Why It Was So Easy For Kody Brown’s Exes To Bond Over Him

The patriarch of Sister Wives, Kody Brown, makes it almost too easy for those close to him to develop a loathing that is unlike any other. For over ten years, TLC viewers have become acquainted with Kody’s lack of ethics as he allowed his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, to pick apart his polygamous dream. As the seasons wore on, Kody made himself into the perfect villain, leaving no wife untouched by his selfish attitude. So it makes sense that the scorned women would bond over their mutual disdain for Kody.

The I Hate Kody Fan Club

During the recent season of Sister Wives, Kody declared he and Robyn were a “common enemy” for Christine Brown and Janelle Brown. Both his second and third wives left Kody after decades of marriage, with both women bonding over their disdain for him. Kody isn’t a fan of Christine and Janelle’s new dynamic, noting, “It’s interesting that Christine and Janelle have a newfound relationship because I think it was more antagonistic before.”

Comments like this make it easy for the two moms to unite in their dislike of Kody because he is so obviously trying to push his accountability onto them. Even though the father of 18 tries to act like he wishes that wasn’t the case, it is exactly what he wanted—a life free of stress and married only to Robyn. Kody believes Janelle and Christine have nothing good to say about him, and honestly, they probably don’t.

Kody Ignores His Fatherly Duties

Another reason that it is so easy for all the exes, including Meri Brown, to bond over why they don’t like Kody is his ability to write off any responsibility regarding his older children. It came as quite a shock when Kody ever so surely slowly started to gravitate away from involving himself with his first three wives’ spawn. There have also been numerous instances of Kody refusing to step up and actually letting his children down.

Fans could first see that Christine became angry when Kody refused to attend Ysabel Brown‘s spine surgery. Kody claimed he needed to stay with Robyn’s children to protect them, but a few months later, he was more than happy to oversee a friend’s wedding. He then tried to kick Gabe Brown and Garrison Brown out of Janelle’s home for not agreeing with him. The lack of love would make any mother furious enough to start to hate her husband.

The Sister Wives Can Bond Over Divorce

Best friends have a way of convincing one another to do things they wouldn’t normally do. And the same goes for Janelle, who shared, via People, that she might have stayed married to Kody if it weren’t for Christine’s divorce. The mother of six shared that “It was heartbreaking for me when Christine left because all of a sudden the family was this whole different identity, and Christine had always been a big part of what I perceived was the family identity.”

Janelle has always been a huge supporter of the polygamous family, but it must have been hard to wear blinders to the issues going on within her own marriage. Janelle explained, “My children gravitate towards her. They always say to me, ‘Mom, wherever Christine is, we want to be for the holidays.’ Or whatever. So that was taking away a big part—or a big heart—of the family for us.”

Polygamy Didn’t Help Any of Them

Sadly, I believe that Meri, Janelle, and Christine could all bond together over the fact that their religion failed them. Whether it was because polygamy is flawed or Kody was a mere mortal is up for debate. But just taking a look at Kody only goes to prove that he was a selfish man who wanted to claim to be something he was not—a perfect husband to four women.

The ex-wives can now sit over a cup of tea and really rehash their shared journeys. I would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation since Kody’s ears would definitely be burning.

The Worst Kept Vanderpump Rules Secrets

The trailer for Vanderpump Rules has made the rounds, and we are here for the mess within. In this, however, a long-kept secret was revealed. This got us thinking. Over the years, this friend group has really sucked at keeping private matters hidden, no?

As Ally Lewber expressed in the shocking Season 11 trailer, “nothing in this group ever stays a secret.” She’s right, luckily…for us. We love a good uncovered truth. Therefore, let’s take a look back at some of the other worst kept secrets throughout Vanderpump Rules’ history.

All of Jax’s Indiscretions

During Jax Taylor‘s first 8 seasons on VPR, he was often accused of cheating on his girlfriends. His first reaction was to deny and lie. But the women in this cast talk, and dig, and therefore, all of Jax’s indiscretions came to the light.

Starting in Season 1, Jax insisted that he wasn’t unfaithful to Stassi Schroeder. Unable to keep his own secret, in the finale, Jax admitted that the allegations of his cheating in Las Vegas were true. In Season 2, a rumor began that Jax and Kristen Doute had hooked up, while Kristen was dating Tom Sandoval. After repeatedly denying this, Kristen finally confessed, as Jax had given Stassi access to their text messages, so the truth was coming out anyways.

During Season 6, Faith Stowers alleged that she had sex with Jax, who was dating Brittany Cartwright at the time. Even though Jax denied this, he later had to confess, as a recorded conversation between himself and Faith was unearthed. Basically, Jax lied often about cheating. His secrets were some of the worst kept on VPR though, as the truth always surfaced.

Stassi’s Cheating On Jax

After Jax cheated on her, Stassi slept with Frank Herlihy, but when she was called out, she lied. “This is so awful—I lied to Andy Cohen,” a 2016 uncensored episode saw Stassi admitting. “I just had to say no and fight to the death.” Stassi tried to keep her affair hidden, but in true VPR fashion, her secret was poorly kept.

Sandoval Kissed Ariana After All

Around the time Kristen and Jax hooked-up, Kristen insisted that Sandoval was cheating on her with Ariana Madix. While both Sandoval and Ariana denied this, Sandoval eventually came clean to Stassi.

He admitted to only kissing Ariana but denied that they had ever slept together, prior to his relationship with Kristen ending, that is. Stassi always made Sandoval chirp, as both his worst-kept secrets and his tempers typically failed in her presence.

Miami Girl

After Sandoval and Ariana started dating, an angry Kristen flew out a woman named Annemarie. This woman claimed to have slept with Sandoval while he was with Ariana. When Annemarie walked into SUR, Sandoval and Ariana took off, and for years, they both denied Sandoval’s involvement with the “Miami Girl.” However, post a messy Season 10, Ariana gave Sandoval up on Watch What Happens Live.

“They slept together. It was before he and I were exclusive. I didn’t want people to think the absolute worst of the man I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with, so I defended him,” Ariana explained.

Sandoval’s Miami Girl secret was not as well-kept as he had planned, because a scorned Vanderpump Rules woman will always expose the truth.

All of Schwartz’s Indiscretions

This season on Vanderpump Rules, the aforementioned secret that’s finally revealed is about Tom Schwartz and Scheana Shay, as they apparently kissed while Schwartz was with Katie Maloney. “I made out with Scheana in Vegas, and nobody knows that,” Schwartz tells a wide-eyed Lala Kent. Exasperated, Scheana stated that this was supposed to be a secret that was taken to the grave. Oops.

Just like Jax, none of Schwartz’s many indiscretions ever remained secretive. During Season 3, he was accused of making out with someone while with Katie. On this, he sold himself out, but also played it off, saying that he had “just” kissed her. After Schwartz and Katie wed, Schwartz admitted again in Season 6 that he had drunkenly made out with one of Lala’s friends, because when it comes to keeping his own secrets, Schwartz is the worst.

Lala and James’ Secret(s)

It took eight long years before James Kennedy and Lala came clean on their little secret. In Season 4, these twin flames were intimate after all. Their tryst occurred at the beginning of James’ relationship with Rachel Leviss, while Lala was also starting to date Randall Emmett. This now poorly-kept secret was revealed during Season 10, when Lala mentioned it all to Rachel.

James also self-revealed a secret in Season 4, as right after he lied to Kristen’s face, promising her that he didn’t sleep with another SUR employee, he took to a confessional and giddily said, “The truth is, Jenna and I were definitely boning.”

Ew, James. Also, what is up with all of these Vanderpump Rules cast members being unable to keep their own secrets hidden? Not that we’re mad. These worst-kept secrets have made for great television, so, keep spilling the tea, all.

Scandoval

This last poorly-kept secret just occurred during Season 10. Here, Sandoval and Ariana ended their nine-year relationship, as Ariana had discovered Sandoval’s hidden affair with Rachel. This bombshell revelation became known as “Scandoval,” and over the course of a few months, so many hidden secrets were uncovered. From covert dates to hook-ups, it all slipped out.

This dark event marked a turning point for Vanderpump Rules. The ratings went through the roof, and sleuths combed through old footage, looking for clues of this affair’s existence in earlier episodes. Whether or not Season 11 can maintain this momentum, we’ll have to wait and see. That said, as the cast members on VPR are the worst at keeping secrets, we likely have several additional seasons of drama left on tap.

Everything Robyn Dixon’s Co-Stars Have Said About Juan’s Cheating Scandal

Robyn Dixon‘s complicated relationship with her husband Juan Dixon has been the main topic of conversation on Season 8 of Real Housewives of Potomac.

The former NBA player found himself in hot water in January 2023 when an influencer claimed he received a DM from a woman who claimed she dated Juan for a year during the COVID-19 pandemic. The woman submitted a hotel receipt with Juan’s name on it as evidence.

Robyn addressed the rumor on an episode of her and Gizelle Bryant‘s podcast, Reasonably Shady, in January. She told viewers that Juan did communicate with the woman over Instagram, but they “did not date.”

As to why his name was on the hotel receipt, oh boy, get ready for this one. Juan told Robyn the woman reached out to him and told him she was traveling to Maryland from Canada to visit her boyfriend, who played for the Baltimore Ravens. When she got to the States, she lost her wallet and was unable to pay for her hotel, so she called Juan, who decided to be a good samaritan and cover the hotel bill.

We aren’t totally buying Juan’s story, and neither are Robyn’s RHOP co-stars. Here is everything Robyn Dixon’s co-stars have said about Juan’s cheating rumors.

Karen Doesn’t Believe the Lies

The Grand Dame of Potomac isn’t buying what Juan is selling. Karen Huger shared her thoughts on Juan’s hotel story in an interview with Us Weekly. The RHOP star said she wants to be supportive of her friend Robyn but has difficulty doing so as long as Robyn is standing behind her husband’s story.

“I want her to win, but I want her to stop lying,” she told the outlet. “If she can’t stop lying, what I’d like Robyn to do is accept the fact that we don’t believe their lies.”

“Own it and stop being ridiculous about it,” she added. “Things happen in everyone’s marriage. I’ve been married for 27 years. It’s not easy, but she needs to put it at ease and especially if you’re going to be a member of this core group.”

In a separate interview with Us Weekly at BravoCon 2023, the 60-year-old shared how she would’ve handled infidelity rumors about Ray. “I’d be divorced. Yeah, it’d be over,” she told the publication. “It’d really, really, Ray. No.”

Gizelle Finds Juan’s Story ‘Hard to Believe’

Gizelle always has Robyn’s back, but that doesn’t mean she has Juan’s. The 53-year-old has admitted on Watch What Happens Live that she finds Juan’s story “hard to believe.” Gizelle might be Robyn’s bestie, but that doesn’t mean she’s not going to address Juan’s cheating rumors. We’ve seen her grill both Robyn and Juan about the affair on RHOP Season 8, and we hope she continues to dig for answers.

Candiace Think Robyn Is Covering For Juan

Candiace Dillard Bassett has been candid about not believing the stories Juan has been telling. In a recent episode of RHOP, Candiace told her mom she believes Robyn is covering for her husband. “I don’t believe the stories that she’s telling,” she said.

Candiace has also shared she felt betrayed by Robyn for keeping the affair rumors a secret in Season 7. “I felt bamboozled,” she said to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in April 2023. “How can you all carry this fake story about Chris [Bassett] across the United States and back when you know there is a real scandal afoot in Potomac.”

Wendy Osefo can spot bullsh*t a mile away, and her BS radar seems to be pointed right at Juan. At a BravoCon panel this year, Wendy called Robyn “delusional.”

“I’m rooting for her marriage. But Robyn is delusional,” she said. “We address her delusion throughout this season, and we hold her accountable. But you know, you can take a horse to the water, but you can’t make them drink.”

Mia ‘Understands’ Why Robyn Wanted to Keep the Rumors a Secret

Mia Thornton has a unique perspective on Robyn and Juan’s situation. Mia has always been less conservative than her co-stars, so it’s no surprise she has a more nuanced take on the situation.

During an appearance on the Page Six podcast, Virtual Reali-Tea, in May, Mia showed compassion for her co-star’s situation.

“It’s a very touchy situation…and they’re trying to figure things out. There’s a lot of pain, there’s a lot of hurt,” she said. “Does she really want to talk about this on national television, especially if they’ve already moved forward? Probably not.”

“I get it. I understand why she left it alone,” she added.

Why Lala and Scheana’s Christmas Song Is Everything VPR Fans Need

Who knew all I needed to feel holiday cheer was a simple yet catchy song by Vanderpump Rules stars Lala Kent and Scheana Shay? Season 11 is about to grace our screens shortly after the New Year. The storyline is bound to be heavy, so it is nice to have the two moms add a bit of levity before the new season drops.

Both Lala and Scheana have had their fair share of drama, so it is quite clever that the two banded together to mock the scandals of the past 12 months and make a bit of cash from their troubled times. Even though Lala and Scheana’s song, “Christmas Slay,” might not be as classic as “White Christmas,” it is definitely a one-hit-wonder I won’t mind hearing every holiday season. The Christmas jingle is a bop, just like “Apples,” and is classic Scheana (and Lala). This is a jam that every VPR fan should add to their holiday playlist.

Forgive me, but I forgot that Lala had a decent set of pipes. The autotune doesn’t ruin the song at all, but the big surprise is Lala’s raw talent. She not only sings along with her bestie but also adds a flashy rap bit in the middle. Let’s just hope the two don’t have to perform it live because, if so, poor Scheana.

Fans will recall Lala collaborated with James Kennedy on his song, “Feeling You.” Lala is actually an accomplished singer and has held her own music showcase. The mother of one has also worked with DJ Duffey and music producer Sean2 Miles. Why she hasn’t made more of an effort in the music business is unknown, but I appreciate how she is giving herself a moment to shine like the North Star.

‘Tis the season to be messy…though I thought it was about spreading good cheer. Anyway, Lala and Scheana made sure to add a bit of snark to their song directed at the former pageant girl and her part in the group’s demise. A few Easter eggs were dropped into the tune. In one line, Scheana raps,

“It’s Christmastime, and I’m tryin’ to push off the naughty list

You catch my drift?”

“I wanna be an angel, not a Rachel, bitch.”

Scheana even jokingly referenced Rachel Leviss putting a temporary restraining order on her, noting, “Merry Christmas to you. No more TROs!”

Vanderpump Rules fans will recall that Scheana and Rachel found themselves in an alleged brawl, with Rachel claiming Scheana pushed her and then slugged her. The charges were eventually dropped, but it is clear that Scheana is holding a grudge. How very Grinch-like.

The ladies knew who to pander to, as they also mentioned some iconic Bravo moments and stars from the last year. During the second stanza, Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, and Shannon Beador were mentioned with the girls crooning, “It’s the tres amigas, sippin’ tequilas.” A 90210 housewife was also mentioned with the line reading, “Lip service to Santa like Lisa Rinna‘s.”

Perhaps the best shoutout was for Erika Jayne as the SURvers sang, “And the verdict came in, and we’re keeping the earrings.” Who knew the sing-song would be so heavy with Pretty Mess shoutouts?

From the cover art to the actual lyrics, this has Scheana and Lala written all over it. I mean, even Scheana’s cover art is showing her good side. Though the cover gives me early 2000s Pinterest, I am still here for it and might even frame it for my next Christmas card.

If I had to pick a favorite line, it would have to be, “I hope Saint Nick don’t catch me acting like a ho ho ho.” Basically, the ditty is funny and cringeworthy in a cute way. Some may feel it is a bit crude to make fun of someone in a Christmas song, but this is how the Bravosphere spins.

Really, I hate myself for loving it and hope that Santa gives me a pass for my questionable holiday music.

The Below Deck franchise has brought us a lot this year. New crew members, familiar faces, drama, intense accusations, and friendships—all of this took place, and all of it was wild. As we begin to say our goodbyes to this year, we’re looking back at everything that’s transpired on deck. In turn, these are our top picks for Below Deck’s highs and lows of 2023.

High – BDDU’s Epic Leadership

Below Deck Down Under Season 2 gave us a massive high with its leadership. Chief Stew Aesha Scott and Captain Jason Chambers are two of the best Captain-First Stew pairings at sea. This year saw the duo facing two separate sexual assault attempts while in between charters. On each, they handled their team members with respect and care, while swiftly removing the perpetrators from the yacht.

Aesha and Captain Jason are literally the dream team. They are firm and kind, and they both know how to handle conflict, sans any additional drama. Their epic leadership skills made this entire season “ah-maaaazzziing.” Truly, Aesha and Captain Jason can never leave, as they are our favorite Below Deck high from 2023.

Sing it with me, You take the good you take the bad and there you have the asshats named Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne. These two disgraced yachties worked alongside Aesha and Captain Jason on BDDU Season 2. To explain why they suck, Luke drunkenly crawled into Margot Sisson‘s bunk looking to score, despite her spoken “no.” Similarly, Laura ignored Adam Kodra‘s “no,” while also making light of Luke’s actions.

On Luke, production stepped in to save the day. They forced Luke’s naked, pasty body out of Margot’s cabin, which made Luke mad, while we all cheered from our couches. Aesha alerted Captain Jason, who immediately sent Luke to a hotel. The very next day, Luke lost his job.

With Luke now gone, his bestie Laura was crushed. Therefore, Laura began to express that Luke hadn’t done anything wrong, other than picking the wrong girl to try and score with. I’m channeling Dan Levy here as I type-yell “EW, LAURA!” She also continually tried to score with Adam, who in turn had to keep turning her advances down.

Needless to say, Laura walked the plank as well. Luke and Laura were the absolute worst parts of this entire franchise this year. They therefore earned their spots well, making them our lowest of lows for Below Deck 2023.

High – BDSY’s Entire Season 4 Crew (Minus Gary King)

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 featured yet another love triangle with Gary King, but we are choosing to leave him for the section just below, which I’m sure is not shocking for anyone with a pulse. Despite Gary, this crew goes down as our favorite combined group of yachties. Ileisha Dell, Alex Propson, Lucy Edmunds, Mads Herrera, Chase Lemacks, and even our failed lovebirds of Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae all showed up and showed out this season.

What made this crew so darn likeable was that everyone knew how to do their jobs well, and their teamwork onboard was excellent. They were all also great humans, who in turn formed genuine friendships during filming. To date, this group remains tight, often posting images of their meet-ups on land. For the levity that these yachties brought, we choose them as one of our high’s for Below Deck 2023.

Low – The Accusations Against Gary King

Gary often comes across as a creeper on BDSY. He loves the ladies, and weirdly, many of them have loved him right back. However, post filming for Season 4, Gary was called out, big time. In a disturbing Rolling Stone article, Samantha Suarez from the production team claimed that Gary had attempted to force himself on her during filming, while several additional voices also stated that they’ve witnessed Gary “constantly” making women uncomfortable.

Gary’s time is now up. He was removed from BravoCon 2023, and his future on this hit series lies in the balance. These accusations are very serious, and as they have come from multiple people, they cannot be taken lightly. Therefore, the allegations made against Gary are easily one of our lows for Below Deck in 2023.

High – Fraser Olender’s Chief Stew Showing

Kate Chastain left large, snarky shoes to fill after walking away from the Below Deck franchise. Luckily, her male twin, Fraser Olender, rose up this year, taking Kate’s place rather well. Overall, Fraser is witty, fashionable, and makes for excellent confessionals. Though his leadership skills saw a few tweaks needed this year, he rose to the occasion, making him one of our 2023 highs for the Below Deck franchise.

Low – We Said Goodbye To The Stud of The Sea

Captain Lee Rosbach kicked off the entire Below Deck franchise in Season 1, and he stayed on until Season 10, becoming the face of this hit Bravo series. He lead with wit and charm, and his unflappable way with words has seen hundreds of memes and quotes becoming iconic. Sadly, after filming for Season 10, it was revealed that Captain Lee was not invited back to film for Season 11.

Our hearts sank at this news, and we know that we are not alone in our feelings on this matter. Captain Lee breathed heart and sass into this series, and we will miss his presence tremendously on our screens. Therefore, Captain Lee’s removal from this ~~series~~ family has to go on our 2023 list of lows found on Below Deck.
