway through. And reportedly the show is STILL filming additional scenes!

Dance Moms Recap: Don’t Get Mad(die) About It!
Those of us who have been watching Dance Moms for a hot second are no strangers to Abby Lee Miller melt downs, but last night certainly took the cake, didn’t it? As last night’s episode unfolds, Abby is in crisis mode at the ALDC LA studio, hair in hot rollers, dramatic phone call, and lots and lots of tears. The girls and their moms congregate at 7:30 in the morning, and everyone is thrilled to welcome Maddie back into the mix. Maddie catches up her friends on her rise to stardom, and they are just as excited for her as she is humble. It’s cute to see them and realize there is a tiny bit that is still genuine about this show. Her Hollywood escapades are interrupted by Abby screeching in the next room, and the mothers plot to send in the mini troupe to check on her. Their girls certainly don’t want that responsibility!
As the minis and moms converge on the studio, Jess quickly directs them to the back room where Abby is braless and sobbing on her cell. It’s beyond awkward, and the mini moms retreat. After they contain their giggles, Melissa and Jill try to coax Abby out of the back room, but she screams at them to leave. Melissa is peeved. Maddie just scored a prime photo shoot, and Abby needs to be excited for her daughter. Ashlee is upset that Abby isn’t focused on the newbies, and she goes head to head with Jill over who is more passive aggressive. Ashlee accuses Kendall of being as hateful as her mother, and Jill shrieks into the parking lot (followed by Melissa) to find photographers from Seventeen Magazine hoping to document Maddie’s time with the ALDC. Jill recalls that Abby didn’t want any outside projects, but Maddie is always an exception.

Jill tries to reign in her crazy to get her daughter a spot in the spread. The mothers are climbing over each other hoping to get their girls featured in Seventeen, and the excitement is enough to bring Abby out of her cave. The editors are vying for Nia, even when Abby tries to lead them elsewhere. Regardless of her opinions, the editors want Nia. After all, she’s a mini-Beyonce. They shut out most of the elite team, finally asking Kendall to join Maddie and Nia at the shoot. MacKenzie, JoJo, and Brynn are too young, and Kalani doesn’t fit “their look.” Abby wants the girls to focus on their competition. Sure, the Seventeen shoot is a big deal for Maddie and Kendall (um, and NIA?? HELLO??), but her girls need to win. The pyramid is glossed over, and Abby announces that the minis will be competing as well. Maddie and Brynn will be going head to head in their solo division.
When Ashlee and Jessalyn are left alone in the viewing room, Ashlee confides that she’s happy to be with a mom who knows what it feels like to be an outsider. What’s wrong with Jill? Is she going through menopause? Jess urges Ashlee to keep her mouth shut. They’ve all had to be the new mom at some point, and it’s much easier to cope if no one is stirring up unnecessary drama. The following day, Maddie, Kendall, and Nia are prepping for the Seventeen photo shoot, and Maddie reveals to the photographer that Jill probably craves the spotlight far more than her daughter. Back at the ALDC studio, Abby is working with minis, hoping that one of them will carry on her tremendous legacy…much like Maddie is doing now. Ashlee warns the mini-moms that elite mothers are crazy and not to be trusted, and Jess takes great offense to this statement…even if it’s true. Jess calls the mothers to rehash Ashlee’s comments, and Jill laughs at the thought she’s going through menopause. That so happened a decade ago! 😉
The minis are working on their solo, and their moms are on cloud nine that their girls are being highlighted. Jess finds the young group to be a hot mess, and Ashlee and Jessalyn heap their critiques on the mini-moms. Your child isn’t picking up on turns. Your four-year-old is slow with choreography. Yeah. She like just learned how to walk. In Abby’s absence, Gia is working on the elite team’s group number. The mothers have just received an e-mail that Abby is resigning from the ALDC. The mini-moms are confused. Abby seemed to happy last night. Holly would like to introduce them to Abby’s see-saw of crazy emotions. Maddie practices her Bond Girl solo as Melissa beams from the wings, wishing Abby was here to see her daughter’s talent. She also wants to stick it to Ashlee when Maddie beats Brynn.
On the day of competition, Abby is MIA, and the mothers (mini and elite) are shocked. Doesn’t she want to see Maddie compete against Brynn? Only Holly keeps a level head about the fact that Abby’s most consistent trait is her unpredictability. Maddie dances her solo first, and she is amazing. It’s refreshing to see her do well in a routine that isn’t a lyrical piece. Brynn performs next after a pep talk from Kalani, and she’s stellar as well. I prefer Maddie’s choreography, but we’re all aware I know absolutely nothing about dance. Holly agrees. Both girls gave standout performances, but Melissa and Ashlee bicker back and forth (and Jessalyn and Jill side with Melissa) about their daughter’s routines. Ashlee retaliates by criticizing JoJo’s technique. Is there going to be a fight up in here?
With Abby missing, the elite team takes the minis under their wing, grooming them (and spraying their hair) for their first group routine while showering them with praise. The minis are far more talented than I could ever be, and given their average age is six, that’s impressive. Of course, given my two left feet and tone deaf demeanor, Honey Boo Boo could out dance me. The minis rocked their first competition and Jess hates that Abby wasn’t there to see it…and that one kid she’s been ragging on did better than expected too. Win-win? The elite team performs and they look like the missing members of T-Swift’s squad. I don’t love the dance, but the girls execute it beautifully. Dare I say MacKenzie is a beat behind? At the awards ceremony, Brynn scores fourth place in the overall solo division with Maddie placing second. Melissa feels robbed and Maddie plasters on a smile. The mini group doesn’t even realize they’ve place second in their age group, but the elite team takes the top spot. Backstage, the minis are moping, and the Seventeen photographer gifts the girls with a sneak peak of the photo shoot. The mini moms hope that Abby will be more present going forward, and Gia pisses off Melissa by confirming that Brynn’s solo was harder than Maddie’s. Cue World War III as the moms scream about Brynn losing to Maddie. Good times!
