Survivor’s merge brings new advantages, and a familiar pattern

Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X Episode 8 Recap: Let’s All Get Together
Tuesday was a lot to get through. I don’t care who you voted for (well, I do, but that’s for a different time), but I think everyone can at least agree that they’re glad this long, grueling, contentious, nightmarish election is finally over. Fitting then, that later on the very same day that the election ended, that the theme of the Survivor episode would be unity and trust: Yes, it was all about merging together…learning to live as one…assimilation. Everybody needs a reason and a chance to unify right now. Can’t we all just get along?
Well, mirroring real life, there is probably a pretty slim chance of that happening. Despite the image of just being one tribe, with 13 players left in the game, as Chris said at Tribal Council, there are 13 different strategies and agendas to get to the end. To win. But even still, until they reach the end, they have to figure out how to make their little community work, despite their beliefs, their gender, their religious background, their sexual orientation, or especially on Survivor, their differences stemming from the generational gap that divides them. There will be no more filibustering here, let’s get to the recap of this all-important #merge episode.
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE, AND THIS IS YOUR LAST *SPOILER* WARNING!
So dang! What a good episode! The merge episode is usually one of the better ones of each season, and this time around there were no disappointments.
Poor Michelle got caught in the cross-fire between two bigger guns, with Adam and Zeke on one side and Jay and Taylor on the other. Michelle seemed likable enough and seemed to be in a good position, and she was, but she just was aligned with the wrong people. It was supposed to be Will, who was seen as Jay’s right-hand man, even though the word “seen” and “Will” are not commonly used in the same sentence, being that we have hardly seen or heard from Will all season. We did learn a good deal about Will tonight, that he is uber-loyal to Jay (and probably impressionable, being a high schooler and the youngest Survivor player in history), and he will be a formidable combatant at challenges the rest of the way out, as he won and outlasted everyone else tonight during the first individual #ImmunityChallenge. As he said out loud, he needed it, and he was right. Michelle was the next person on the list of Jay’s loyal followers, and ironically and sadly for Michelle, she was shown as being the least on-board with turning on Adam. But all of this begs the question: If they are trying to get to Jay and hurt Jay’s game…why not just vote out Jay?
The answer to that question, of course, is that there are several Immunity Idols in play, and of those three, the opposition felt like it was most likely that Jay had an Idol (he does). So to weaken Jay without risking him playing an Idol, they took out someone that they perceived to be close to him. Michelle has become the first person on this year’s jury, and with 12 players left in the game now, the math points to a Final 3, with a 10 person jury. Doing math for a little longer, that means 9 more players will have to leave the game, and with a likely 5 episodes remaining this season, that would mean that we’ll enter Finale with eight players still in the game…that’s a lot, but not uncommon. It could also mean that we’re in for a double-elimination ep (more rare) or a medical evac somewhere along the line. And one last number for those keeping score at home: With Michelle gone we now have six Millennials and six Gen-Xers left in the game.
Oh yes, and I’m contractually obligated to at least mention the new Tribe name once, and the merged tribe is called “Vinaka.” There, it has been recorded.
But the episode spent little time pre-merge, other than showing us that Hannah is also now seeking long-term revenge after her closest ally, Michaela, was voted out last week. Taylor already is seeking revenge, and tried to get it tonight by not only targeting Adam, but leaking a bunch of secret information that Adam had asked Taylor to keep secret. There was a lot going on in that scene.
First, from Taylor‘s perspective, it’s pretty clear that he’s not the most strategically savvy player, but he does have a reason not to trust Adam, as Adam was the main reason Figgy was sent home. Adam on the other hand, said it himself tonight: He is beginning to play the game too hard. By divulging information to Taylor – including Adam’s newfound power to be able steal someone’s Reward after they’ve won it, a #SurvivorFirst – he was hoping to build trust with Taylor.
But this thought pattern had a major flaw, and that was that Adam should know that Taylor is going to still be mad at him. Adding to the bone-headedness of this, is that if Adam’s target is Jay, and he knows Taylor is close with Jay, why would he ever risk telling Taylor anything of importance? Adam already has a bunch of other allies, so trying to reel in Taylor was just selfish and not well thought-out. Luckily for Adam, it all worked out in the end, and he was ultimately able to pump the brakes a bit. And at least he held on to his hidden Idol and didn’t let the paranoia get the best of him.
We witnessed tonight that the Gen-Xers are definitely more tightly bonded than the Millennials, but there is still a lot of game to play. But it seems like Zeke is now firmly aligned with his new Gen-X friends. You have Zeke, David, Chris, Brett, Sunday, Jessica and Ken (you still gotta love Ken, although I don’t feel like he’s getting a winning edit). Seven is now the majority, leaving five others on the outside: Taylor, Jay, Will, Hannah and Adam. I put Adam on the outside because even Zeke and his closest allies saw his true colors this week and now have eyes on Adam.
Hannah also had an interesting episode for her, but being a Millennial, even though she voted along with Zeke and the others I feel like she and Adam are most likely on the bottom of that alliance. However, Zeke did refer to himself, Adam, and Hannah as the “nerd voting bloc” so maybe there is something more there. Zeke remember, is also tight with David and Chris…if he can orchestrate all of this without people noticing, he has a good chance to go to the end, despite his Millennial roots. The fun news for viewers, is that two hidden Idols exist within these minority alliance members. So there is a lot of Survivor still to be played.
It should also be mentioned that this week showed Taylor stealing and hoarding community food. Ugh. I hate crap like that, and even after owning up to it, Taylor still was not voted out. If this would have happened in the old days of Survivor, this would have been an automatic vote-out. Yes, the game has changed, and even when you steal from the tribe, there are often bigger fish to fry.
Episode Take-Away: Zeke really emerged as a power-player tonight..I knew he was likable but he really was the catalyst for a lot that went on. The Gen-Xers are in a better position, but Jay, Will and Taylor are perhaps the game’s biggest remaining physical threats (and you too, Chris), so it won’t be as easy as the Gen-Xers want to get rid of them that easy. And it occurred to me tonight also that Hannah may have a really good shot at going far…she finally showed some strategic fortitude, and who in the heck is worried about Hannah at this point? There’s a lot of battles to be fought and bombs that will drop, and when the smoke clears, we just might see a bunch of nerds standing tall. It would be good medicine after watching a bully win on Tuesday night.
Strategic Move of the Week: The opposite of everything Adam did this week.
Voted out this week: Michelle
Vote: 9 – Michelle (Adam, Zeke, Hannah, Chris, Brett, Sunday, Jessica, Ken, David), 4 – Adam (Jay, Michelle, Taylor, Will)
Next Week’s Episode: Probst teases that battle lines have been drawn, and we see that Taylor is still quite awful at keeping a secret, and this game in general. Join us back here next week, won’t you?
TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY WITH TONIGHT’S RESULT? WHO IS IN THE BEST POSITION TO GO FAR? DO YOU THINK ADAM IS PLAYING TOO HARD OR PLAYING THINGS JUST RIGHT? AND WHO IS IN TROUBLE NEXT WEEK?

Big Brother Over the Top Spoilers Double Eviction Results!!
We started tonight’s Big Brother Over the Top double eviction with Alex Willett leaving the house. It was up to Morgan Willett to try to win the Big Brother Over the Top head of household competition. Morgan tried her hardest, but ultimately couldn’t do the math to save Shelby Stockton and her tonight, but America gave a helping hand.
This week’s Head of Household competition involved players watching a series of videos about the Big Brother home shopping network. They had to try to memorize as much details as possible.
Kryssie Ridolfi, Whitney Hogg, Danielle Lickey, and Morgan managed to answer all seven questions correctly. It came down to the tiebreaker question.
The head of household competition resulted in Danielle becoming the head of household .
About an hour and a half after Danielle won her head of household competition, America’s care package dropped into the backyard…the care package was for….Morgan!
The care package meant the Morgan was immediately safe from eviction. It also allowed her to save one other person from the Big Brother Over the Top block. This guaranteed that Shelby and Morgan would be safe at least until next Wednesday.
Danielle was forced to pick between allies. After talking to houseguests, and shedding some tears, Danielle decided to nominate Whitney and Justin Duncan.
The Ball Smashers were pushing hard for Justin to go over Whitney. However, Jason Roy and Kryssie figured out that Whitney might flip sides and go back to the Ball Smashers.
It came down to a tie vote. Danielle broke the tie and sent Whitney home over Justin.
A new head of household will be crowned later tonight. Check back here tomorrow morning for the official Big Brother Over the Top results.

Who Was Evicted on Big Brother Over the Top Last Night 11/09/2016?
America gave Jason Roy this week’s Big Brother Over the Top care package. It basically caused the complete destruction of the BBOTT Ball Smashers. Shelby Stockton put up Whitney Hogg to try to save her from being on the block. Jason put up Danielle Lickey. He created fake tension with her to throw the Ball Smashers off. This would be a theme that persisted all Big Brother Over the Top week.
Jason soon won the power of veto. The Ball Smashers knew that he would use it to save Danielle. They also knew he had been toying with him. Yet they still believed Jason when he came with them with a fake five person alliance.
He told them that he would get out Justin Duncan. The Ball Smashers all got a rude awakening when Jason put up Morgan Willett in Danielle’s place. They then confronted him, which made him just try to make them look even more like fools.
He flat out told them that he would evict Alex Willett this week. He and the Late Night Jamboree (with new member Whitney) kept their promise. Alex was evicted from the Big Brother Over the Top house.
Another player will join her later tonight with a double eviction looming.

Little Women LA: Plastic Martyr Confirms Reunion Appearance & Slams Briana
Tonight is the Little Women: LA reunion episode and oh what a trainwreck it is shaping up to be! Much to Matt and Briana Manson’s dismay, Plastic Martyr is making an appearance tonight and, needless to say, the couple is hostile over her presence.
She took to Instagram this week to confirm that she filmed with the cast. She also had some choice words for Briana Renee. “So the cat is out of the bag. I will be on the reunion show for Little Women LA. I guess there is already a commercial with me in it out now, where Briana cowardly scampers off the set. This is true and was highly amusing.”
Plastic continued, “She can run her mouth behind blocked accounts but when given the opportunity to speak to me face to face she flees the scene. Typical. I have absolutely no respect for her, she is one of the dirtiest people I know.”
She still can’t wrap her head around Briana’s reaction to her while forgiving Matt (over and over again!). “What’s astounding to me is that HER husband was trying to hook up with ME. Not the other way around. I shut that shit down immediately and would have never betrayed someone who I considered a friend at that time. Yet she tries to portray me as “the enemy of season 5″.”
She maintains that the producers sought her out, not the other way around. “It got out in the press 8 months later and the story was twisted and inaccurate. The producers of the show called me and asked me if I wanted to come on and clear my name and give the truth and an accurate representation of what happened. I said yes as anyone would have done. I did not want the lies and gossip stories out there with misinformation regarding me. I work very hard and have since I was 14 to be an honest, and self made person. I’m not the type to sell someone out, and clearly not…. because If that was my motive I’d have screen shot the conversations between Matt and I and sold them out long ago. But I didn’t. And I still wouldn’t to this day even after seeing what a pathetic, pathological waste of space Briana is.”
Plastic Martyr ends with, “She can run her mouth all she wants bottom line is I know who I am and I know what I did was not done with malicious intent or for self gratifying reasons. With that said I will be doing a YouTube video soon talking more about this “high school” drama. To the ones who are standing by me and being supportive I thank you. To the rest who seek me out just to hate on me…..good luck, you’ll need it.”
The reunion special kicks off tonight at 9/8CST on Lifetime! We have our popcorn and pinot ready!!

Albie Manzo Makes The Best Out Of Turning 30
A lot of people find it difficult hitting a milestone birthday, but Manzo’d With Children star Albie Manzo actually seems very content about turning 30 and he has made the best out of what many other people turn into a frightening situation. Caroline Manzo‘s oldest son has made a lot of changes and set some goals to make this new decade of his life a happy and successful one.
I’m not really surprised that Albie has this attitude since it seems like he’s been on this self-improvement path for a while now. Nevertheless, props to Albie for striving to better himself.
CLICK “CONTINUE READING” FOR MORE!
In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Albie talked about turning the big 3-0. Albie explained, “When I was turning 30, I had just moved back to Hoboken and I had got out of a relationship and was doing my work. I made a couple of really, really big decisions that set me up on my own, having no idea what I wanted to do.” Which we all saw play out on his reality TV show.
Even though Albie is all about setting goals and improving, he did have a little bit of that standard freak out that most people have when they reach this age. Albie admitted, “One day, you just wake up and you’re like, ‘Wow, the first number of my age is going to change.’ As I look back on the decade of my 20s, at first, I was like, what do I have to show for it, No.1, and where do I want to go, No.2. I look at it and say to myself, ‘Am I really proud of where I’m at?'”
RELATED: What’s Next For “Empty Nester” Caroline Manzo?
As all of Albie’s Instagram followers know, the man has really been working on his fitness and looking super hot. Six months before the big birthday, Albie decided to make some steps for self improvement. Albie said, “I called [trainer] Rodrick [Covington] and said, ‘Let’s get to work.’ I wrote out some things that I wanted to accomplish in my career life.”
Albie also explained how health and fitness taught him things that he can apply to other aspects of his life. He explained how eating healthily translated into so much more for him: “When you’re cutting certain foods out or certain habits out of your life that are counterproductive for what you’re trying to achieve, it’s the same way in your relationships with people. There are certain people, for whatever reason, are just not good in your environment, and they kind of set you back. You start to really learn how to pick up on those things and apply it.”
That definitely makes sense to me. It really seems like Albie is on a good path to make this thirtieth year a good one.
TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT ALBIE HAS MADE? DO YOU THINK TURNING 30 IS A BIG DEAL?

Stassi Schroeder Opens Up About Finally Being Single
I’m not gonna lie, I was upset and disappointed when Stassi Schroeder quit SUR and left Vanderpump Rules to be in New York with her ex Patrick. Why would she leave the show that made her famous? I was super annoyed by it, but as we all know, she came back with her tail between her legs and has managed to get back in the good graces of her former-turned-current co-stars and she is back on the show. Stassi also admits that being single is actually a good thing and has done a lot for her.
I feel like we have all been there, or at the very least know someone who has been caught up in a relationship like that. I’m just happy that we got Stassi back throwing shade on Vanderpump Rules. All is right in the world again and this is definitely a silver lining of the breakup. Plus, I am curious to see how the chronically coupled Stassi acts as a single lady.
CLICK “CONTINUE READING” FOR MORE!
It seems like Stassi’s on-again-off-again relationship is finally done and she’s actually okay with being single. In an interview with People, Stassi admitted that she is trying to reform from her old habits. She said, “I’m like, actively trying not to do what I normally do, which is just jump right into a relationship.”
Thank God. She’s finally seeing the light. Good for her.
Stassi also revealed, “I actually didn’t know how independent I was, and that’s been really cool [to discover]. When you’re just alone all the time, you really do learn that you can handle s—.”
RELATED: Mike Shay Breaks His Silence Amid “Missing” Rumors
That’s good and all, but you should be able to handle your shit whether you are in a relationship or not, hopefully she brings independence into her next relationship and does not let that just be something she has when she’s single.
Stassi tweeted (and later deleted) that she was finally single in July 2016. She also explained why she felt the need to post that in the first place. Stassi reasoned, “Because we’ve broken up and gotten back together so many times, it was like: ‘We can’t do this pattern anymore, this routine of breaking up and getting back together every month.’ I cannot do it. Like, I can’t. And so I have to do something to make this official.”
Fair enough. But it is hard for people to take anything at face value with the constant breaking up and making up. Still, it really does seem like Stassi‘s actually single these days. I’m curious to see how she fares as pretty much the only single cast member on Vanderpump Rules. It’s a role reversal for sure.
