Tamra Judge Thinks Shannon Beador’s Mother In Law Was Out Of Line; Calls Her Behavior “Next Level Horrible”

Tamra Judge

tamra-judge

Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador did not start out too buddy-buddy when they first shared screen time on The Real Housewives of Orange County, but they’ve come a long way since then. Tamra, in fact, seems to be one of Shannon‘s staunchest allies this season, in particular. Maybe Jesus fixed it? Hallelujah!

In her blog this week, Tamra shares her shock at learning Shannon’s mother in law was basically in on the affair that David Beador had last year. She also majorly side-eyes Vicki Gunvalson’s newest shady ploy for retribution insurance/charity cancer scheme, which kind of makes me love Tamra’s little black heart just a little bit more this week!

After Tamra’s watched her “tispy date” with hubby Eddie Judge at the sushi restaurant, she wants to clear something up. “Eddie usually stays pretty neutral about stuff. He is a no drama kind of guy. But with the sake flowing he made a comment about Shannon that I think was totally misunderstood. Eddie is the nicest guy and he absolutely LOVES Shannon. He would never want to say anything to hurt her feelings. He just knows how stressed out she has been ever since the ‘70s party, the move, her mother-in-law. Eddie never raises his voice and is pretty even tempered (unless he’s hungry). He’s just a zen kind of guy. I know he wasn’t trying to single Shannon out or say anything hurtful, he just thought it would have been nice for her to go and relax.”

Before getting deeper into the Shannon situation, Tamra takes a moment to sympathize with Kelly Dodd about her marital issues. Noting the “lack of respect and love between Kelly and her husband,” Tamra admits, “Hearing the conversation Kelly is having with her mom reminds me of a conversation I had with my mom shortly before I left my ex-husband. My mom told me that I needed to prepare myself because some parents use the children to hurt the other parent. My mom told me to prepare myself for the future; she was worried that Spencer would end up living with his dad since they were so close. Not uncommon in divorces, kids picking sides. We never thought it would be Sidney and to the degree it is. My dear sweet beautiful daughter that was so close to me.”

When Tamra heard “the truth” about Shannon’s mother in law from Vicki at their spa day, Tamra admits she was totally blown away. “I was absolutely SHOCKED when Vicki told me about Shannon’s mother-in-law, Donna having family dinners with David’s mistress. To me that is just absolutely disgusting. Not only does Shannon have to deal with the affair, she has to deal with the fact that his family was also cheating on her. Who does that?!? To know that David’s mother condoned cheating? That is just next level horrible. To me that says something serious about Donna’s character.”

“NOW I understand why Shannon reacted the way she did at the party last week. I would have freaked out too!!” confesses Tamra, who claims she had no idea about the issues between Shannon and David’s mother. She did know about drama Shannon and her sister in law had brewing, but when David’s mother approached Tamra at the Beador children’s concert to say Shannon “pushed” David to have an affair, Tamra maintains she was blindsided.

Tamra defends telling Shannon about her mother in law’s comments at the concert: “Shannon is my good friend and I didn’t want it to come out later without her knowing about it. So I told Shannon and it upset her, which I totally understand now that I know Donna was inviting David’s mistress over for tea and cookies!! I just can’t even wrap my head around that. It’s heartbreaking to see a family torn apart like that, especially right after David and Shannon’s vow renewal. The whole situation is just messed up.”

As for Kellyobviously doomed marriage to Michael Dodd, Tamra asserts that she doesn’t want to get too involved. But she can relate. “I felt bad for Kelly, I wanted to help her. I’ve been there myself. I know what it is like to be in a bad marriage. My words to her were just advice. I know from experience that the aftermath of divorce can be devastating. I don’t want anyone to go through what I have had to deal with.”

Finally turning her attention to Vicki‘s jacked up scheme to revive her credibility (ha!), Tamra ends her blog by asking, “Am I the only one who doesn’t know what to think about Vicki starting an insurance program for cancer patients? The way it was explained was more about making money and convincing people she had nothing to do with Brooks [Ayers] cancer scam. Michael sure called her out on some of her lies. Yikes.”

Yikes is right.

Little Women: Atlanta Recap: Bridal Showdown

Little Women: Atlanta recap

Little Women: Atlanta recap

On Little Women: Atlanta, we are slowly but surely switching from baby fever to bridal fever. With Monie Cashette’s wedding planning in full swing, the girls have no choice but to come along for the ride and see how the friendships play out with the Bridezilla that can’t budget.

Monie has been keeping herself busy with anger management classes and delusions of wedding grandeur. Poor Morlin is stuck not only trying to keep Monie’s temper in check, but her spending too. Good luck with that, buddy. One way he has suggested they cut costs is by supplying their own alcohol at the reception and Monie tentatively agrees, provided she can still get “the fancy stuff.” I was busy wondering when Monie got so high maintenance until she makes a bee line for the Moscato, stating that she only deserves the best. The best being a $16 bottle of wine.

Little Women: Atlanta recap

Andrea Salinas is settling back into life with baby Aubrey and deadbeat dad, Chris, who decided to reappear after leaving her stranded for weeks after she gave birth. In his absence, Andrea asked Minnie Ross to move in and help out with the baby, which Minnie happily accepted against her mom’s wishes.

Now Minnie is now feeling all kinds of awkward with Chris back in the picture. Although Chris has no room to make demands about the living situation since he will likely take off again in a few weeks, he pushes Andrea to tell Minnie to go home. Andrea had previously told Minnie she wouldn’t kick her out now that Chris is home but she is quickly caving on this one. Raise your hand if you saw this coming! Minnie needs some backup and meets up with Amanda Salinas, who hates Chris as much of the rest of us but does not really have any advice for Minnie on what to do.

Little Women: Atlanta recap

Bri Barlup arrives in Dallas to visit with Emily Fernandez, who admits that there has been no progress with baby JJ. While the doctors in Dallas don’t have a good prognosis, she is waiting on word from the specialist to see if there is any hope. Understandably, Emily doesn’t want to give up on her son and is desperately trying to manage all the emotions that come with the pain she is feeling for her child. When she does hear back from the specialist, he says nothing can be done but that baby JJ is in good hands, so Emily just has to wait and see how JJ responds to his care. What a heartbreaking situation.

Back in Atlanta, Ms. Juicy realizes she has probably been too hard on Minnie and has invited her to sit down with her pastor to try and repair their friendship. Pastor Nate jumps right into mediating and asks Minnie to tell her side of the story. She quickly starts dabbing tears and Juicy acknowledges that she purposely pushed Minnie’s buttons in the past. Minnie agrees to move forward and suggests they do something fun together to move forward. Juicy decides speed dating is the perfect opportunity.

Little Women: Atlanta recap

When the night comes, Minnie is full of nerves but Juicy is full of questions. She’s like a reporter with these poor guys! Minnie and Juicy both pick the same guys but luckily, each guy was matched with the other one, so no drinks had to be thrown. But one successful night out does not a friendship make and I’m waiting for these two to have another falling out.

Chris is back to pushing Andrea into telling Minnie to leave to give them their time as a family. Andrea caves and knows she is going to have to screw over her friend. She sits down with Minnie and doesn’t even beat around the bush – she tells Minnie now that Chris is back, they need privacy and Minnie needs to move out. Understandably, Minnie feels like she was taken advantage of and claims she can’t go back home. She can, but she doesn’t want to face her mom saying, “I told you so” and decides to start packing ASAP. Andrea barely apologizes and lets her go on her way, relieved she does not have to fight with Chris about it anymore.

Little Women: Atlanta recap

Monie has invited the girls to a bridal show with Morlin but only Ms. Juicy and Minnie show up. As they make the rounds, Minnie quickly gets upset with Juicy constantly bringing up that she’s the Maid of Honor. She pulls Monie aside to tell her and express that she thinks she should have been Maid of Honor instead. Monie has zero sympathy and cites Ms. Juicy’s “realness” as proof enough that she should be her Maid of Honor. She tells Minnie that she doesn’t need to be a part of the wedding at all and Minnie stomps off, saying she doesn’t want to partake in a “ghetto wedding” anyway.

Monie quickly recovers and heads to the stage to play the newlywed game in front of the crowd. The winning question for her and Morlin to take home the prize? Whose wedding invitation would you like to see get lost in the mail? Both Monie and Morlin respond with Minnie and Monie says that is why they are meant to be. Tell that to the alcohol budget, honey.

Don’t Be Tardy Recap: Animal House

dont-be-trady-kim-shock

Don't Be Tardy recap

With six kids, a chef, and more dogs than I can keep track of, it’s safe to say that Kim Zolciak Biermann and Kroy Biermann like to live in excess. Last night’s episode of Don’t Be Tardy highlights, underlines, and throws a bunch of exclamation points on that excess as we watch Kim continue to push for one more kid, but maybe settle for a puppy instead.

The idea originally pops up thanks to resident daughter/assistant/unofficial Fit Tea sales rep, Brielle. While Kash and KJ adorably wreck the kitchen in an attempt to cook something, Brielle, who previously stated that their house was like a daycare, mentions that it’s time for another dog. Brielle’s highly interested in cross-breeding two dogs until Tracey points out how many dogs are stuck in shelters and need good homes. Brielle doesn’t seem thrilled but will take what she can get and production Tracey pulls a few strings to arrange for the family to volunteer over the weekend.

CLICK CONTINUE READING FOR MORE!

Don't Be Tardy recap

Brielle might be pushing for another dog, but she also has a secret and that secret happens to have a snout and makes oinking noises. No, she hasn’t nabbed a new man on Bumble, she actually has a pig that she received from her friends as a recent birthday gift (kids these days). Brielle has been hiding her pig, aptly named Chester Jorge, at her friend’s house because she hasn’t told Kim and Kroy yet. She’s waiting for the right moment to bring Chester Jorge out of the shadows and into the chaos that is the Biermann home and I guess that day is coming.

Don't Be Tardy recap

But first, let’s see what’s going on with Kim’s unofficial seventh baby, her skin care line, Kashmere. Unbeknownst to anyone else, this is a line she has been working on for “years” and was conceived when she was pregnant and didn’t want stretch marks. Instead of just buying some lotion and calling it a day like most women, Kim and Kroy played mad scientists and cooked it up in their kitchen because they need some kind of backstory to sell this crap.

Even though Kim can’t decide on how stripper-y it should smell, she is pleased with how the bottles turned out and can’t wait to share Kashmere with the world. I’m sure the world can’t wait either.

Finally, the Biermanns head off to the shelter with Kim protesting that there is no way they are getting a dog (which means they are totally getting a dog).

Don't Be Tardy recap

Turns out, they came under the premise of “volunteering” and while Kroy keeps using terms like “give back”, their charity is restricted to simply petting the puppies. Kroy, I don’t think “giving back” is what you think it means. Either way, Kim falls in love with a little black lab but Kroy puts his foot down (hey, charity only goes so far) and Kim is forced to actually give back… the puppy, that is. They leave empty handed. Or so they think. The next day, Brielle shows up with the puppy, now named Norma Jean. Kroy insists she take care of it and Brielle barely pretends to listen, already distracted on Snapchat.

Kroy and Kim head to the reproductive specialist, who has an office equipped with jelly beans and coloring books to keep them busy while they wait. The doctor starts to explain his thoughts for treatment and says he wouldn’t bother freezing Kim’s eggs but rather freezing the whole embryo right off the bat. Kim announces that for once, she hasn’t turned to google to get any info and relies on the doctor to explain it, but both she and Kroy quickly glaze over while the doctor explains some pretty important details. Ahh, to already have six healthy kids and any fertility treatment at your disposal and not even have to bother with listening to the details… that is the life Kim is leading, folks. Don’t sweat the small stuff after a stroke, right?

As they drive home, Kim decides she is going to start with testing how many eggs she has but freaks out at the idea of donating any eggs or embryos she doesn’t use to someone in need. Naturally.

Don't Be Tardy recap

It’s time for Chester Jorge to come home. Brielle shows up with him and Kim immediately notices two things: his butt is very red and it looks like he has high heels on. But that’s not enough to get Kim on board this time and she tells Brielle the pig can’t stay. Brielle doesn’t seem to care at all and instead, says she will just take the pig back to her friend’s house. Guess you can’t put lipstick, or in this case, high heels on a pig, and Chester Jorge has to go live with some other rich family.

Real Housewives Of Atlanta Season 9 & Married To Medicine Season 4 Premiere November 6!

Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 9 cast RHOA

Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 9 cast RHOA

The leaves may be falling, but Shady Sunday is coming back again this Fall, with new seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Married To Medicine debuting Sunday, November 6! Bravo announced the premiere date this week, along with confirmation on who’s coming back – and what they will be sharing with us in the months to come.

Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9 will see a return of the same cast we know and love, with one notable upgrade: Sheree Whitfield is back as a full time housewife, ya’ll! Who gon’ check her BOO? Two snaps in a circle for that. Snap, and a snap. It’s Sheree’s first time holding a peach since season 4. Though hinted at heavily during the off season, NeNe Leakes is not currently on the Housewife roster (nor is Kim Zolciak) but we all know she will likely poke her head in front of the camera for a scene or two.

A quick highlights reel of what the ladies will be dealing with this season: A newly single Cynthia Bailey moving into a new house that doesn’t smell like Peter Thomas and broken dreams. Kandi Burruss and Todd juggling their careers, life with a new baby – and Mama Joyce. Phaedra Parks focusing more on social justice work and waiting on that divorce from Apollo Nida. <whistling> Meanwhile, Porsha Williams explores some much needed anger management counseling, and rekindles romance with an old new flame. Ooh!

With her latest made for TV relationship behind her, Kenya Moore turns her attention to Moore Manor, which is of course, still under construction. Speaking of eternal house construction! Just up the street at Chateau Sheree, Sheree is embarking on her next role as manager to her son’s burgeoning modeling career. The Bailey Agency to the rescue! (Or to the ruin, as the case may be.)

Bravo hints that RHOA promises lots of drama, as always, with “major twists in relationships among the group from unexpected alliances that form as well as shocking accusations that could end an old friendship beyond repair.”

Check out a sneak peek of RHOA season 9 here!

Married to Medicine Season 3

The Married To Medicine season 4 premiere is slated to follow RHOA on its Nov 6th date, welcoming back its entire cast as well – with the exception of producer/pariah Mariah Huq. Though Mariah wasn’t a full time cast member last year, she did spend most of the season trying to look like one on camera.

Quad Lunceford-Webb becomes a new aunt, which might kick start her own baby making clock…but that remains to be seen! Lisa Nicole Cloud’s baby fever is already sky high, though, as she attempts to get pregnant with super shady husband Darren. A Hail Mary to save their marriage, perhaps?

Dr. Jackie Walters will still be focused on her work, health, and philanthropic goals, while bestie Dr. Simone Whitmore navigates heavier matters: She’s ready to face her estranged father. Toya Bush-Harris appears to be just as thirsty as ever this season as she turns 40 and opens a new “vitamin infusion spa.” Mmmkay.

Meanwhile, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, relationship expert to no one, doesn’t have much in the way of a story line going on these days. Bravo just says she’s “on a mission to revamp her attitude and change the ladies’ perception of her.” Which might be enough work for her to handle in one season!

Little Women: LA Recap: Belly Dance Battle

Little Women: LA recap

Little Women: LA recap

Since the season began, Christy McGinity has spiraled down into a pit largely of her own making. Now that she has no farther to fall, it’s time for the rest of these Little Women: LA ladies to start turning on each other! Which is just what happens this week when Jasmine Sorge decides she needs to confront Terra Jole about whether she’s a true friend or not. Because she’s not a pet owner. If you’re still scratching your head over that one, well, so am I.

Before we descend into total madness, we travel to the plastic surgeon’s with Elena Gant, who’s brought Terra along for support. Elena wants to get her a$$ stretch marks lasered off, which is rich considering she inserted implants into her butt before getting pregnant. I guess it’s reality check time. Elena tells Terra that she was unhappy with Preston’s surprise party, especially because she didn’t want to be around that level of drama on her birthday.

CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!

Terra thinks Christy dredging up Plastic Martyr has nailed the final coffin in her status as Enemy #1. Elena still wants to give Christy a chance though. Terra’s like, whatever! I’m throwing a belly dancing party and Christy is not invited!

Since Christy only has her mom left to hang out with, she drags her along to a soap making class. In case you were unable to see this riveting scene, here’s the nutshell recap: They. Made. Soap. Oh – and Christy fills her mom in on what went down at Elena’s party. Christy does admit she was out of line in a few of her grossest remarks, such as calling Tonya Banks “an angry black dwarf” and calling Briana “autistic.” So, she at least understands she was wrong. But she’s not willing to make amends for it yet.

It’s all about totally fake blended families at Briana and Matt Ericson [Grunhoffer]’s house. Matt’s son, Eric, has come down for a visit (where’s his other son?) and Briana “couldn’t be happier!” Because, you know, she’s all about family! Even though she hasn’t spoken to her parents in over a year and refuses to let them meet their newest grandchild. So, yeah. #FamilyFirst

After the kids clear out, Matt and Briana discuss “Crazy Crusty” – Matt’s newest name for her. Briana thinks Christy is pissed that she and Matt stayed together. Matt thinks Christy is a crazy b*tch, period. He’s a changed man, yo! It’s been SIX WHOLE MONTHS since he sexted his wiener worldwide. “She’s a disgusting human being” with no soul, and no respect, says Briana. Interesting, the rage that Briana can muster for Christy, summarily cutting her out of her life with one swift blow. Where was this anger and decisiveness six months ago when she really needed it?

At Tonya’s, she and Kerwin are hosting a little mommy-daughter spa time with Angelique. Tonya wants her to know that nothing will break their bond, even if the whole Kerwin-moving-back-in-thing came out of the blue. They get chatting about Angelique’s life, which has been kept a secret from Tonya for a while now. Angelique is back with her ex-boyfriend, but doesn’t want to fully commit – or tell her mom much about it – until she’s sure about the relationship. Thus, the brass knuckles don’t fall far from the Lil’ Boss Tree.

In another equally lame mother-daughter moment across town, Christy is teaching her daughter, Autumn, to drive. Except not in a car. Instead, it’s paper plate steering wheels and mime stunts on bar stools for her! “Why are we doing this?” sighs Autumn, who’s exhausted. She’s worried she has thyroid issues, which Christy thinks may be plausible. They plan to make a doctor appointment soon to check things out.

Jasmine is washing Tonya’s hair at her hair salon. Tonya’s thinning hair has been a progressive issue, but she feels comfortable opening up to Jasmine since she’s also experienced hair loss throughout her life (she wears wigs as a result).

Chatter turns to Terra, who apparently “judged” Jasmine over – wait for it – not owning a pet. Yes, you read that correctly. Terra quipped that “I don’t usually like people who don’t have pets,” so now Jasmine is questioning Terra’s friendship with her. Okay, put a fork in this sh*t. I’m done! Lifetime has officially scraped the bottom of the barrel for storylines if we are now supposed to be intrigued by this ridiculous castmate beef. #PoodleGateSucks #ProducersForHire

Jasmine plans to confront Terra over this very, very serious issue. <eye roll>

Tonya has no time for this, as she needs to get her a$$ to flight simulation school! She drags Kerwin along for some fun times fake-bombing targets and, despite the corny outing, they do seem to be getting along better these days. Afterward, they talk about Angelique’s love life, which Tonya thinks Kerwin needs to keep his nose out of. He can’t just pop back in the picture and take over says the woman who was mercilessly berated for not collecting garage boxes from Jaa.

Terra and Joe Gnoffo’s house debacle is ongoing. Is the previous owner still living there? Nope! Tonya is along for the ride. (Was this a foreclosure, by the way? What was the deal with this owner occupancy situation?) They’ve been told by the old owner’s brother in law that there was also powder all over the floor, as the woman was suspicious people were breaking in. Tonya’s all, Why did you buy this house from a crazy heifer!?

But when Terra and Joe enter their new home, they are thrilled to see it’s clean(ish) and powder free. Tonya is a total hater about everything from the house’s outdated design to its room sizes, which Terra deserves after going so hard on Tonya’s fitness line. But ultimately, Tonya stands down and congratulates the couple on their first home together.

At the splash pad, Jasmine and Briana let Mason and Leiana run around in the summer sun. A pregnant Jasmine confesses she knows what she’s having (gender-wise), but she’s keeping it a secret for now. Briana says Matt is thrilled with baby Maverick, but she’s still upset about Tonya saying she couldn’t handle an average-sized child. Oy Vey! We’re going back THERE?

Jasmine still doesn’t get Tonya’s point whatsoever. And Briana, who possibly understood Tonya’s comments a bit better when Terra explained that it was all about Matt “taking over” if there was another average sized boy in the house, even gets it all twisted again. Add to that Briana’s claim that she already is a mom (well, a step mom) to an average-sized boy, Matt’s son. (I swear he had TWO SONS? Where the F–k is the other son!? Am I insane from recapping this show for too damn long!? Help!).

Because the thirst is very real, Jasmine brings up #PoodleGate to Briana, who nods sympathetically over the cruel injustice of it all, but does admit that Jasmine’s hormones may have something to do with her getting this upset over something so trivial. Jasmine still plans to confront Terra anyway. Oh the humanity!

Friends, can you tell I am getting flat out exhausted with these ladies? I just CANNOT with this trifling pet argument! Does Lifetime misguidedly think LWLA needs to have a fracking fight at the end of every single episode? This season, in particular, has become monotonous in its formulaic structure. It’s like the carnival ride was fun at first, then kinda scary, and now it’s making me just a little bit sick. Blech. But looks like that’s what’s on the roster for this season, so we’ll just have to #RideOrDie.

So, with that, I give you Terra’s Belly Dancing Party Of Doom!

Brian-Renee-Tonya-Banks-Terra-Jole-Jasmine-Sorge-Belly-Dance-Class-Little-Women-LA

As the ladies assemble for belly dancing, their instructor Jillina welcomes them into the studio. Terra plans to use this session as motivation for her upcoming gig on Dancing With The Stars, but Elena isn’t into this at all. She has never, nor will never, want to shake her thang. She just wants her thang to be stretch mark free.

After the ladies halfheartedly shimmy and shake all over the dance floor, Terra expresses her gratitude to the group for being her loyal friends. Jasmine takes this opportunity to open her janky can of pathetic whoopa$$ all over Terra about the “pet comment.” Terra can’t believe Jasmine is so turned up over a lousy remark about animals. An increasingly flustered Jasmine whines that she doesn’t want to keep having to prove herself in this friendship circle! She is standing up for pet-less little people everywhere!

Jasmine-Sorge-Black-Lace-Tank-Top-Little-Women-LA

The group just stares all Jasmine like, WTF? Girlfriend needs some herbal tea and a foot massage. But if an apology from Terra will do the trick instead, then Terra’s willing to give her one.

Tonya turns the tables on both Terra and Jasmine, though, when she brings up what Terra told Briana about her little-versus-average sized baby comments. Now it’s on! Tonya stands by her feelings that an average sized son might try to take advantage of Briana, given the role model he’s growing up with. To Briana, this is an affront to the Fierce Mama Facade that she’s desperately trying to cultivate. Tonya reminds Briana that she’s isolated herself from her own family, so she’s more vulnerable than ever now. “I’m good,” says Briana haughtily. She doesn’t need anybody but Stage 5 Clinger Matt in this life she’s built for herself. Well, we’ll see about that.

Tonya is incredulous that Briana can allow Leiana to have a close relationship with her grandparents, but baby Maverick isn’t even allowed to meet them! Briana claims that “he’ll have Matt’s family.” Which is, um, WHO, exactly? Were they among the 10 people in attendance at that depressing excuse for a wedding last season? Terra can’t believe Tonya is going in like this on Briana, who they’ve all mutually agreed to leave in peace with her delusions and her deadbeat.

Terra-Jole-Side-Braid-Little-Women-LA

But Tonya ain’t stoppin’! Terra snarks that Tonya is “the queen of verbal diarrhea right now, and unfortunately she’s sharting all over Briana.” Tonya stands by her statements, despite these heifers still having cognitive issues processing what she meant. Jasmine and Terra want to make this their issue, and even Elena jumps on the bandwagon crying “foul!” all of a sudden.

But what they still (god help me!) don’t get is that Tonya’s comments about average sized children didn’t pertain in the slightest to them. Because while a few of the ladies in this group may be partnered with some questionable dudes, there’s only one who’s in real danger. And her name is Briana Renee.

TELL US: WAS JASMINE’S ANGER ABOUT THE PET COMMENTS DUE TO HORMONES OR DELUSION? DO YOU AGREE WITH TONYA STICKING BY HER STATEMENTS ABOUT BRIANA?

‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X’ Episode 2 Recap: If The Shelter’s A Rockin’…

Survivor recap

Survivor recap

Love was in the air this week on Survivor, but for one contestant, there was nothing but heart-break in the end. I guess that beats having a heart-attack, as another castaway was feared to have suffered tonight. Yes, there is a lot to cover, and we will be talking about much more than puppies and butts when we dive into Episode 2 of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X. Let’s do this!

As always, I’ll try to keep these first two paragraphs “spoiler free,” so only read further if you have already seen Episode 2, or if you don’t mind it being spoiled. You’ve been warned!

What a difference a week makes! David, who one week ago looked as lost and confused as a fart in a fan factory, had an amazing few days on the island since. Of all of the Gen-Xers, it’s David who first is able to get fire, which is a miracle if you consider he couldn’t break a twig in half using both hands and a knee and was afraid of loud chopping noises just last week. Or as David puts it, he’s “More of a Cochran than an Ozzy.” Not only does he make himself useful with building fire, he concocts a smart plan to hunt for the hidden Immunity Idol, under the guise of searching for large rocks that the tribe can use as seats. He knew he got pretty filthy when searching for Idols a few days back, so the “rock chair” cover was a perfect ploy, since his tribe would be none the wiser should he return with a rock, covered from head to toe in mud.

It’s clear that the rest of his tribe – “Paul‘s Posse” as Ken calls them – have definitely already passed judgment on David and they have labeled him unfit for this game, and he is wholly underestimated at this point. It may be a great place to be. Because incredibly, David becomes the first person this season to find a hidden Idol, when he finds a marked coconut (let’s thank the producers that they didn’t show what was probably several long hours of David trying to open the darned thing). Kudos to him for then sharing it with Ken, a man who is the yin to his yang (in that he is a man’s man), solidifying what is the unlikeliest of alliances. Along with CeCe, these three are still in the minority of the Gen-X tribe, but with an Idol at their disposal, they are ready and in prime position to shake-up the game in a major way.

Speaking of shaking up the game, we almost had yet another medical evacuation situation this episode. Paul – you know, the 50-something “Gen-Xer” – had a little spell and fell to the ground, in what was definitely the scariest moment of the season thus far (if you don’t count each of the scowls given by Lucy thus far…I mean, the woman hasn’t said but a few words through two episodes, but hasn’t smiled since her pre-season press photo…oh wait, she didn’t smile in that either!  Like, they have not yet released a shot of Lucy not looking totally miserable or annoyed.  Come on Lucy!  We know you can do it!) Luckily for Lucy “outsmiling” the other contestants is not part of the slogan that makes up Survivor’s moniker.

Paul‘s scare fortunately turned out to be nothing major, just a mix of heat exhaustion and dehydration.  Soon afterwards he was good to go, and even helped win his tribe this week’s water-obstacle-course Immunity Challenge. Between Paul, David and Ken (who was also seen catching an octopus, proving that this dude is a legit outdoors-man), we got very little air-time tonight with any of the other Gen-Xers, as much of the drama played out over at the Millennials camp.

Yes, in an episode called #LoveGoggles, there was a lot of time spent with Taylor and Figgy, who two episodes into the season, are already a full-blown showmance. Neither of them of course are talking about how they are attracted to anything substantial, it’s all physical attraction. We got a great look at the Millennials tribe dynamics this episode, with Jay and Michelle trying to navigate the happy couple further and further into the game, and with Michaela growing increasingly frustrated with Figgy. The way things played out, you get the feeling that a lot was lost on the cutting room floor, because it wasn’t made exactly clear how Figgy ended up getting seven votes to keep her.

Clearly Michelle influenced Hannah at Tribal Council, and Jay might have gotten to Michaela, telling her that she was next in the pecking order after Figgy, but the latter was not made blatantly clear, and with how mad Michaela seemed to be towards Figgy, it does seem odd that she would want to keep her and align with her in the short-term. But by the vote’s end – with Mari getting blindsided – it was made pretty obvious that Zeke and Adam were on the outside and had no idea what was going on.  It also appears that Michelle is the one pulling the strings, and even though it might have been a risky move to put her own neck on the line in order to save one half of a showmance, Michelle came out on top and swayed the power of the Millennial tribe, for now, in her favor. If they stay true to their generational stereotype however, it’s possible that many of them are only playing for the short-term, instead of their long-term in this game, which means that none of them are safe.

And how about a moment to mourn Mari? She seemed tough, smart and ready for this game…the exact type of person who usually either goes really deep and wins or goes home super-early because she is seen as a tremendous threat. Mari’s the type of player I would love to see play the game again, the sort of contestant that you know had more to offer than what was actually shown over the course of just two episodes.

All the hoopla between Michelle and Hannah that occurred at Tribal was pretty interesting, and it’ll be interesting to see next week what exactly went on, what Hannah’s thought process was, and what the aftermath of her decision will be. You’ve got to love Hannah’s indecision to cast her vote though, culminating in the best photo/video bomb of all-time when Jeff Probst leaned his head into the background of the shot to check in on the beleaguered voter.

X, airing Wednesday, Sept. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Photo: Robert Voets/CBS Entertainment ©2016 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Episode Take-Away: It was a lackluster episode in that we hardly checked in with several of the contestants that we got to know so well in the first episode (Jessica, where are you?). Zeke had but a few quips and nothing more, and the vast majority of the Gen-X tribe was hardly shown at all. Of course, this is typical of early-season episodes. But we did get a strong look at the Millennial tribe and we learned that while Figgy is safe for now, even her closest allies see her as someone they can get out later.

The youngest dude out there, 18-year-old Will, might have been prophetic when he said that letting a person like Figgy survive early in the game could be a total disaster, as he’s seen players like Parvati and Cochran thrive when given the chance. But love endured, at least during tonight’s episode, and with David in possession of an Idol and now aligned with Ken, there are definitely some fireworks lined up once the focus shifts back over to the Gen-X tribe next week.

Strategic Move of the Week: This has to go to Michelle working the votes in Figgy‘s favor, not only in convincing Hannah live at Tribal Council, but in working with Jay to sway Michaela. Michelle seems like an incredibly dangerous player, surrounded by others not quite as game-savvy as she. Her aggression might put a target on her back sooner rather than later, but she’s the type of player that might just end up striking first. Anyways, kudos to Michelle for keeping her alliance intact, and setting herself up nicely for next week.

Voted out this week: Mari

Vote:  7 – Mari (Figgy, Taylor, Jay, Michaela, Hannah, Michelle, Will), 3 – Figgy (Mari, Adam, Zeke)

Next Week’s Episode: Zeke and Adam, rightfully so, feel betrayed by Hannah and they waste no time in confronting her back at camp following Mari’s blindside. But also teased is a major game twist, and we’re shown a shot of Michaela reaching into a bag provided by Jeff Probst, and pulling something out. They wouldn’t do a tribe shake-up at Episode 3 already, would they? We’ll see you next week, and thanks for reading!

TELL US – WHAT DID YOU THINK OF TONIGHT’S EPISODE?  DID MICHELLE JUST PUT A BIG TARGET ON HER BACK BY GOING OUT ON A LIMB TO SAVE FIGGY?  WHO AT THIS POINT DO YOU FEEL IS IN THE BEST POSITION TO WIN THE GAME?

Big Brother Over the Top Premiere Recap: Meet the New Houseguests!

The Big Brother Over the Top cast was revealed a few days ago, and now we get to see them in action for the first time on tonight’s fall season premiere!! We’ve already decided on a few of the houseguests as our early favorites based on first impressions from their interviews. Like Cornbread the country boy. Yes, there is actually a player who calls himself Cornbread. You just gotta love Big Brother casting.

Big Brother Over the Top Cast

Big Brother Over the Top Cast

Overall the Big Brother Over the Top cast is quite intriguing and definitely a bit different from the usual players we get for the show in recent year. We can’t help but wonder if that might be somewhat because normal Big Brother casting director Robyn Kass reportedly did not pick out the BBOTT houseguests. Instead, it was supposedly the folks who usually cast Survivor who chose the Big Brother Over the Top cast members.

Sure, there are plenty of ‘model wannabes’ and ‘probably looks good with his shirt off’ guys, just like every season. However, there seems to be a much wider mix of so-called ‘real’ people in this cast. Although, once again, there are plenty of complaints out there on social media about the lack of diversity among the houseguests yet again.

The photos and CBS bios released in the cast reveal on Monday are all well and good, but we are always most eager for the show to premiere. That’s where you start to really get a sense of their personalities and possible game play strategies going into the house. We’re ready to get this party started, see what new twists this special CBS All Access only season has in store, and take a closer look at our new players entering the Big Brother Over the Top house tonight!
