When it comes to red carpets, bringing a parent as a date is cool. As the ladies of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fall deeper into dysfunction, their suspicion of each other grows. The cast still can’t wrap their heads around the arrest of Jen Shah, and as the groups splinters, fingers are irrationally pointing to others suggesting some phantom involvement in the investigation.
Meredith Marks, of course, admitted to hiring a private investigator after her son’s cyber war with Jen. But would that investigation have stumbled upon a decade long federal investigation? Meredith denies the possibility.
Whitney Rose is taking the lead playing amateur sleuth. She and cousin Heather Gay took a comment made by Mary Cosby and ran with it, rationalizing that even she may have been cosmically involved in Jen’s investigation. Did Mary mean something more when she said, “that’s what happens when you mess with my church?”
It really does seem like a stretch, but it’s being said in the group now. How will this play out? If its for a story line, Whitney really won’t be able to pin Mary down for any conversation. For her part, Mary is making some exaggerated statements about Jen being part of a cartel. It’s one outlandish statement after another.
Meredith is staying above the fray and stepping away from drama this season. And that includes denying any involvement in Jen’s arrest. After this week’s episode of wild (rose) accusations, Meredith took to Twitter to deny deny deny.
She wrote, “While I appreciate the notion that you think that I have the power to influence a decade long FBI investigation — I had a cyber specialist investigate threatening texts sent to my son and Heather. I shared the info with H every step of the way.”
Another tweet read, “A specific person wasn’t investigated, the threats were. I doubt that a cyber specialist would be able to break into a decade long federal investigation.”
Well, that rationality will fall on deaf ears as a teaser trailer shows Whitney playing Nancy Drew and questioning Meredith’s alleged involvement. Meredith’s strong friendship with Mary will also get her lumped in the with suspicions that Mary was somehow involved. It seems Meredith will have a lot to answer for this kinship with the divisive pastor as well as the decision to hire a private investigator.

But before we say goodbye to the Johnson family, let's say...Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is embarking on her new chapter after the death of her beloved husband, Gregg Leakes. Gregg was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. Sadly, Gregg passed away on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. Bravo-lebrities shared their condolences and love for Gregg on social media. It was a heartbreaking loss.
Even RHOA star Kenya Moore, who clashed with NeNe constantly, stated of Gregg, “Honestly, he is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met in my life.” NeNe slammed her former friend and co-star Cynthia Bailey for not showing up after Gregg’s death.
NeNe shared her experience with grief. She said, “I have good days and bad days, but they say it’s normal.” NeNe also gave a humorous thank you to all the men giving her some online attention. ”All the gentlemen that have been in my DMs, thank y’all too,” NeNe commented. “But anyway, hey, I love reading the messages. They are inspiring to say the least.”
Now NeNe seems to be following RHOA alum Phaedra Parks’ advice and hitting the dating scene. Peter Thomas, Cynthia’s ex-husband, reportedly introduced NeNe to businessman Nyonisela Sioh. He is originally from Liberia, Africa but currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Nyonisela celebrated NeNe’s birthday at her Linnethia Lounge along with family and friends, including Porsha Williams.
NeNe revealed that Gregg gave her his blessing to find love again. “I will love Gregg forever & ever! Grieving is hard!” NeNe told The Shade Room. “Gregg and I had a very tearful conversation before his passing. His words to me were ‘be happy, keep smiling and he who finds you, has found a good one,’” she added.
Now NeNe is marking another milestone in her journey. BET reported that NeNe has sold the home that she shared with Gregg. On September 21, 2021, NeNe put the mansion, which is in Duluth, Georgia, on the market. NeNe originally listed the 10,000 square foot home, where she lived with Gregg for 7 years, for $4 million. NeNe slashed the price of the home twice before finding a buyer who paid $3.495 million.
The listing touted the mansion’s “West Coast vibes.” The home has 5 bedrooms along with 7 bathrooms. One bathroom features double vanities and a free-standing bathtub. It also has a pool, waterfalls, and a covered, wraparound patio. Nice!
It seems that NeNe may also be eyeing a RHOA comeback. In a clip from The Real shared by Queens of Bravo, NeNe discussed a possible return. She stated, “I’m okay with returning to the show as long as we can work through a few things. I’m happy to return to the show.”
But it doesn’t sound like Andy Cohen is ready to hand NeNe a peach. When contract negotiations failed, NeNe quit the show and lashed out at Andy. “If you don’t have anything positive to say about me working for your network for 13 years, stop bringing up my name on your show to help your ratings,” NeNe remarked. The clip was shared by Queens of Bravo on Twitter.
Andy responded by stating, “I think she would probably prefer that I keep her name out of my mouth and that is what I’m going to honor.” Bloop!

Does anything about this season of Vanderpump Rules feel authentic? Everything’s coming off so forced, fake, and contrived. Whatever they were trying to accomplish with this season clearly isn’t working.
Katie Maloney stops by Lala Kent’s to chat and discuss Lala’s previous event. It’s Lala, so naturally everything’s going to lead back to drama somehow. Lala’s pressed because Ariana Madix didn’t say one word to her at the event. I get being upset about that, but their relationship hasn’t been solid in forever. She shouldn’t be too surprised that there’s still some lingering weirdness because everything’s still fresh.
Katie doesn’t want to be in the middle of their rift. Why can’t they be honest about how they feel? If they do that, they might be able to reach someone common ground. The weird limbo place they’ve been in all season isn’t going to solve anything.
Katie dishes to Lala about her sandwich shop idea with Ariana. They’re meeting up with Lisa Vanderpump soon to go over some of their ideas and get her input. These ladies are already heads and shoulders above the men with their new venture. They realize they aren’t creative geniuses and are enlisting the help of an established restaurateur.
Unlike the boys, Katie’s considering having Randall Emmett invest in her business. She’s more aware than her husband of her financial status, so she’s already locking in the big guns. All he wants is something named after him, so it shouldn’t be a difficult pitch to get him on board.
Tom Schwartz is still in friendship limbo with Tom Sandoval, so he’s hanging with James Kennedy. Evidently it’s his new dream to become a DJ in his bars, so he’s enlisting James’ help. This is James’ niche, so maybe something productive will come from it.
In more important news, James is approaching two years of his sobriety and is ready for the next step. No more weed. That’s right. The one thing he’s relied on to function for many years is going bye-bye. He’s accustomed to smoking at all hours of the day, so this is going to be the epic test. Can James find a way to eradicate it from his life for good, or will he remain “California sober”?
Schwartz isn’t the only one taking a new bestie for a spin. Sandoval’s spending some time in his gym with Brock Davies. Brock’s really going through it because the wedding plans went awry. The cost of everything was becoming too much, and he had to pull the plug on the surprise event. One day they’ll maybe tie the knot.
Things are still weird with the Toms, and not hanging out is still in full swing. The break’s healthy for them though. They spend so much time with each other that it’s creeping into all facets of their lives. There’s no reason for Schwartz to treat his wife like shit. It’s not a horrible thing for him to be home more and being a good husband for once.
Scheana Marie’s trying to say she didn’t know anything about the surprise wedding, but she did? She obviously know more because she was hella prepared for this to go down. It sounds like he was going out of his way to get Lala & Randall to pay for everything. He’s an opportunist. Let’s call it what it is.
Scheana’s protecting herself this time with a prenup. If she and Brock actually walk down the aisle, she’s able to walk away with her money. Let’s see if this deters him from following through. I have a feeling it will.
The Toms are totally in over their head with this new bar. They’re behind schedule, and it looks like the fun has been sucked out of it. They’re having a progress party because they want their friends to see what it looked like before. There’s not much progress at all. What are they even going to show their loved ones? I’d be far too embarrassed to show something off if I was many months behind in the way they are.
Watching James & Raquel Leviss plan their engagement party is cringe. We all know by now that they’ve split, so it’s all awkward to see play out. Also, you can tell Raquel’s sister isn’t even remotely a fan of James. She’s almost gritting her teeth trying to smile through his sea of bullshit. I’m sure she breathed a sigh of relief the day their split become public.
Brock’s out of his fucking mind. He’s now trying to do the surprise wedding in the middle of James & Raquel’s engagement party. Is he that desperate for a free moment that he’d take away the spotlight from them? Dick move man. Dick move.
Ariana & Tom are visibly cringing on the phone with Brock hearing about this “plan”. The second James finds out about this, he’s going to slip back into his rage ways. One thing is all it takes.
Katie & Ariana want their own identity outside of being romantic partners of the Toms. This is it. This is their moment to shine. It’s all in the follow through.
It’s in such poor taste for Brock to even consider doing this to James & Raquel. Not only that, but how is he supporting the financials of the engagement ring. It’s a $25,000 ring. Shit is REAL. Very oof.
The friendship break is officially over for the Toms. Did they accomplish anything they set out to do? They’re still completely in over their heads with this business. Nothing’s done. There’s no progress at this progress party. Even the official sign for the bar leaves a lot to be desired.
Lisa’s making comments throughout the entire party under her breath. I can’t blame her. She’s experienced in this sort of business, so she knows her shit. She’s the person they should be listening to very carefully. However, Sandoval’s a dictator about the venture, so nobody can really voice anything.
Brock challenges James‘ story about why he didn’t quit smoking weed. In typical James fashion, he loses his cool in the bar and flips out on Brock. It’s bigger than that though. The issue between the two has to do with the way it shifted after James wouldn’t do promo for free. It all boils down to different definitions of friendship.

As the title of this recap gives away, there were plenty of things to raise your eyebrows at this week on Below Deck. Chief among them liquified cuisine of every kind! Poor Chef Rachel Hargrove. I imagine it can’t be fun — or all that appetizing — to put your heart and soul into a dish and then watch all go into a blender. In this (supersized) episode alone, we were treated to the image of liquified chicken and breadfruit curry with spinach. Emulsified wagyu steak. Liquid eggs Benedict. And a french toast smoothie! Listen, obviously it must be miserable to charter a yacht with your jaw wired shut, but couldn’t the primary have been happy with normal protein smoothies instead of having a meltdown at every meal?
Speaking of meltdowns, that’s exactly where we left her back in 2021, and she starts out this week’s episode locked in her room. The aforementioned chicken breast smoothie seems to calm her down a bit. But by the time the next course is served, she’s not even finished with it! Logistically and realistically, every meal service is just an absurdly unyielding hoop for Rachel to jump through. Try keeping everyone else’s food hot while you blend up one guest’s meal. Ugh.
The dinner ends up being a dud. Everyone’s mood is in the dumps and there’s only one way to save the evening: a nighttime silent disco on the beach! Now, I for one have never particularly understood the appeal of a silent disco. Other than the fact that it saves production the trouble of dubbing music over what’s actually playing. It looks ridiculous and awkward. But guests on these vacations just love it once in a while. And the idea of having it on the beach instead of the sky lounge like usual is pretty smart. It allows Eddie Lucas, Heather Chase and Jake Foulger to get the guests off the boat and hit the (silent) reset button. By the time they’re danced out, everyone’s smiling and the crew’s tip just might be saved.
The next morning, you’d think it would all be good vibes and refreshed spirits. But nope. Not among the crew, at least. Rayna Lindsey is still giving Heather the iciest of cold shoulders over the latter using the n-word a couple episodes back. She vents her frustrations to Wes O’Dell, but puts a revisionist history on her conversation with Eddie, insisting the first officer shrugged the incident off and said it “didn’t matter.” Which, for the record, is not what happened. Meanwhile, Heather’s left in the dark over what she did. After all, Rayna initially used it as a teachable moment, the chief stew profusely apologized and she thought they were all good. But now it’s up to Fraser Olender to clue his boss in on the fact that Rayna is very much not over the ordeal.
The information sends Heather into a 10-minute breakdown, but she doesn’t have time to dwell on her gaffe. There’s a dinner service to plan! And it’s all gold-themed. But the chief stew is so flustered that just before dinner starts, she manages to drop a glass pitcher. Which promptly shatters all over the floor. And slices her ankle. At first it seems like a minor cut, but soon enough Heather‘s blood is everywhere. And stopping to properly bandage the wound delays dinner service. Oh, and did I mention Captain Lee Rosbach is dining with the guests? In a full Stud of the Sea tuxedo? Not the best timing to hold up the food, Heather.
With help from the deck team (and Rachel‘s fancy cloches), the dinner actually moves forward with minimal impact. Other than Captain Lee being visibly (and hilariously) grossed out by the primary’s wagyu beef smoothie. But by the time the grew goes down for the night, Heather‘s still worked up over Rayna being angry with her. And since she thought they already worked past the moment, she’s not sure how to approach such a delicate situation again. Other than to ask Rachel for advice in their cabin. But the drama keeps her up all night, and in the morning, she sleeps through both her alarm and an attempt by Wes to wake her up. She’s a full hour late for her service and the clueless deckhand is left pretending he knows how to make oat milk lattes.
Adding to the interior issues is the fact that the crew is still down a third stew. Thanks again for that, Jessica Albert. But in an attempt to maintain control of one single aspect of her job, Heather thinks she has a solution. Stopping by the wheelhouse, she recommends an old second stew from a boat she worked on in Florida. Captain Lee asks for the stew’s resume and promises to take it under advisement. After a rather complicated docking involving wind speeds of 30 knots and rotating M/Y Seanna a full 180 degrees, the charter is blessedly over and it’s time for the guests to depart. Now take your smoothies for the road and get off the boat!
During the tip meeting, Captain Lee reveals that the crew’s efforts to keep the charter from sinking paid off. To the tune of $22,000! And with one less crew member to split it between, the tip comes out to $2,000 per person. Guess all those liquid meals were worth it? (Eh, Rachel might say otherwise.) And that’s not all the good news! Captain Lee is rewarding the crew with a much-deserved day off the following day. Complete with a catamaran ride to a private beach and all the alcohol they can drink. You can practically hear everyone exhale out of pure joy. Fraser, in particular, can’t wait to spend some time with Jake outside of work. And honestly, this recapper can’t wait for that either.
The crew’s day off arrives bright and early. But before they can get to enjoying themselves, Heather feels the need to sit down with Rayna. Which takes a little convincing, since the deckhand tries to brush off her attempt at talking things out. Once more, the chief stew apologizes again and again for repeating the n-word. In her confessional, she chalks the moment up to an attempt to bond with Rayna? Like…what? But on the surface, Rayna acts totally forgiving. She even tells Heather she accepts her apology and hugs it out, promising to move forward in “positive direction.”
The gang boards the catamaran, which gives Wes the opportunity to show off his sailing experience. Shirtless and in charge, the deckhand is clearly in his happy place as the driver lets him sail the catamaran to Reggae Beach. Once they hit the beach, the crew splits up into, well, cliques for lack of a better word. Rachel‘s wisely not drinking considering how that went on her day off last season. Wes retreats to the gift shop to try to FaceTime Jessica. And Rayna informs Fraser in the bathroom that she basically didn’t mean anything she said to Heather earlier and can never forgive her. Who’s not being genuine now, Rayna?
Later in the day, Fraser finally gets his alone time with Jake. It involves, in the lead deckhand’s own words, a bottle of rosé, a paddleboard, and a shirtless Jake comfortably nestled between Fraser’s legs. Sounds like a party to me. That is, until Rayna decides to crash it like a jealous little sister. As much as Fraser points out that the vibes happening between him and Jake aren’t strictly buddy-buddy, the situation is starting to verge on some sort of weird throuple meets three’s company scenario. And he just wants Rayna to butt out. Let the boys kiss in peace!
But going back to the boat, Fraser learns Rayna isn’t about to let that happen. He pops into Jake‘s bunk and finds Rayna already waiting there, begging for the three of them to cuddle and watch, uhh, Norbit of all things. Interestingly, production highlighted something happening under the covers during this scene, but I for one couldn’t exactly make out what they were trying to show. Maybe a more eagle-eyed viewer can enlighten me in the comments section? Either way, Fraser gets sick of the love triangle rather quickly, and retreats to the deck for some alone time. Leaving Jake and Rayna free to hook up in full view of the cameras. This is getting a little weird….
TELL US – IS RAYNA BEING TWO-FACED TO HEATHER? SHOULD HEATHER BE FORGIVEN FOR SAYING THE N-WORD? IS RAYNA RUINING FRASER AND JAKE’S BLOOMING BROMANCE? WHICH LIQUIFIED MEAL WAS THE LEAST PALATABLE TO YOU?

Real Housewives of Orange County has completely crossed over into a new era, but it’s still as messy as ever with a cast of new faces. Yes, familiar characters like Heather Dubrow and Shannon Beador are still hanging in there. But the newbies, they came to play. Especially the extremely messy Noella Bergener, who is doing a pretty good job at filling the footsteps of her former friend Braunwyn Windham-Burke. Noella exudes Braunwyn energy, but with her own particular twist. But her tumultuous life is providing for the bulk of the drama on the current season of RHOC, and it’s definitely not a fun way to kick off a reality TV career.
Noella was married to James Bergener, whom she claims was known as “Sweet James” to probably only himself. However, he’s doing a pretty good job of following in the footsteps of the other horrible James/Jims (Jim Bellino, Jim Edmonds, etc.) that came before him on Real Housewives. James decided, right when Noella began filming, to abandon his wife and son and cut their credit cards. He filed for divorce from Puerto Rico and it’s been a social media mess ever since.
I want to give props to Noella for being so open and honest on camera about what’s going down. It’s obvious that she’s going through some really horrible stuff that’s playing out as viewers are just getting to know her. But it’s getting to be a bit much on social media. Her Instagram page is full of multiple-paragraph posts complete with receipts to prove James wrong. She claims her ex is controlling her by complicating their divorce process and withholding money from her, which sounds like an absolute nightmare.
Noella’s posts have been revealing her timeline of events as far as her relationship with James. Radar Online spells it all out, revealing that the couple got legally married in 2020. James’ lawyers claim that the pair were merely dating for five years, which didn’t match Noella’s recollection of events whatsoever. She claims they had a wedding ceremony in 2017 prior to their legal marriage, and that they spent 6 years living together as husband and wife.
Among her numerous posts calling out James‘ alleged “slap[s] in the face,” she accuses him of cheating on her. This comes after claims that Noella allegedly had an affair earlier this year, but she disputes those claims with text receipts, of course. “Texts from the day James said I admitted to/or had an affair. Still not quite sure which because he keeps changing his story,” Noella wrote. “The entire basis of his being able to file for divorce in Puerto Rico. Without an affair then he doesn’t qualify to file for divorce.”
James is also claiming that Noella admitted to cheating on him during a counseling session. “Our therapist has seen us through some dark times,” she said. “Infidelity for sure but not on my part.” All I hear is he said, she said. This comes after reports that Noella got with James while he was married to another woman. Oy vey.
I know this is a lot to follow but bear with me. Noella has also insinuated in separate posts that James cheated on her. She claims that the day their son was diagnosed with autism, James flew to Dallas with his work partner and female employees to look at an office space. “I asked him to come home and be there for us during this very scary time and he stayed for three days,” she said. Ouch. James is probably going to post an entire 20-minute video about this if he hasn’t already. If only he spent as much time paying his taxes (allegedly).
Noella also accused James of lying when it comes to their opinions about filming RHOC. She says the pair lived in their Orange County home for three years and purchased their Puerto Rican home as a vacation getaway. They hunkered down on the island for a few months during the COVID-19 pandemic and agreed to come back to film the show. “Which was always the plan. James was a big part of filming and signed every release for both him and our son. He was my #1 fan for this opportunity,” Noella said.
There is sometimes such thing as too much tea, and this is it. I like to speculate about the ins and outs of reality stars’ lives, but this is a little too much. Like, everyone should keep their legal papers to themselves and log off for a while.

I don’t know about you, but Bravo remained a bright light for this recapper in a pretty terrible year last year. Sure, 2021 was the worst. But at least we were entertained? And in the case of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, a two week break for the holidays was simply too long. Am I the only one who had the chaos from the pho dinner bouncing around in my mind through Christmas and New Year’s?
For our first new episode of 2022, we pick up in the aftermath, with Jennie Nguyen dropping by Duy Nguyen‘s office for a debrief over The Cheesecake Factory. However, Jennie’s only got one thing on her mind, and it’s not her friends’ questions about Jen Shah‘s arrest. It’s Mary Cosby‘s blatantly racist comments about Jennie’s “slanted eyes” and the “yellow tones” of her skin. Mary was attempting to couch the remarks in a compliment, but they’ didn’t sit right with Jennie. However, she didn’t take the chance to call it out or put her frenemy in her place amid all the fighting that soon overtook the afternoon.
At the same time, Mary‘s meeting up with Meredith Marks for lunch at Veneto. Because you know how much Mary loves her Italian food. And even in this conversation, she can’t help herself from doing a racist Asian accent to imitate Jennie‘s voice. Yikes. Not a good look. Not at all. She also offers up some convoluted theory that Lisa Barlow should be “check[ing]” the newbie more often since she introduced her to the group. But instead, she think Jennie’s just turned into a miniature Lisa. And speaking of the Vida Tequila queen, Mary’s curious to know where Meredith stands with her BFF these days. But sadly, Meredith doesn’t know. She’ll always be annoyed at Lisa’s friendship with Jen. Though in my mind, her insistence on constantly defending Mary is just as confusing.
While Lisa plays the cool mom while getting Jack Barlow ready for his first prom, Heather Gay stops by Whitney Rose‘s house to help stuff gift bags for the Wild Rose Beauty launch that’s happening in just a few days. More like re-launch, I should say. Not only has Whitney run through her and Justin Rose‘s entire savings for this brand do-over, it totals more than $300,000. That’s a lot of money to bank on a fledgling skincare line… The Bad Weather cousins are also starting to get suspicious of what exactly was happening the day of Jen‘s arrest. Particularly the fact that Mary bailed at the last second to take her own transportation to Vail.
Combine that with the fact that Meredith also wasn’t on the bus, and the cousins are wondering if the two might have known something major was about to go down. More specifically if Meredith might have warned Mary at the last second, leaving the rest of them to experience the cold rush of the Feds storming the Beauty Lab parking lot. Sure, it’s just a theory. For now. But it could explain a lot of things happening within the group. Like Meredith and Mary’s somewhat blind allegiance to each other. And also the cracks forming in Lisa and Meredith’s friendship. (And let’s not forget, Lisa herself said on the bus that she thought Meredith might have known something…)
Over at the Shah Chalet, Jen‘s transparent attempts at damage control continue. This time she’s putting together hygiene kits with her mother for the National Tongan American Society. While doing the kitchen table charity work, she laments to her mom about the legal team she’s recruited for her defense. And also the $2 million retainer they’re requiring. Seems like Coach Shah‘s idea to downsize will be inevitable, if only to keep the lawyers paid. Jen’s mom has also offered to liquidate her retirement fun and donate nearly a million dollars of her own to her daughter’s defense. Which on one had is really sweet. But on the other feels like yet another example of Jen (allegedly) taking advantage of the elderly? I said what I said.
The night of Whitney‘s party arrives before we know it, and everyone’s been instructed to wear either neutrals or blush tones. As she chooses her outfit, Lisa admits she’s a bit nervous to see Meredith at the soiree. Her bestie’s energy has changed in the wake of Jen‘s arrest. They’re bickering more than they ever have before and just can’t seem to get on the same page. Meanwhile, Jennie arrives at The Ivy with a Saks Fifth Avenue bag in tow containing the Louboutin booties Mary (re-)gifted her in Vail. Because she’s bound and determined to return them. At the party.
The other ‘Wives and various hangers-on trickle in soon enough. Mary and Meredith arrive together — the former loudly complaining about the apparent lack of coat check and the latter decked out in giant plumes of lavender feathers stapled onto a blazer. Angie Harrington and other assorted faces we’ve seen throughout the season are mingling. Jen shows up in a burnished strawberry blonde wig. And Whitney arrives fashionably late to her own party, decked out in a bright red dress that was also, apparently, featured on Season 2 of Emily in Paris. Almost immediately after snapping a group photo, though, Jennie rounds all the ladies up for a private roundtable in a back room.
Jennie‘s ready to confront Mary and she wants witnesses. Returning the shoes, Jennie insists she found out from Lisa that they were meant for Jen in the first place. Oops. And not only that, Mary even left the receipt in the box. Double oops. In her confessional, Mary actually admits she bought the shoes for the Season 1 reunion, but ended up not liking them. Though, she argues that they were never worn and as such aren’t technically a re-gift. Jennie also takes her frenemy to task for the aforementioned racist comments. And Mary’s response? “Really? I love slanted eyes.”
That’s right. This woman DOUBLES. DOWN. It’s disgusting. And almost as bad is Meredith, who waffles about whether or not the statement was offensive while in the next breath admitting she’d never say it. (Whitney couldn’t have been more right in her confessional: if it had been anyone other than Mary, you know Meredith would’ve held her accountable. I mean, just imagine for a second if those words had slipped out of Jen‘s mouth…) And yet, Mary feigns total naïveté to the discriminatory impact of her words. In fact, she barely bothers squeaking out an apology.
Considering she’s hardly taking a modicum of accountability, Whitney rightly refuses to let the issue go. And now feels like a good time for Lisa to bring up Mary‘s comments in Vail comparing Jen to a “thug” in the Mexican cartels. An accusation which Mary flat-out denies saying, despite the on-camera proof. As Lisa would say, roll footage! However, Meredith‘s more interested in moving the goalposts of the conversation to subjects beyond the mere prejudicial. Like how terrible everyone was to Jen at the pho luncheon. (I’m sorry, but is this just to get the heat off Mary?) Lisa jumps in to get clear on who Meredith is aiming these passive accusations at, and once again things start getting ugly.
Lisa calls out Mary for lying, which prompts Mary to get up and flee from the conversation. And of course, Meredith goes running after her. Just like in the International Peace Gardens. Shockingly, Heather then turns to Lisa and urges her not to let Mary get between her relationship with her best friend. Look: it’s happening in front of our eyes. But when Lisa (calmly) tries to pull Meredith aside, she gets accused of attacking and yelling at the latter, who then storms off. Shifting gears, Lisa tries to talk some sense into Mary, but that gets pretty much nowhere.
As Whitney attempts to make a toast to the assembled partygoers, the pair go tit for tat by the step and repeat. Mary accuses Lisa of being two-faced and judgmental. Lisa insists Mary used those words in Vail. Because she did. (In her confessional, Mary not so much doubles down again as draws yet another parallel between Jen and the cartels. Something about helicopters and the FBI. Let’s just say it’s certainly not a retraction.) As much as she can deny, deflect and point fingers, it seems very clear that Mary is the problem in this situation.

Their love has always been worth it. Ahead of This Is Us' sixth and final season, which kicks off tonight, Jan. 4, Milo Ventimiglia reflected on playing the Pearson patriarch...Season 2 of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is surely giving us plenty to talk about, even outside of Jen Shah’s arrest and fraud allegations. Meredith Marks has no choice but to get involved, even though she’d rather be totally disengaged about the group drama. Lisa Barlow is giving us Real Housewives MVP energy yet again, like the baby gorgeous she is. Mary Cosby is one person we already know will be in the hot seat during the reunion.
Mary has been going at it with almost all of the ladies (and one “little girl” named Whitney Rose). Except for Meredith, who is extremely (and suspiciously) ride-or-die for Mother Mary. Amidst the cult allegations surrounding Mary’s church, Mer’s been busy defending Mary’s offensive actions. Yes, Mary is clearly on her own planet, out of touch with reality. But Meredith, of all people, has decided this is the person she needs to align with. Maybe Mary really did put a spell on her.
Mary’s also been guilty of making not one, but several racist remarks throughout this season. She referred to “Mexican thugs” when talking about Jen Shah’s alleged crimes, which was just cringy to watch. And, unfortunately, her main target has been newbie Jennie Nguyen. Jennie just wants to eat pho and have fun, but Mary can’t stop making snide racist remarks toward her and she has to stand up for herself. No wonder Jennie isn’t into being Mary’s friend. Not after the things she’s said to her all season.
Even during the most recent episode, Jennie confronted Mary for making remarks about her having “slanted eyes.” When Mary was gossiping to Meredith about Jennie, she also used an offensive accent to impersonate her castmate. What was even more unfortunate is that we didn’t see Meredith stand up to Mary for her actions. She chuckled a bit and shrugged it off, and it was in pretty poor taste.
After the latest RHOSLC episode aired, Miss Marks took to Twitter to defend her action, or lack thereof, in the Mary vs. Jennie situation. Meredith tweeted that it is “not OK to imitate someone’s accent” in reference to the scene.
Fans, however, were quick to point out that Meredith chose to speak out on Twitter, rather than to Mary’s face. However, Meredith clapped back, saying that she did confront Mary, but it was cut from the episode. “You see clips of moments and not the full thing. I was clear that it was not ok with me. Ask Mary,” Meredith tweeted. The Ice Queen is not down with people accusing her of fraud, whether they’re RHOSLC fans or personal enemies like Jen Shah.
Meredith elaborated in another tweet about what she said to Mary at the moment that we didn’t see. “I said I would not say that. I was trying to articulate that the person/community affected by a prejudicial remark is the one who can determine whether it is offensive or not. If Jennie is offended, it is offensive, end of story and it is not up to me to determine that,” she wrote. Meredith, WHERE IS THIS ENERGY ON SCREEN? This girl runs from the cameras whenever there’s even a whiff of drama. Yet, she’s ready to blast people on Twitter? It’s not sitting right.
That wasn’t the end of Meredith’s moment on Twitter, though. She tweeted an apology for her ineffective communication and for unintentionally causing harm by her comments. She also continued to insist that she spoke to Mary about the offensive remarks. “I later talked to Mary one on one in hopes that would be productive. I also made sure Jennie knew that she has my support. Please be patient,” Meredith tweeted. Girl, are we all watching the same show?
Once Mary got a whiff that her only friend was backing up her biggest enemy, she exploded in a tweet of her own (captured by @clubbravofam). “Really Meredith?? You had a conversation with me hoping it would be productive!! You was there … you seen I was coming from a place of a compliment. Stop acting like your teaching me. You have your own issues to be productive on… You never have the right answer.. ‘Switzerland,” Mary wrote. I don’t know how she does it, but Mary is a master at conveying her chaotic energy on social media. After this season, it seems like Mary might be at risk for getting the boot. The things that have come out of her mouth this season have left me speechless, not always in a good way. We know Lala Kent is looking for a way to snatch herself a snowflake.
