Does Summer House Need a Reboot After Season 9?

Summer House returns on Wednesday, February 12 on Bravo. The trailer released in December promised yelling, summer romances, and a heated exchange between exes Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard. What more could you ask for?

While I’m excited about the new season, I’m unsure about the show’s future, especially since Carl and Lindsay spit last summer. We know reality TV stars are used to living in weird circumstances but sharing a home with your pregnant ex-fiance may be too much even for a Bravoleb. In November, news broke that the Bravo series Vanderpump Rules will return for Season 12 with a brand new cast. The announcement made me think about the Summer House crew and ponder what a reboot would look like. There are a couple of reasons why I think a reboot may be a good move for the network. Let’s discuss them together.

Too many exes on Summer House

Like Vanderpump Rules, The Summer House cast is haunted by their exes. When the series first began, breakups between the cast were no biggie. Most of the failed romances were summer flings, but as the show progressed (and the cast got older), the flings turned into full-on relationships, making the splits far messier than before.

Last year, Carl and Lindsay ended their engagement three months before their wedding. The split put the cast in a difficult position and made fans question the show’s future. Unlike VPR exes Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix, Lindsay and Carl agreed to film together the following season. The Season 9 trailer teased that the former couple will get into multiple heated arguments this season, including one debate about whether Carl was unfaithful in the relationship. Big yikes.

After watching the trailer, I can’t help but worry about the long-term trajectory of the show. Spending the summers with your former fiance cannot be good for a person’s mental health. It doesn’t seem sustainable. Not to mention, Lindsay is pregnant with another man’s baby. I know reality TV is built on dysfunction and mess but this feels like another level of insanity.

The Summer House cast is growing up

Initially, Summer House was marketed as a series about twenty-something and thirty-something singles partying in the Hamptons and hooking up with each other. The cast was always a bit more professional than the Vanderpump Rules gang but they were still young, messy, and careless. Eight seasons later, that is no longer the case. The cast has grown up a lot since the series first aired in 2017. Paige DeSorbo created a podcast empire, Kyle Cooke is a CEO DJ, and Lindsay is starting a family. The days of passing out in the pool after a booze-filled rager may be behind them. After all, Kyle is a 42-year-old man! A DJ-ing 42-year-old man.

The cast’s achievements made their parents proud but reality TV fans were less enthused. We miss the mess. We can’t help it. A reboot could revive the show and allow the OG cast to enter a new phase of life.

Not enough authentic relationships on Summer House

Season 1 of Summer House followed a tight-knit friend group spending the summer together in the Hamptons. The drama felt authentic because it was a real friend group, but as the years went on, the real friendships dwindled, and the series began to feel over-produced. While there are certainly some real friendships on the show (Paige, Ciara Miller, and Amanda Batula are adorable together), the cast chemistry overall is not what it once was. It may be time to invest in a new friend group.

I love the cast of Summer House and would love to see them explore new avenues on Bravo and reality television after Season 9. For example, if Paige isn’t on Season 4 of The Traitors, I’m protesting. But despite my affinity for the cast, I’m unsure if Summer House is sustainable after Lindsay and Carl’s split. There is too much tension. It may be time for the network to consider other options.

Here’s Why It’s Hard to Spot Tom Holland & Zendaya on the Red Carpet Together

Tom Holland is proving to be the ultimate green flag boyfriend. In a recent interview with Men’s Health, the actor opened up about attending Zendaya’s film premieres but opting out of walking the red carpet with her. Although Holland and Zendaya are considered one of the IT couples in Hollywood, they are known to maintain a low-key profile. This is also why their rare joint public appearances catch significant attention from both paps and fans. Moreover, Holland’s reason for not making a red carpet appearance with Zendaya is not only reasonable but also adorable.

Tom Holland opened up about all things professional and personal, including his public appearances at Zendaya’s film premieres, in his recent interview with Men’s Health as the outlet’s first cover star of 2025. There is a reason why fans don’t frequently spot the actor walking the red carpet with Zendaya for her movie premieres. The MCU star explained that their joint appearance might distract everyone from her achievements or her big day. As it is, Holland’s perspective towards the couple’s joint red carpet appearances speaks volumes about their mutual respect for each other.

In a candid conversation with Men’s Health, Holland expressed that he avoided red carpet appearances with Zendaya at her premieres to avoid making it about them. Explaining further, he said, “Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us.”

Holland is raising the standards for all the boyfriends out there. His conscious choice of not making joint red carpet appearances with Zendaya is only logical. While the two might accompany each other for a movie they shot together like Marvel’s “Spider-Man,” he wouldn’t want to take the limelight away from Zendaya at her movie premieres. Furthermore, given her show-stopping outfits on red carpets, it is only fair that all the lights and cameras capture her rather than make it about the couple.

Meanwhile, Tom Holland and Zendaya have walked the red carpet together for the Marvel movies they both starred in. These include “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Their next joint red carpet appearance would likely be in 2026 for “Spider-Man 4” and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”

The internet wasn’t ready for this racy and dazzling New Year’s dump but it’s officially here. Georgina Rodríguez recapped the Dubai beach life in new Instagram photos, posing in a string bikini and other gorgeous outfits to ring in 2025. The flashy stills showcased her relaxing time by the beach and celebrations with friends and family. Rodríguez documented the sunny days perfect for taking dips in the warm ocean water and dizzy nights with fireworks and all the razzle-dazzle.

In the first two slides, the Argentine-Spanish model posed in picturesque settings wearing barely-there outfits. She delivered a striking pose, lying on a beachside deck chair, almost covering her face with a sun hat. She wore a sexy two-piece in the photo. Meanwhile, in the next photo, Rodríguez posed inside the water during the golden hour, donning a see-through Bratz top and bikini bottoms, exposing her backside to the camera. The following snaps captured her in a slinky halterneck dress with a fuzzy overcoat. The thread then comprised random clicks, including showing off her sunburn and sultry pool time.

While the bikini photos seemed never-ending, Georgina Rodríguez also flaunted cozy time with Cristiano Ronaldo and their children. The former Disney star revealed in the post’s caption, “new year’s resolution no more d—k jokes it’s gonna be really hard,” but it seems like she is already unable to follow it. Carpenter delivered yet another dreamy look as she slipped into a blue-white snowflake-adorned dress. The full-length velvet gown featured a strapped low neckline and silver beaded detailing along the trim. Moreover, the straight piece accentuated Carpenter’s curves with its cinched waistline.

Carpenter further elevated the ethereal look with a warm white fur stole, with her signature blonde hair styled in a loose updo. It does not seem unusual that Jennifer Lopez kicked off the new year by serving major body goals in a seductive bikini photo on Instagram. To ring in 2025, J.Lo posed in a barely-there stringy two-piece set, a cowboy hat, and fuzzy boots in the thirst trap she posted in her since-deleted Instagram Stories. She later dropped the same photos in a reel, recapping her enthralling New Year’s in Aspen with friends and family.

Jennifer Lopez is thirst-trapping her way into 2025 while setting body goals in an itty-bitty bikini from her trip to Aspen, Colorado. Standing in what appeared to be a white bathroom backdrop, the 55-year-old posed in a black triangle bikini with gold beaded detailing. In addition, she sported fuzzy calf-length snow boots and a black cowboy hat, which was pulled down to cover her eyes, to bring some winter heat to the table.

Lopez also added a gold chain to the look for a more striking combination. Later, the actor added these racy photos in a snow-filled New Year’s reel, flaunting her toned body. The video compiled short clips and photos of memorable moments from her recent trip to ski resort town, which seemed like a popular holiday site in 2024. Other celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Kevin Costner, Kyle Richards, and Goldie Hawn also visited Aspen ahead of Christmas and in the days that followed to either spend time shopping or take time away from the city’s hustle-bustle.

As for Jennifer Lopez’s Instagram Reel, it recaps her ideal vacation with her sister, Lynda Lopez, and other friends. J.Lo appeared to be wearing some of her more fashionable outfits as she spent cozy time snuggled up by the lit-up Christmas tree with her family. The stills also showed her posing with a snowman and her two children, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. To welcome the new year, the musician and performer also posed under a banner and included pictures of fireworks, skiing, and exploring the town with friends in several photos.

Selling the City Review: Is Netflix’s Latest Real Estate Reality Show Worth the Watch?

What’s that I can smell? Another new Netflix real estate show bringing together incredibly pretty people all battling against one another to sell the most expensive, luxury properties in a highly-competitive American market? Well yes indeed. This time round, it’s New York City, and the Netflix original is aptly-titled Selling the City. Hopefully they won’t broach Ryan Serhant’s Manhattan borders; he does own the area, after all…

Selling the City on Netflix introduces some new faces, and one familiar real estate giant

The cast is introduced walking through NYC, but not big boss lady Eleonora. Instead, she flies in via helicopter. She’s someone who means business, and her first meeting with her mainly-female team shows that while she’s happy to have a laugh, the company and sales come first. “I want to have more impactful and monumental sales.” Basically, do your job, and do it well – or go.

Despite the smiles, it feels like Abi might be at the root of some issues for the rest of the agents. She’s the newbie, and not everybody trusts her. Abi throws shade in confessional, questioning whether it’s because of her time in the industry, or simply because she’s “a decade younger” than everybody else. Shade!

Justin is someone I instantly like, thanks to his immediate batting away of the real estate industry’s issue with sexism. “Am I above working with a team of women?” he asks. “Absolutely not. I will follow the money wherever it goes.” Sadly, he spoils it in Episode 2 with a “girls will be girls” remark. Eyeroll.

Justin and Eleonora have dated. “He took my virginity for a second time,” Eleonora quips. I don’t get it, but I’m here for it. It’s been a decade since they were bumping uglies, but have managed to maintain a great relationship. In fact, Eleonora seems to trust Justin implicitly, even asking him to help “nurture” her agents. Sadly, he betrays that trust…

Oh, and Bravo fans, get ready for a familiar face. Enter Steve Gold, via a montage that showcases his rippling muscles as he gets ready for the day. If editors wanted viewers to be putty in Steve’s hands, this is exactly the way to do it.

Netflix’s Selling the City showcases some stunning properties and events

One thing a real estate show needs to do is deliver some memorable moments through the buildings being showcased. Thankfully, Selling the City has that in bucketloads. While it doesn’t quite live up to some of the properties shown in Owning Manhattan, it gets close. There are hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, so the stakes are high.

What we’ve also grown to love as viewers, is all the fabulous events these agents get to host. The glamour is second to none. Except when it comes to Steve. That man favors a hooded sweatshirt and a semi-smart jacket above a suit, but who are we to question one of the biggest names on the scene?

Tensions rise among the Selling the City agents

What is a real estate show without a bit of tension? It begins early as Jade invites a handful of agents to lunch, where she’s “chumming it up” with Taylor, and trying to get closer to Steve. Eleonora isn’t happy, and neither are the agents left back at the office who didn’t even get the honor of an invite.

“If she acts like this towards me, I’m gonna f*cking throw this b*tch so far under, she has no idea what’s coming for her. Like, don’t come at me. I will f*cking have this b*tch’s head on a plate,” Jade rants after Eleonora leaves. Not in private, but alongside a bunch of her peers. It’s not a good look, but it certainly lays the foundations of what’s to come throughout the rest of the season.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Without giving away too much, viewers can look forward to seeing awkward situationships, threats to sue, and even a “F*ck you Netflix” as the season pans out.

Eleonora is born for reality TV as well as real estate; her raw, emotional honesty in Episode 4 in particular is a stunning moment. Meanwhile, Jade makes the perfect villain (a word I use with all love).

This is appointment television, and the perfect way to start the New Year. The only problem? We’ve got to wait for news on a second season.

Southern Hospitality Season 3, Episode 1 Recap: Welcome Back to Republic!

Welcome to Season 3 of Southern Hospitality! Last season, TJ and Joe Bradley had a huge falling out. Emmy got promoted to AGM, but that didn’t last very long. She also still didn’t get a ring from Will, who pursued his law school dreams. This year, TJ and Joe are still at each other’s throats. And there’s a lot of drama with Will and Emmy. Here’s everything that went down in Southern Hospitality Season 3, Episode 1: “Bottles, Balloons and Betrayal.”

What happened on Southern Hospitality Season 3, Episode 1?

We begin with a look back at Will and Emmy’s romance over the past two years. While Emmy claims to be super happy and in love, we cut to a big confrontation over Will’s allegedly cheating on her at law school. Joe says he’s “praying to God” it’s not true. New cast member Austin says it’s common knowledge, and new girl Lake also knows something. Maddi tells Joe that Bradley and TJ found out about a girl who Will wasn’t just sleeping with, but actually living with, and took to his law school prom. TJ warns Emmy that Will is bad news, yelling, “I bet you f*cked that b*tch.” Then, we cut to three months earlier.

There’s some changes at Republic. Will and Grace Lily left, while new cast members Austin, Lake, and Michols joined the team. Since last year, Maddi made peace with Brad. And she’s closer with Emmy, who blames Trevor for their falling out. Maddi is also dating Joe Bradley now. Yes, we’ll get to that later.

Meet Michols

The new AGM arrives – and no, it’s not Emmy. As we learned at the Season 2 reunion, that promotion didn’t last long. Leva calls it a “blessing in disguise,” and introduces us to new cast member Michols, who is a “gem.” Austin also joins as a bartender, but is less immediately successful as Michols. Molly even chides him for pronouncing espresso wrong (he says ex-presso).

The team loves Michols. Maddi jokes that she thought he was her dream man – until he revealed he’s gay. Still, they’ve become besties. TJ has feelings, gushing that he’s “nice to look at at work.” He doesn’t even mind when Michols reprimands him for not working – instead, he finds it hot.

Eventually, we learn that they shared a kiss in an Uber months earlier. But TJ pulls away because he wonders if Michols is too young for him. When he brings Michols a coffee, the AGM freaks out over what it means after their Uber kiss. He accuses TJ of sending mixed signals and playing with his emotions.

TJ and Joe still aren’t speaking

TJ is less fond of Joe, of course. At the beginning of the episode, he refuses to even serve him. The two haven’t spoken since the Season 2 reunion. At this point, at least, Joe admits that he “made out with Luann.” The girls call it “iconic,” but of course, Joe was still dating Danielle at the time.

Joe blames TJ bringing it up with destroying his and Danielle’s relationship. We once again see those nasty messages he sent TJ after filming. A producer asks why Joe was so angry at TJ when the story was already on Page Six. “Because Page Six wasn’t one of my best friends.”

Will wants them to squash the beef, but Joe doesn’t see that happening. He’s scared that TJ will try to sabotage him and Maddi.

Are Will and Emmy on the rocks?

Emmy still has her relationship goals in tact, joking with Will that he needs to “put a baby inside me” and propose. In a confessional, she says that one year of law school means one year closer to engagement.

While Will follows his dreams, Emmy’s also made life changes. She’s eight months sober, and is working out a lot. As in, it takes up most of her day. Will, who misses working at Republic, has his days taken up by school and internships. In a confessional, he says Emmy doesn’t get how hard it is.

TJ calls Mia, who is competing for Miss World. She’s going strong with boyfriend Troy, joking that absence (and naughty pictures) makes the heart grow fonder. Mia and TJ also talk about a relationship that maybe isn’t as strong – Will and Emmy’s. There’s lots of gossip over Will’s alleged comments about Emmy. According to Mia, When he was drunk at Republic, Will kept telling people that he hates Emmy and their relationship. TJ heard that Will doesn’t think Emmy is “his person,” and said she’s not fun anymore now that she’s sober.

Joe admits in a confessional that he heard those same rumors. But Joe claims he’s staying out of it this time, after what happened last year. Besides, it’s a little awkward, because he and Will made up. He even goes on a double date with Will and Emmy … and Maddi.

Maddi meets up with Grace Lilly, who left Republic after five years, and is focusing more on modeling. She tells Maddi that she did ayahuasca. Maybe she can bond with Shep Rose over this? In her case, Grace Lilly claims she saw Bob Marley and literally spoke to Jesus. Grace Lilly is also the one who breaks the news that Maddi and Joe are officially dating.

Joe is over the moon, claiming, “dreams come true,” and calling her his “future wife.” Maddi hopes this is the opposite of her former relationship with Trevor. Will puts his foot in his mouth by asking if there was any overlap between those two guys. But TJ and Brad aren’t convinced. “Once a cheater, always a cheater,” TJ says several times.

Michols’ birthday party brings drama galore

The episode ends at Michols’ 22nd birthday party. Despite Joe’s claims that he and Maddi are perfect, they hit a rough spot when he lets Michols’ balloons fly away. Maddi is a little dramatic about it, to be sure, seeing the balloons as their metaphorical “first child.” But Joe’s blasé attitude is the opposite of helpful.

Still, Maddi defends her man when TJ tries to warn her about him. Maddi knows all about Joe’s philandering past, of course. But she’s convinced things will be different. After all, they were best friends for so long.

Joe tries to get TJ to hash out their issues, but TJ claims he’s not ready. Judging by the preview, things will only get worse next week. Joe and Austin accuse TJ of telling people that Joe is gay. TJ also gets the cold shoulder from Michols. But despite all the drama and fallouts, we also learn that a potential romance could be brewing between Brad and Lake.

New hookups, rumors, and fights – looks like Southern Hospitality really is back!

Southern Hospitality airs Thursday nights at 9/8c on Bravo.

Shakira thanked fans for “an incredible 2024” in year-end recap photos. Her latest Instagram post looked back at some of her most cherished and memorable highlights from the year. Almost maxing out the thread, she dropped stills from across months to summarize the year.

The first slide documents the “Waka Waka” singer’s energetic performances while she delivered a fiery dance number. Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Welcomes Daughter Aurora Raina With Boyfriend Ken Urker

It’s a fantastic start to the year for Gypsy-Rose Blanchard and her boyfriend, Ken Urker, who finally welcomed their daughter, Aurora. After sharing multiple pregnancy updates over the last few months, Blanchard is officially set to embark on her motherhood journey with their first child. Urker broke the news on Wednesday via a heartwarming Instagram photo of their small family of three. As for the baby’s name, the couple had previously revealed it to PEOPLE during an exclusive interview in November.

Blanchard served nearly eight years for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder before her release from prison in December 2023. She originally received a 10-year sentence in July 2016 and is now on parole.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker received “the greatest gift of all” by bringing their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, into this world. Urker shared the delightful news on New Year’s Day via an adorable Instagram post. The hospital room photo captured the wholesome moment of the new mother cradling her baby girl. 

In the photo, Blanchard was lying on the bed, holding Aurora close to her chest. Meanwhile, Urker stood nearby and slightly leaned over as the new parents both affectionately looked down at their infant, who wore a pink cap. The caption read, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all.”

The star shared several milestones with her Instagram followers in since-removed posts. In one such instance in November, Blanchard spoke to PEOPLE about her pregnancy and expressed her excitement about bringing their daughter into this world. During the baby shower, she said her daughter “will be supported” and get “all the happiness a child should experience” while confirming her name.

In December, the former inmate credited Urker for their daughter’s name in another conversation with the outlet. “Ken came up with that,” she said before further delving into the backstory, which stemmed from the Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis.

Blanchard recalled when she and Urker first dated around 2018 while she was in prison. She said they wrote each other letters and in one such note, talked about “each other’s future kid’s name on pieces of paper.” She further recounted, “Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it.”
