Real Housewives Who Are Refreshingly Honest About Their Sobriety

The Real Housewives franchise has a drinking problem on its hands. Case in point: Shannon Beador got behind her wheel drunk in September. Her car wrecked, she fled the scene, and shortly after, Shannon was sentenced to three years of probation. This wasn’t shocking, sadly, as Shannon actually now joins a long line of alcohol-related legal issues on Bravo.

To recap, Gina Kirschenheiter was also arrested for a DUI, while Kim Richards was arrested for disorderly conduct. Likewise, Luann de Lesseps was arrested for disorderly intoxication and battery of an officer. Her Welcome to Crappie Lake co-star Sonja Morgan also received a DUI back in 2010. In addition to these arrests, let’s not forget the dozens of lost memories, Heather Gay‘s mysterious black eye, and Brandi Glanville‘s drunken behaviors on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which saw sexual assault allegations arise.

Clearly, alcohol is a problem. We aren’t the only ones who think this to be true, thankfully. In fact, several of the Housewives have caught on to the pitfalls that just a few shots can bring, and therefore, many of them have now gone sober. As we know that liquor helps to loosen these stars for filming, this cannot be an easy lifestyle change for the ladies to partake in.

But, partake they are—and they have all admitted that it’s been hard. As we are impressed with their vulnerability, we’d like to give them credit. After all, sometimes, spilled tea should be positive. With that in mind, these are the Real Housewives who have been refreshingly honest about their sobriety journeys.

During the RHOC Season 14 premiere, viewers watched as Gina dealt with the fallout from her DUI. Here, Gina picked up her phone, engaging in an emotional FaceTime call with her dad. “I know I disappointed you,” she tearfully began, adding, “I just hope that the kids don’t think bad of me, too,” she sobbed, and as a mother, this hit. Parents are supposed to set examples for their children, so Gina’s honesty in this moment felt genuine.

Thankfully, this Real Housewives star is now sober, but the journey wasn’t easy. Speaking to People, Gina got real, explaining, “I would say to myself, I think I’m drinking too much. Next week, I’m not going to drink at all, but then next week would come and it’d be hard and I’d say, ‘f*ck it, I’m going to have a drink, I can’t do this,’ and that scared me. I wasn’t even able to have a short spurt of success not drinking, and that really raised a red flag, like, ‘Oh, this is serious.'”

It wasn’t until RHOC Season 17, however, however, that Gina won her battle over booze. After, Gina continued to keep it real when noting how this affected friendships. “It’s strange, when you stop drinking, you really see all these things you didn’t notice prior, like how alcohol is very normalized in mommy culture. And it’s scary because you don’t want to be judged,” she said.

Moving forward, Gina ordered mocktails while still bringing the drama on Real Housewives of Orange County. In fact, Gina stated that she was “more present” without drinking. This proves that alcohol doesn’t need to be a job requirement for reality television stars. For her refreshingly honest candor when it comes to multiple aspects of sobriety, we applaud Gina.

Kyle Richards from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills passed one year of sobriety in July. When an equally sober reporter caught up with her on BravoCon‘s red carpet, Kyle discussed her decision to cut out liquor. “I’m not an alcoholic,” she began, explaining instead that she “gave it up for fitness and health reasons.” With vanity accusations likely in the back of her mind, this admittance was pretty honest, if you ask us.

As for a positive aspect that this has since brought, Kyle also stated, “I wasn’t expecting to have all this clarity. I feel so different, in the best possible way.” She also stressed that her anxiety has been minimized, saying, “I don’t even take Lexapro anymore.” The fact that Kyle has maintained an alcohol-free lifestyle with lessened anxiety while her world literally implodes, well, it’s impressive.

You see, Kyle’s 27-year-long marriage to Mauricio Umansky has gone downhill, and the two have entered into a separation. On this, Kyle admitted that sobriety affected her marriage to Mauricio, as his social obligations see him attending booze-fueled parties often. Nevertheless, Kyle is sticking to her guns and remaining sober. For her honesty over her mental health journey and her efforts taken in remaining sober, we say, well done, Kyle.

Leah McSweeney was sober for almost ten years before joining Real Housewives of New York. Once hired, the pressures of filming saw her drinking habits return. She’s since resumed a sober lifestyle, and in every interview that Leah’s given, she’s presented as raw and genuine, admitting that it was way more than just alcohol that she struggled to kick. Now, Leah wants to create change, not only with those who similarly struggle, but within the network as well.

To explain, Leah is suing Bravo, citing a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. During filming, Leah claimed that her sobriety wasn’t handled well. Likewise, Leah said that her fellow cast members pressured her to drink, despite her history of substance abuse. On this, Leah was afraid to speak out, fearing retaliation from the network, as one of the producers allegedly told her that the viewers didn’t like her when she wasn’t drinking.

For her efforts made in helping those who come behind her, both on-air and off, we applaud Leah’s bravery and refreshingly honest takes on sobriety.

Todd Chrisley’s Prison Defends Food Service After Dead Animal Claims

Todd Chrisley might not be the prison reform hero we deserve, but he’s the one we have. While the former Chrisley Knows Best star continues serving his 12-year federal prison sentence, he’s come out with numerous claims about just how bad the conditions truly are.

Those in the U.S. know how badly the prison system needs reformation. Todd’s allegations are among several from across the country. However, given Todd’s notoriety, he’s brought his claims to the forefront of public discourse in ways other prisoners have been unable to.

Todd might just be the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ (FBOP’s) worst nightmare, whether his claims are valid or not. Recently, Todd made specific claims regarding the quality of the prison cafeteria, going as far as to say animals ran through the kitchen. Now, the FBP is firing back.

The FBOP reached out to TMZ to defend their name. The FBOP stressed that it operates safe and humane facilities. Todd claimed that squirrels and rats ran freely through the food storage facility and alleged that a dead cat dropped from the ceiling onto their food. The FBOP denied these claims and emphasized that food quality was a major priority.

The Bureau further stated that expired food is never used and always thrown away. Todd claimed his facility’s food was often outdated and covered in black mold. Not only does the institution claim to serve well-preserved food, but healthy, nutritious, and appetizing meals.

The FBOP also reminded everyone that their institutions are accredited by the American Correctional Association (and there’s no way they would let anything slip). The Bureau concluded by encouraging inmates to go through the Administrative Remedy Program to address any concerns. (Because there’s no way they would let anything slip either).

Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 13 Recap: Choppy Waters

Episode 13 of Southern Charm Season 9, aptly entitled “Choppy Waters,” was the ending we all needed to last week’s jaw-dropping episode. This edition promised a boatload of drama, and boy, did it deliver. While on the high seas for some much-needed fun in the sun, the Charmer’s tension is brewing beneath the surface of the tropical blue waters. The episode and vessel take an unexpected diversion, however. Austen and Shep find themselves at one another’s throats over who is the worst boyfriend. At least, that’s what I think they were arguing about. Here’s everything that went down in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 13.

Can’t we get through one dinner?

The episode picks up where Episode 12 left off. We’re at a crab shack with Shep and Craig screaming at one another. Shep is irate about Craig being given a pass because of his long-distance relationship, but he is still “torn to pieces” over his breakup with Taylor. I mean, as Craig stated, maybe don’t cheat on your girlfriend, buddy. To calm down, Shep grabs a Red Stripe because, yeah, ingesting more alcohol will make everything all better. 

Taylor is keeping to herself as she quietly cries, and Olivia decides to take matters into her own hands, pulling up a chair. Olivia, who is still grieving her brother’s death, tells her former BFF, “This is difficult. I don’t like this. I don’t enjoy the headlines. If you had just been honest with me from the start, none of this would be happening.” Even after Olivia shows so much kindness, all Taylor can do is dry heave.

Taylor confesses, kind of

The first words spoken by Taylor are, ”But the thing is, I made a mistake, and I lied about it. But I can’t do anything more.” Olivia’s face says it all, really, with Taylor’s confession going back to how she has been hurt in the past instead of taking accountability for what she did to her best friend. Olivia notes that the level of betrayal within the friendship is bizarre, pointing out how Taylor used Austen as a dig to hurt Shep. It is clear as day that little Taylor is over the drama she has created.

We then find Austen in the corner trying to gather allies, which will not work today, Satan! The only ear he can find is Venita’s, and she is definitely not Team Austen. Thankfully Madison shuts everyone at the bar up to eavesdrop just in time to catch Olivia saying, “I hate you. I hope he was worth it,” to Taylor. Again, I am left clutching my pearls. Insert fainting spell here.  

It’s a system of checks and balances

I will say, that I loved how the ladies rallied around Olivia when Shep jumped onto the bus to mansplain her own situation.

Madison’s “Get off the fu*king bus!” and Venita’s “She doesn’t want to talk to you” outbursts while smacking the seat are still ringing in my ears.

A scene that should go down in Southern Charm history.

Madison reveals her secret crush

If you haven’t already figured out, I am a JT fan, and his little floaties only add to his cuteness. The day started out nice enough as Little Napoleon was forced to jump off an 11-foot boat. Cue the childish screaming. Meanwhile, while everyone is frolicking in the water, Madison decides to open up to Craig about her girl crush on Paige. The Sewing Down South owner notes that he and his girlfriend only see each other for about four days a week, which honestly seems pretty okay in my book. 

The age-old question of when Craig will start his family is finally being answered. In a candid conversation, he tells Madison that he would happily move to New York for a few years to appease Paige because he can no longer work remotely anymore. He notes his company is tied to Charleston. Craig drops the hammer as he shares, “If Paige weren’t able to move to Charleston one day, then we would probably break up.” Look who is rocking the boat now. 

The boys are back in town

I don’t know what has happened to the men of Southern Charm, but all I can see is their wide-brimmed fiesta hats as Shep and Austen go at each other. I may be rusty, but if I am translating my frat boy right, Austen actively feels he has the capacity to care about people. Shep condescendingly laughs, saying “You care about people? That’s rich.” Thank god we have the voice of reason, Craig, to help the lines of communication. He tells Shep to be honest about the fact that he is upset; Austen hooked up with his ex even though he won’t admit it.

Shep’s voice rings out as he asks, “Are you okay? Cause you’re on Page Six, not looking too okay, bub.” In what felt like a mad hatter move, Austen deflects, saying Shep doesn’t look okay. It very much felt like I’m rubber, you’re glue scenario. I have to say, a tear came to my eye as Austen went for the juggler, telling Shep, “Oh, you’re nice? Telling Taylor it was fun to cheat on her was nice?” Honestly, both men are bad friends to one another, but Austen may take the Heavyweight Championship. It seemed to finally dawn on Shep that his best friend had indeed hooked up with his ex, and it is not sitting well. 

The only two people in the entire hotel room who didn’t look unhinged were Craig and Madison. They stood and watched all their hard work pay off. In one last punch to the kidney, Austen drives his point home, yelling, “She came on to me, motherf*cker. Not the other way around.” Austen, you could have said no. The word is considered a full sentence if used correctly.

Real Housewives of Miami Season 6, Episode 7 Recap: Lisa and Marysol Come Under Fire

Our favorite Floridians are back in Real Housewives of Miami Season 6, Episode 7, titled “Dildo & Dildon’t.” While Episode 7 brought some surprising reconciliations, it also stirred up some new issues. Last week, the girls set their sights on Palm Beach, driving down for a weekend getaway. The goal was to keep everything chill and relaxed, and things almost stayed tame. However, as is par for the course with the Housewives, dinner went sideways. Catch all the contention in our RHOM Season 6, Episode 7 recap.

Kiki brought a dildo to Palm Beach

Upon rejoining the Housewives at their temporary Palm Beach residence, Lisa announced that she had a game planned for the girls – a scavenger hunt. Lisa said there had been too much drama as of late, and everyone needed to cool off and let loose. When the teams were divided up, Nicole ended up with Alexia and Marysol.

Nicole admitted she had apprehensions about being grouped with her fellow Cubans given her history with the two. Nevertheless, the trio did manage to have a good time together. The scavenger hunt required the ladies to perform tasks such as acting like an animal, taking a tasteful nude, and finding a tampon, underwear, or lip gloss.

During the latter task, Nicole found a dildo in Kiki’s bag. “I touched it with my bare hands!” Nicole told the camera. Kiki defended her choice to take the toy on vacation, saying she never knew what mood she might be in. Nicole admitted she was “having the best time” with her partners.

Marysol apologizes to Nicole

Nicole and Marysol then had a surprising heart-to-heart. Marysol admitted that she had been a bully to the doctor. “I apologize,” she said, explaining that Nicole was still new and Marysol felt the need to “test” her.

Nicole forgave her, and Marysol said Nicole had no obligation to forgive so quickly. Nicole explained that she’d gone through too much with her father to want to hold grudges anymore. “Being angry keeps you stuck,” she explained. Moreover, Nicole said she appreciated Marysol’s admission that she’d been so terrible the last two years.

With that, the girls got ready for a dinner out on the town, putting on their best dresses and most expensive makeup. They even took a sprinter van and managed to behave themselves! On their way to the restaurant, the ladies discussed the grossest fetishes they’d ever seen from their partners, including feet, pregnancy, and drinking out of pump heels? “Que asco.”

The Housewives hold Marysol’s feet to the fire

After Lisa nearly fell on her way into the restaurant, the ladies made their way through drinks and appetizers. Lisa gave a toast about the “sisterhood” between the group. She expressed how special everyone was to her, and the sentiment rang true for everyone else at the table. Of course, there was an elephant in the room.

Marysol spoke up, noting the tension between her and Adriana. Marysol addressed her behavior the last time they’d been in a sprinter van. “I did not like the way I was,” she admitted. Marysol is extinguishing her burning bridges left and right. Adriana thanked Marysol for her words, and they seemed to move past it.

That was close. Things could’ve turned sideways very fast. But Adriana accepted the apology with grace and the group moved on … almost.

Julia soon spoke up. “Marysol, this group needs to move forward, and I feel you are the reason why we cannot move forward.” Adriana hid a smile behind her napkin. Julia specifically came after Marysol for having not defended Alexia when she spoke with Thierry, Adriana’s old boyfriend.

That’s when the unexpected happened. Guerdy couldn’t believe it. Nicole couldn’t believe it. But Alexia spoke up against Marysol as well. “You do say things about different people in the group and then you don’t own up to it,” she said.

Larsa jumped in as well, saying Marysol would often start drama without finishing it. She cited the time she and Nicole were at war and Marysol showed Nicole a DM claiming that she slept with a resident while she was married. Nicole became a little ill-tempered at the reminder and Marysol said, “You’re right. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”

But that was hardly the end of it. Julia jumped in again, asking if Marysol had hired a private investigator to follow “certain people.” Marysol denied it, but once Julia mentioned it, Lisa remembered talk of a PI following Anthony. Nicole said she was told the same thing, explaining how pictures were taken of Anthony at a staff get-together.

Nicole became pretty uncharacteristically livid, almost shouting as she repeated what Anthony had told her. Julia also said a friend had told her that Marysol intended to “behead” Adriana with private information. Things took another strange turn when Marysol asked, “Was your friend my ex?” Julia paused before responding and didn’t deny it.

The ladies are sick of hearing about Lenny

That’s when things truly went off the rails. First, Lisa tried defending Marysol, saying how hurt she’d be if any of her friends went to dinner with Lenny. Kiki and Guerdy showed the annoyance on their faces. Guerdy told the cameras that she would pluck her eyelashes out one at a time with tweezers if she had to hear more about Lenny.

Marysol told Lisa to move on, reiterating her advice last week. Kiki was also fed up, saying Lisa said the name Lenny so much that it sounded like “a song.” Kiki explained, “You’re giving Lenny too much of your time,” and she was right. Lisa only gives the wolf more power by feeding it. The best way to get the better of Lenny would be to move on.

Even Larsa confessed that Lisa talked too much about Lenny. “Who are you to talk to me about what’s happening in my life?” Lisa asked. Kiki looked to the side and said, “Well, I guess Lenny is still part of your life.” Kiki further said she wanted to hear about Lisa’s life outside of Lenny, but never did. Marysol diffused the situation, but not for long.

Kiki got up to join Nicole in the bathroom. “It wasn’t mean,” Nicole reassured her. “The thing is, she’s like a little bird.” Lisa stayed at the table and cried. Real tears? Debatable.

Larsa won’t apologize to Guerdy

With everything being laid out on the table, Larsa decided to talk to Guerdy (on top of all the other drama that had just occurred). Larsa tried to explain that she intended no malice when sharing her cancer diagnosis with the group.

Guerdy explained that she just wanted an apology. Larsa said she’d texted, called, and sent flowers. But Guerdy never asked for that. Just one apology. To her face. And despite the easy out, Larsa still did not take it. “What is one word? It’s nothing,” Larsa said. Then say sorry, Larsa!

With her trademark lack of self-awareness, Larsa said, “We’re not in preschool.” Guerdy decided she was done. She said in confessional, “She’s like the little engine that could, and she just can’t. So at this point, I’m just nodding like, ‘Yeah, yeah, whatever.’”

As for Lisa, she continued crying, and Marysol encouraged everyone to get to bed. Kiki noted that by the time she came back from the bathroom, the conversation was still on Lenny.

A tense morning in Palm Beach

The next morning, Julia and Adriana discussed how Marysol would’ve known Julia was friends with her ex, giving more credence to the PI theory. They also discussed Marysol’s dabblings with voodoo and Santería, where she allegedly brought in Adriana’s picture and wished harm on her.

As the girls gathered for breakfast, Lisa said “Good morning” to Kiki in the most passive-aggressive way possible. But Kiki returned with a comment on her blue facemask.

From there, Lisa, Nicole, and Adriana went to Lisa’s appointment to craft her scent. The rest of the girls went to croquet, and Lisa expressed some bitterness that Larsa chose the sports outing instead of her meeting. The group drove some old Chevies to the National Croquet Centers, with one broken-down Chevy unable to stop them.

Lisa Hochstein needs help ASAP

Lisa arrived at the Aroma360 location to meet with Tyler, her brand manager. She met with a chemist (the whole purpose of the trip) to finalize her scent. After trying a few options, Nicole asked Lisa what she envisioned her rebirth as. Lisa struggled to answer that question. Ultimately, she landed on the moment when she could be the old Lisa again. “I haven’t been happy for a long time.”

Lisa, I say this with total sincerity, please, find a good therapist.

Meanwhile, at the National Croquet Center, once the girls got situated with drinks and food, Marysol got a Google alert about Lisa. She read a headline explaining that Lenny claimed Lisa charged over $10k to his Instacart in one month.

Larsa said those numbers must’ve been real if Lenny was prepared to go to court with those numbers. “I know Sephora is on Instacart,” Larsa told the cameras. “I know my best friend and she’s addicted to makeup, so …” Larsa expressed her concerns that Lisa had no idea how to manage money.

From there, the group discussed how they could even talk to Lisa, knowing she just closes herself off every time they try to address their concerns with her.

Dr. Heavenly Kimes Apologizes to Quad Webb: ‘You Did Not Deserve This’

You know it’s a cold day in hell if Dr. Heavenly Kimes is apologizing. So, it must be below zero in the ATL. Married to Medicine Season 10 has been epic so far. Of course, watchers welcomed the returns of Toya Bush-Harris, Dr. Jackie Walters, Dr. Simone Whitmore, and Heavenly — as well as newcomers Lateasha Lunceford and Phaedra Parks. 

On the other hand, Quad Webb joined the ladies a little later in the season due to contract negotiations. And based on her recent cryptic language about her status on the show, she won’t be around much longer. After a social media user told Quad the series wasn’t the same without her, the reality star said her time this season is nearing an end. 

“Well, you all will be able to enjoy me for [two] more episodes only this season. Sad, but oh so true,” Quad wrote. Many users assumed Quad’s statement meant the rest of the cast forced her out of the group (Mariah Huq style) — and from Heavenly’s latest post, it sounds like it.

After the latest episode (Sunday, December 10) aired, Heavenly joined Carlos King on YouTube to talk about what went down. The esteemed producer critiqued how the cast treated Quad on this trip, from the constant attacks to Phaedra’s changed flight. However, despite his judgment, Heavenly defended her behavior. 

Now, she’s singing a different tune. 

“I just watched episode 7…. I feel soo bad,” Heavenly tweeted. “It was horrible. Damn. I want to cry. I’m soo sorry [Quad]. This was too much; you did not deserve this!” 

It’s no secret that Quad has had her ups and downs with the rest of the group. So, it’s understandable why some of the ladies felt she didn’t have a place in their social circle any longer. But could they have taken it too far? We’ll have to find out in the next episode.

Winter House Season 3, Episode 8 Recap: Roasted and Toasted

Season 3 of Winter House is winding down, but somehow, there’s still a little bit of steam left in this boat. Last week, we got an unnecessary cameo from Captain Sandy Yawn. Then, Danielle killed whatever was left of the good vibes by whining about her situation with Alex and taking her aggression out on everyone else. This week, Tom returned, and the gang also welcomed Kory’s soon-to-be girlfriend Sam for a visit. She came to Colorado with a little bit of attitude and a whole lot of insecurities, shaking things up for Season 3’s penultimate episode. Let’s tackle all of the juicy details of Winter House Season 3, Episode 8 “Coming in Hot.”

Down in the dumps with Danielle

Unfortunately, Episode 8 brought us right back into the Danielle drama, as she fully spiraled over her situation with Alex. Fueled by frustration, Danielle started terrorizing everyone in the house with her weird attitude.

The group planned a glow party, and Danielle complained. They ordered Chinese takeout. Danielle complained. Everyone knew why she was grumpy. It had everything to do with Alex, so Malia tried to get her to snap out of it. But, there was no salvaging Danielle’s mood. Luckily, she eventually had the wherewithal to just remove herself from the party and go to bed. You know they were all relieved.

The next day, Danielle woke up fresh as a daisy. It was as if nothing ever happened, and she even did a deep clean of the kitchen. A full 180, and by the end of the day, she did another one.

She pulled Alex aside to talk about the status of their relationship, and she reiterated how she just wanted it to be a fun vacation fling. Of course. she says that but then runs around being emotional and territorial over Alex. He finally called out her hypocrisy and suggested that they just “focus on the friendship” and take away the benefits.

Danielle didn’t like that, but sheesh. She needed to hear it. No one could endure another minute of her Alex-induced mood swings.

Welcome home, Tom Schwartz

After only missing one episode, Tom made his triumphant return to Winter House! He survived the Season 10 Vanderpump Rules reunion and ventured back to Colorado to finish out the vacation. When Tom left the house, it definitely seemed like he was going to be gone for much longer than just one episode, but alas, our boy is back.

The whole house seemed excited to have Tom coming back into the fold. Katie wanted her crush back. Alex was stoked to have his pillow talk therapist back beside him. Tom was just grateful to be away from VPR.

“There’s no doubt about it this is escapism for me,” Tom said of his Winter House return. “I’m savoring every moment that I don’t have to be back in Los Angeles, where it’s very scary.”

When Tom came back to the house, all eyes were on him and Katie. Would they leap into each other’s arms like two war-torn lovers? Not at all.

Unfortunately for Katie, the emotional connection she had with Schwartz seemed to have reset while he was away. Yes, he called her by her first name in this episode, but where’s their spark? It seems like maybe his absence helped them both realize that this was a showmance and not a romance. However, there’s still time for one more hookup, so we’re not ruling them out just yet.

Sam’s a’coming

Kory invited his sort-of girlfriend to come visit the Winter House, and while that’s cute and all, it caused some super awkward feelings amongst the roommates as they awaited her arrival. Sam’s visit became less about Kory and more about everyone else.

Jordan felt weird because she was trying to get with Kory earlier in the vacation. Casey felt uneasy because she straight-up called Sam trash. Then, the cast learned about a blind item floating around on the internet that suggested Malia and Kory had been flirting. Awkward!

Kory tried to get ahead of some of the drama before Sam got there. He told Casey that he didn’t tell Sam about her trash-talking. Kory said he wasn’t going to tell her until after filming wrapped. What a gentleman, right?

Sam arrived pretty early in the episode, and everyone welcomed her with open arms. However, Casey’s arms were almost too open. The two of them were instantly buddy-buddy, and it felt painfully fake. Jordan thought so too. She theorized that Kory did tell Sam about Casey’s trash-talking and that they were both just overcompensating.

Regardless of whether they were being fake or not, Casey was able to steer clear of any drama with Sam. Malia on the other hand? That’s a different story.

Malia’s little sister energy

Sam was in the Winter House for maybe 10 minutes before Malia and Kory’s friendship became a problem. The blind item floating around about their flirty relationship didn’t help things. Neither did Kory’s chat with Sam where he told her at the beginning of the vacation, all of the girls were flirting with him. He wanted a pat on the back for not betraying Sam, but instead, he just made Sam even more insecure than she already was.

All season, Malia and Kory have been acting like two playful little siblings, and Sam’s presence didn’t change that. They wrestle, they tackle each other, they baby-bird shots of liquor into each other’s mouths — they’re like a big brother and a little sister. At one point in this episode, Kory and Malia wrestled each other in the snow right in front of Sam. She got pissed.

Sam went to Danielle and Amanda and complained about Malia being “desperate” for Kory. They tried to explain to Sam that Malia has “little sister energy.” Sam wasn’t buying it.

Behind the scenes, Jordan didn’t buy it either. In her confessional, she hilariously quipped, “It’s giving brother and sister in this universe but somewhere out there in the matrix is a different story.”

Danielle tried to help Sam by giving Malia a heads-up that there was some animosity growing. She suggested that Malia dial back her friendship with Kory, but let’s be real, Danielle is the last person anyone should take advice from in this house.

A roast to remember

That evening, the group organized a roast. There’s no better way to bond with your roommates than roasting them. It’s truly a love language.

Casey made some type of mystery meat to go with the roast, and they all gathered around and cracked jokes at each other’s expense. They read for being friend-zoned by all the girls. They dragged Kory for being a player. Then, of course, Danielle had to make things weird by trying to roast Alex for no longer wanting to sleep with her. Too much.

Malia got the roast extra spicy by making a dig at Sam. With a wink, she said, “Sam welcome to the house, I know it’s been a lot to tackle.”

Sam didn’t laugh and took it way too seriously. So once all of the jokes were done, she and Malia stepped aside to talk about the Kory situation. It quickly devolved into an argument as Sam tried to accuse Malia of being disrespectful to her “relationship” with Kory.

It’s not every day that anyone’s rooting for Malia in an argument, but she got Sam together. Sam tried to argue that Malia should be more respectful of her eight-month situationship with Kory, and Malia had to gently remind her that Kory came into the house, loudly proclaiming to not be in a relationship. That’s not Malia’s fault.

Once again, we’re witnessing the dangers of an undefined relationship. Whether it’s Schwartz and Katie’s weird showmance, Alex and Danielle’s “friendship,” and now, Sam and Kory’s situation, having unclear boundaries doesn’t seem to be going well for this group. Maybe they should all take a page from Jordan’s book and focus on celibacy for a bit.

Either way, the episode ended mid-argument with Malia and Sam. We’ll have to tune into next week’s season finale to see how that conversation unfolds.

Ariana Madix on Tom Schwartz’s Winter House Showmance With Katie Flood

Fans might not be loving Tom Schwartz on Winter House, but he certainly loved his time there. In Season 3, Episode 6, Tom shared with the cameras how “therapeutic” it was to be developing a Housemance with Katie Flood.

Granted, Tom also expressed one reservation – the fact that Flood shares a first name with his ex, Katie Maloney. As Vanderpump Rules fans know, Katie is Ariana Madix’s BFF, so it was only a matter of time before Ariana commented on the matter.

Given the current state of Ariana and Tom’s friendship, her response wasn’t all that surprising. Still, that hasn’t stopped Tom from attempting to craft a five-year plan to win back her favor. But for now, Tom’s not looking too good.

Ariana on Schwartz and Flood: “Why does he care now?”

On the December 10 episode of Watch What Happens Live, a fan wrote in asking Ariana her opinion on Schwartz’s romance with Katie on Winter House. Specifically, the question asked her opinion on Schwartz reportedly being hung up on her name “I mean, why does he care now?” she said. “Like that’s where he draws the line, is the name.”

After the question, Ariana and Andy Cohen discussed the extent of her relationship with Tom Schwartz in the present. “We don’t have a friendship,” Ariana said plainly. When asked if she missed him, Ariana admitted she did not. However, despite the strained relationship between the two, Ariana said they had been “cordial” with one another.

That was in line with Tom’s previous comments regarding his friendship with Ariana. “I’m always cordial with her and I’m always excited to see her,” he told PEOPLE. “She’ll give me a nod and say hi, but I think our friendship [is] going to take some work.” As of right now, it would seem a friendship with Schwartz is nowhere in Ariana’s five-year plan.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4, Episode 14 Recap: Queen Monica’s Bermudan Beach Birthday

Welcome to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4, Episode 14 recap. In this week’s episode, “Bermuda Birthday Blues,” it’s Monica’s birthday and Heather crowns her “Queen for a Day.” But an unexpected change of plans turns into a heartbreaking disappointment. Gossip is making the rounds that Angie’s a member of the Greek Mafia, but could the source be someone they know? All Hell breaks loose at Monica’s birthday dinner, as Angie confronts Meredith. Here are the highlights of RHOSLC Season 4, Episode 14.

All hail Queen Monica

Over a traditional Bermudan breakfast, Heather crowns Monica “Queen for a Day.” She presents her with “a special crown, a scepter, and a queen’s robe.” Monica’s really touched, especially since she’s in such a tough place right now with her mom.

Monica’s so excited to be in Bermuda. Her extended family is from there and later today, she’s going to get to spend some time with them. She’s very excited about seeing her family members she hasn’t seen in 30 years.

A couple of weeks ago, Monica was supposed to go to therapy with her mom – at Linda’s request. Monica didn’t even want to go but told her mom she’d be there. She was willing to try. But Linda never showed up. That’s pretty f*cked up. It was Linda’s idea for them to go together in the first place, and she just blew it off. That’s just sad.

But Monica has heard from her Bermudan family that Linda’s been saying she wants to “show up and surprise Monica for her birthday.” She can fly to Bermuda for her daughter’s birthday, but she can’t make a therapy appointment? Linda wants to be seen as a caring mom, but she won’t “do the work.”

Is Angie in the Greek Mafia?

After breakfast, Monica calls Lisa up to her balcony for a chat. She’s nervous about meeting her family after so many years. She doesn’t want to go by herself and asks Lisa if she’ll come with her. Lisa’s flattered and touched that Monica would ask her and says, of course, she’ll come. She’d love to meet Monica’s family.

But then Monica brings up her talk with Meredith the night before. Meredith suspects that Angie’s in the “Greek Mafia.”

Lisa says, “Oh, my God, are you crazy? That is nuts!”

Monica tells her about the DMs she’s been getting on her Instagram about Angie, including legal documents pertaining to tax liens and bankruptcies. She also says that Meredith said she was getting the same ones.

Lisa doesn’t believe it for a minute. She thinks Meredith’s just trying to damage Angie’s reputation. It’s the same thing she did last year with Lisa’s SEC filing. Lisa thinks Meredith’s using Monica to do her dirty work.

A crushing disappointment

First on the birthday agenda: jet skis! They fly across the water, over the top of sunken wrecks. They feed bread to the fish. Frozen veggies are much better for feeding fish. Frozen peas are the best.

Afterward, everyone returns to the van. As they find their seats, Monica looks at her phone. Suddenly she jumps off the van and bursts into tears. Lisa follows her.

“Wait, what just happened?” Meredith wants to know.

Crying hysterically, Monica tells Lisa, “My mom just made my family not meet me.”

“Why?!” Lisa asks. “Oh, my God, I’m so sorry … Why would she do this to you?” Monica’s crying made me teary. I’m a sympathetic crier.

Sobbing, Monica says, “I can’t breathe.” She got a text that her Bermudan family no longer wanted to see her.

“I can’t help but think that my mom was somehow involved,” Monica confesses. “I know that she wanted to be here, and I know that she’s upset that she’s not.”

As self-absorbed as Lisa usually seems, she’s very sweet with Monica. To calm her down, Lisa keeps repeating, “You’re fine, you’re fine.”

In voiceover, Monica adds, “I was so excited to see my family … and hear stories about my grandma. I feel like if my mom can hurt me, she will … I feel so alone.”

Once Monica’s composed herself, they return to the Sprinter van. I feel so sad for Monica. I can’t imagine having a mother who would cause her child so much pain.

When they get back, everyone wants to know what happened, but Monica can’t even speak about it without crying again. So Lisa explains what happened. Seriously, you guys, I’m crying for Monica right now.

Birthday beach time

At the beach, there are six chairs set up and lunch is ready. They have champagne and Bermudan fish sandwiches.

Lisa and Angie go for a walk down the beach. Lisa tells the salon owner that Meredith thinks she’s in the Greek Mafia. She repeats all the information Monica gave her this morning.

Angie is stunned speechless. If I were in her shoes, that would not be my reaction at all. I would seriously fall down laughing. She calls Meredith a “Phoney F*cking Baloney Fraud.”

“Come on, my little gangster,” Lisa says, as they stroll back to the group.

Monica’s pirate-themed birthday dinner

For Monica’s birthday dinner, everyone dresses up as a pirate. Except for prissy Lisa who won’t wear a costume unless it’s Chanel or Versace. The restaurant is in an actual cave with stalactites and stalagmites! It’s amazing!

Once the cocktails are ordered, Monica wants to know when was the last time everybody had sex. She thinks she’s being open about sex, but a lot of us prefer to keep our private life private.

Heather agrees with me on this subject and refuses to talk about it. When Monica presses her, Heather pulls the STFU card. Sometimes that card comes in handy.

“We should not play games anymore,” Whitney wisely observes.

But before the appetizers even arrive, Angie confronts Meredith about accusing her of being in the Greek Mafia. Meredith claims she never said that. Oh, yes, she did! That’s exactly what she told Monica, and we all saw it on TV.

Of course, a fight ensues and I’m not even going to recap it ’cause it’s just like every other fight. They never settle anything. Can these women never just go somewhere and have a nice time?

“Meredith just doesn’t get that we’re onto [her],” Lisa comments. “It doesn’t take Inspector Gadget to figure out what you’re doing. She doesn’t have superpowers, she can’t just make this go away. You’re guilty.”

“Meredith has a very sophisticated game of pot-stirring,” Heather says. I blame it on too much time in the bathtub. I’m just glad these pirates didn’t have swords.
