Love Island Games Episode 1 Recap: First Cast, Couples and Bombshells Revealed

Love Island Games has finally arrived on Peacock: Episode 1 saw the first 12 Islanders introduced, and they were immediately thrown in at the deep end. A challenge saw the ladies get the power to choose the initial couples, with host Maya Jama overseeing proceedings. There was also some excellent narration from the legendary Iain Stirling, plus a couple of Bombshells were thrown into the mix. Here’s everything that went down in Love Island Games Episode 1.

While we know a lot of Love Island contestants will be making their way to the villa, these 12 were the first to be revealed for Love Island Games. In Episode 1, they each arrived at the villa with high energy. It’s going to be an interesting season for sure. But, as we know, when Bombshells arrive, everything can change. That high, positive energy, could turn into manipulative, and even negative energy at any point. I say, bring on the drama. Looks like producers thought the same, judging by the end of this premiere episode…

Love Island Games: First challenge revealed

In the first-ever Love Island Games challenge, the women had to collect hearts in a game called “All Spies On Me.” There were a total of three to find, with a bunch of different tasks to complete including the popping of balloons, jumping through a (paper) wall, and diving into a huge tank of water. One hilarious moment came when Cely attempted to jump through the wall, and the wall pushed back. Even Maya couldn’t stop herself from bursting into laughter. An excellent way to get things started.

At the end of the first challenge, the results were revealed. Lisa and Imani were the only two ladies to collect all of the hearts, and so they got to choose their partners first. Justine and Cely each collected two stars, so their choices came next. Liberty made the penultimate choice, and Jessica was left with Steph; something she didn’t mind, as she noted he was in her “top three.”

How are the couples getting on in Episode 1?

Most of the couples are getting along great, but when Steph insinuated Jessica wasn’t “sporty” enough, she wasn’t happy. She let her feelings be known in confessional, but to Steph’s face, she was impressed when he said he would “carry the team.” Jess suggested that they could go to the gym together: “Get these guns going and make me fit as f*ck.” She’s going to be a real firecracker. I can see why the casting team reached out.

On their first big night, everybody pulled out all the stops to look good. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful casts reality television has ever seen. Thankfully, there are also some great personalities to keep us entertained across the season.

Callum wanted to get his “foot in the door,” and immediately kissed Liberty. Then, Maya arrived. It was time for some big news.

The first Love Island Games Bombshells arrive

Maya gathered the 12 Islanders around the Fire Pit. She explained that two new Islanders were on the way, and would kiss the two people they found the most attractive. The twist? That the 12 original Islanders would be blindfolded, so they wouldn’t know who was kissing who.

The Bombshells arrived in the form of Megan Barton Hanson from Love Island UK, and Johnny Middlebrooks from Love Island USA. Johnny has history with Cely, actually leaving their original season together as a couple. They’ve hardly spoken since their split, and he has no idea what he’d say to her if she was in the villa. Lucky for him, she’s right there!

Megan chose to kiss Callum, straddling him and making sure Liberty knew exactly who was getting a snog, as well as Steph. Johnny’s first kiss was with Imani. Then, he moved onto Cely. My jaw was on the floor, as Johnny and Megan retreated back to their hiding spots, and the credits rolled.

Love Island Games continues six nights a week, Sunday – Friday, streaming on Peacock.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4, Episode 8 Recap: Major Mommy Issues

Previously on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, rumors were reportedly flying about Angie Katsanevas’ husband Shawn Trujillo, and Monica Garcia had a big fight with her mom at Angie’s Easter Brunch. It was ugly. Here’s what went down on RHOSLC Season 4, Episode 8: “Moms, Missions, and Matrimony.”

Monica’s abandonment issues

The day after Angie’s disastrous Easter Brunch, Heather Gay invites Monica to go for a snowmobile ride. Afterward, they cozy up with a hot drink in the lodge.

“Thank you so much for calling me,” Monica tells Heather. “That meant a lot, and I really needed this.”

“Yesterday was hard,” Heather responds. “When I saw you leaving [Angie’s] with your kids in your arms and no shoes, I couldn’t get it out of my mind … to have your mom there but not helping you, you know?” It reminded Heather of her own damaged relationship with her mom.

Heather and her mom were close, but they grew apart when Heather got divorced. “It was really hard for everybody to accept,” she said. “It just didn’t feel like anybody had my back, you know?”

The volatility of Monica’s relationship with her mom goes back to her childhood. “When I turned 12,” she began, getting emotional, “my mom … decided that she wanted to chase her dreams, so she dropped me off with a family in Pennsylvania and went and lived in New York.”

Heather is visibly shocked, but Monica continues, “My dad left me when I was four, and then my mom left me.” This is the root of her abandonment issues.

Things got so intense at Angie’s house because Monica felt, once again, abandoned by her mother. Linda didn’t defend her and was even apologizing for her behavior.

“You and I actually have way more in common than I would have ever thought,” Monica tells Heather. “I really am so grateful … I wouldn’t have even left my bed today, truly.”

“You have a village,” Heather responds. “You’re creating a new village, and you’re gonna be okay.”

Tantrums and control tactics

A few days later, Heather hosts another outdoor gathering. She invites Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks and Monica to go cross-country skiing, followed by a tailgate party in the parking lot.

While they’re enjoying their snacks in the sunshine, Whitney asks, “So, Monica, what’s going on with the car? You got a new Range Rover.”

“That’s a rental,” Monica explains. Apparently, Monica’s credit is bad, so when she had to get a new car, her mom financed it and Monica makes the payments. “So every time she gets mad at me, she takes the car. She took my car after Angie’s Easter dinner and left me without a f*cking car for my four kids. So, I had to rent another car.”

Heather’s jaw dropped. Mine did, too. That’s unbelievable … but it gets worse.

Monica’s mom called and said, “I want the car by 4 p.m., or I’m calling the police and saying it was stolen.” The other women are stunned. Monica’s mom is … well let’s just say, she’s not nice.

“It’s just because she’s angry,” Monica says. “It’s a control tactic.”

“She’s like Ted Bundy, right?” Monica jokes. “No one ever thought he was a murderer ’cause he was so charismatic.”

Whitney and Mary’s disastrous dinner

Whitney checks in for her dinner reservation for two. Who is she meeting? Uh oh, it’s Mary Cosby. This should be fun.

“We missed you at Greek Easter,” Whitney says.

“I didn’t miss it,” Mary lobs back. Oh, she’s not going to play nice – but then, she never does.

When the waitress brings their food, she accidentally spills a little juice onto Mary’s empty dinner plate. Mary’s eyes nearly pop out of her head.

“I am so sorry!” the server apologizes. “Let me grab you a new plate, okay?”

“You did not spill food on me,” Mary mutters. “Oh, my gosh.” In an interview, she adds, “Why didn’t she spill it on Whitney? That’s a sign. You should not be here tonight.”

After Mary urges her to “shoot your shot,” Whitney begins with an apology, “I got caught up in a lot of bullsh*t talking about you, and I’m so sorry.”

“You severed our future,” Mary tells her.

“But, Mary,” Whitney whines, “you have to own it, too.”

“What do you mean?” Mary asks. “I have to own you talking about me?”

“You sent me mean text messages,” Whitney responds, “and it hurt my feelings.”

“Grow up, little girl,” Mary says. “I’m done … I’m not doing this with you. You’ve wasted enough of my time … You called my husband and [me] “predators … I’m not wasting my time with you. Wake up, bobblehead … Watch me walk out the door.” She takes her food to go and leaves.

“You can’t just say anything about people,” Mary interviews, “and think it’s okay. Someone’s gonna backhand you. Seriously, it might be me.”

In another Salt Lake City eatery, Monica’s meeting her mom. As soon as Monica sits down, Linda starts to sob, which is so manipulative. Fortunately, Monica’s seen this show before and doesn’t fall for it.

Linda progresses to her second manipulative move. “I watched a movie,” she begins, “about an older lady in Croatia, who had issues with her mom. The mom died, and they hadn’t resolved their issues. I don’t want that to happen to us.”

“You want me to feel bad for you,” Monica responds, “but when I was crying, you didn’t give a sh*t. At Angie’s dinner, you made me feel completely alone … And then you expect me to sit here and feel bad for you that you’re crying.”

“I’m not asking you to feel bad for me,” Linda says, the tears suddenly drying up as her voice rises. “I’m asking you to have a conversation with me.”

“Don’t talk to me like that,” Monica answers.

“I’m not gonna talk to you like some weak-ass bitch,” Linda yells, pounding her fist on the table for emphasis. “When you were in Palm Springs, you said that Angie was acting like a crazy person … you were trying to calm her down, and I was just trying to do that for you.”

“I didn’t get in Angie’s face and humiliate her,” Monica says. “You instantly took her side … I don’t understand that.”

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this,” Linda shrugs.

“You tried crying. You tried yelling. That’s usually all you do.”

“Stop that,” Linda argues. “That was sincere. Don’t be disrespectful.”

Monica draws the line in RHOSLC Season 4, Episode 8

“Mom, you’re not gonna scold me like I’m a f*cking little child anymore.”

“And you’re not gonna disrespect me,” Linda fires back. “I’m still your mother … Don’t mock my feelings.”

“Like you did to me?” Monica asks.

“I don’t care,” Linda shouts. “I don’t. I’m so over it.”

“I know you don’t care,” Monica claps back.

“Let me talk, motherf*cker,” Linda shouts. Whoa! What kind of a person calls their child a motherf*cker? Get up and walk out, Monica. Get your own damn car and cut ties. Your mom is toxic, as well as batsh*t crazy.

“Where did this start?” Linda asks, gesturing wildly.

“Easter at Angie’s was reliving my abandonment as a child,” Monica continues. “I was 12 years old, and it was so easy for you to leave me … and go off to live your life in New York.

“You treat me like I’m still that little, tiny girl that you can f*cking sh*t on and leave here and leave there … And still right now you don’t give a f*ck.”

“Get over it,” Linda says coldly.

“I’ve dealt with emotional and mental abuse my entire life,” Monica interviews. “All I can do is make sure my kids never feel that and break that cycle.”

When Linda asks when she’ll be forgiven, Monica tells her, “You just told me you don’t really feel bad, so not today!

“This sh*t is now affecting my children, and that’s where I draw the f*cking line … When you take our vehicle, I’m done.”

Before leaving to go home to her kids, Monica and Linda agree to go to therapy. That might take a while. There’s a lot of hurt there.

Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner Thinks He’s Found Love

Gerry Turner, the inaugural Golden Bachelor, has captured hearts worldwide in his epic search for love on reality love.

But while all of us have been falling for Gerry and his sweet and genuine demeanor, has he fallen for any of the beautiful ladies who left vying for his heart?

The charming 72-year-old Bachelor spoke with Extra and admitted that the process has been getting harder and harder by the week, and taking a toll on his heart.

The final rose from Golden Bachelor Gerry

Gerry has been out of the dating game for the past 50 years, and now he’s suddenly jumped into the deep end of the dating pool with 25 stunning and accomplished women. They were all eager to see if they can find love with him.

“It’s incredibly difficult,” he shared. “There are moments when you look at it, and you go, ‘I’m just so overwhelmed. I don’t have the input to make the decision,’ and then there are moments that are just ridiculously fun.”

And yes, Gerry thinks he may have found “the one” but notes that it’s “still probationary.” It’s a healthy way of looking at it, considering he appears to have developed strong feelings for all the remaining ladies.

And they have strong feelings for him, too. Leslie, 64, is trying to remain hopeful that she will be the recipient of the final rose. She shared that he was amazing and “there’s a lot of chemistry between us. I’m crazy about him.”

Breaking all the rules

“It’s so hard for any one of the individuals to watch me go off with the others,” Gerry admitted. “I don’t think it’s jealousy, just more that their heart has become more and more committed and just wrenches them a bit to see that happen.”

And Gerry admits it’s easy to get swept away by emotions. He revealed that his own emotions have caused him to break all the rules his daughter laid down before the show — like kissing on the first date.

“The affection I’ve had for everyone here, the kisses are more on a joyous, celebratory level,” he explained. “Showing affection but not showing passion or lust. I think we’ve all been comfortable with our level of intimacy.”

So, who will get that final rose? We’ll have to wait and see.

The Golden Bachelor airs on Thursdays on ABC.

RHONY’s Erin Lichy Defends Husband Abe After He ‘Joked’ He Would Cheat On Her

During Season 14, Real Housewives of New York City stars Erin Lichy and Sai De Silva double-dated with their husbands. The ladies brought up Jessel Taank and Pavit Randhawa’s sexual drought. When asked what their husbands would do in that situation, Abe Lichy piped up and said, “I would f*ck other women. I’m just saying.”

And let’s not forget that Brynn Whitfield was dragged by Erin for flirting with Abe the Babe during their vow renewal. But Abe was flirting and laughing during the exchange. Did Abe catch any of Erin’s fury? Doubtful.

Erin and Abe discuss his “joke” about being with other women

Erin and Abe spoke to The Daily Dish to clear up any misunderstandings about their marriage. Abe definitely wanted to address the “f*ck other women comment.”

“I know you, so to me it was funny and silly and like a joke, clearly, and I think to like our friends or anyone who knows you, it’s a joke. Because people don’t know you that well yet, like the Bravo fans, it seemed like, ‘Oh, so you’re going to cheat?'” Erin remarked.

Both Abe and Erin claimed that they were unaware of Jessel’s painful IVF journey. Abe said, “If we had known that, you know it would have been a completely different situation because the way it [was] being talked about was in that more playful way. Seeing the IVF struggles, I really felt for her, and I felt bad that it came off like that to her and that it might have hurt her.”

Erin explained that they would never want to criticize someone’s marriage. Did you watch this season, Erin? She stated, “It’s not something we would do. I think we’re being more playful with it and then I think got more real, you know, and once I saw that she was upset, I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ I never want her to be upset.” 

Viewers didn’t see enough of the real Abe

Abe also felt that RHONY viewers didn’t see a balanced picture of him, only snippets of “crass jokes.” He called the notion that he would cheat on Erin “ridiculous.” Abe said, “To see my reputation slandered like that was annoying because it’s just not who I am.” Then maybe you should watch what you say on camera? Just a thought.

“We’ve been together 13 years and we’ve been through a lot together and while we’re not, you know, perfect, as no couple is, we have a very strong relationship,” Abe stated.

He continued, “Our lives really do revolve around our family. We spend a lot of time with our children. On the show, there are all these little snippets of us, you know, how can we get away from the kids?” Abe said that the couple does enjoy spending some time alone together, but most of the time they spend hanging with their children.

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Discuss ‘Fresh’ Pump Rules Season 11

Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix are making moves, and more power to them. The two have had a rough go in the last couple of seasons of Vanderpump Rules. Between Katie’s divorce from Tom Schwartz and Ariana’s breakup with Tom Sandoval, the two had their hands full.

But like any good comeback story, the friends are attempting to turn tragedy into triumph. They made it clear that their exes wouldn’t leave them high and dry or in the dust.

So, since Season 10 ended, Ariana and Katie have stuck together like bark on a tree. Still, Season 11 has reportedly been the most difficult for any of the cast members to film thus far. Katie and Ariana have recently given some insight into the highs and lows of filming over the past year.

Katie and Ariana’s “vision” going forward

Katie admitted that returning to film VPR Season 11 was challenging. “I feel like it still felt really fresh. Even though it had been a few months,” she told OK!. She further reported, “Not enough life had been lived in between seasons.” With wounds feeling so fresh, Season 11’s may feel intensified.

On the other hand, without much more lived experience between seasons, things may feel similar to Season 10. Regardless, Ariana and Katie did have something to feel excited about going into Season 11—the progression of Something About Her. “It’s been great because we’ve had the same vision for what we want to accomplish and how we want things to be,” Ariana reported.

The pair also highlighted their desire to promote other female-led businesses. Ariana explained, “Whether it’s women-owned wine brands or any way we can incorporate that into our business, we’re definitely all about that because it’s very difficult to be taken seriously or to be given the opportunity as women in the business world.”

Vanderpump Rules Season 11 is expected to air on Bravo in early 2024.

Brynn Whitfield’s Obsession With Jenna Lyons Is Getting a Little Weird

Brynn Whitfield and Jenna Lyons were two of the new women featured on the Real Housewives of New York Season 14 reboot. While Jenna has since debuted a new girlfriend, both she and Brynn were among the few single cast mates at the start of the season. Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank are all married, and while Ubah Hassan also started Season 14 single, she is now in a relationship as well.

Despite a season filled with drama and cattiness, Brynn and Jenna maintained a great friendship. However, at one point in the season, RHONY viewers began to pick up on some strange patterns in Brynn’s behavior toward Jenna. Brynn seemed to be more than obsessed with Jenna, and crossed the line with inappropriate comments on multiple occasions.

From odd comments on the Anguilla trip to a scandalous birthday party, here are all of the ways Brynn crossed the line with Jenna on RHONY Season 14.

Brynn Came Off Way Too Strong During The Anguilla Trip

The peak of Brynn’s flirtations with Jenna took place during the Anguilla trip, where she crossed the line one too many times. Things began when Jenna realized her robe had become slightly undone because of the wind, exposing more skin than she had intended to. In response, Brynn replied “Good morning Jenna” in a confessional, which came off just a little creepy.

Brynn made things even more uncomfortable when she decided to showcase her tongue trilling to the women. Jenna was intrigued, and asked Brynn how she was able to do it. In an effort to show her, Brynn asked Jenna to put her finger on Brynn’s tongue. This turned into Brynn full on sucking Jenna’s finger, which was just too much.

Later on during a boat ride, Brynn once again made her intentions very clear to Jenna. After Brynn proclaimed that she had “slammed pineapple juice” for both of them, Jenna asked when they would consummate things. This referred to the ongoing joke that Brynn and Jenna were going to get married, especially after both women wore white to dinner. Of course, Brynn used the opportunity to make a joke about that as well.

Getting back to the boat ride, Brynn told Jenna that she was going to “get her like she gets the rest of them.” When Jenna merely replied by saying thank you, it was evident that she was not as into things as Brynn was. Despite saying that Brynn was beautiful and that anything could happen, the flirtations appeared overwhelmingly one sided for Brynn. Brynn’s behavior on the Anguilla trip was just too much, even if she was not aware of it.

The RHONY Season 14 finale featured a full on birthday bash for Brynn, with a masquerade-themed party. Despite the theme of the evening, Jenna was one of the only guests to show up with a mask. Jenna showed up at the party with a woman she claimed was only her friend, although Brynn had some doubts. She explained that the invite encouraged guests to bring a plus one they were interested in. It was pretty clear Brynn was a little jealous!

Despite coming to the party with another woman, Jenna made it clear that she intended to give Brynn her birthday kiss after all. Brynn had been quite demanding about the kiss, but seemed excited when Jenna reciprocated the interest. Brynn suggested that she just wanted a small kiss, but requested another peck as soon as Jenna pulled away. This all took place in front of Jenna’s friend, who watched on from behind her mask. It was just a little awkward!

In a confessional following the kiss, Brynn gushed over the moment. She even went as far as to claim “it’s gonna happen whether she likes it or not,” referring to a potential relationship with Jenna. This comment was completely out of line, as no one should ever be forced into any kind of relationship or flirtation, whether it is serious or not. If Brynn values Jenna as a friend, then she should be considerate and take her feelings into account as well.
