Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After made one thing glaringly obvious for me. There is someone for everyone. Larissa Dos Santos Lima wasn’t lying when she said that Colt Johnson gets women to date him. How is he finding these poor desperate women? Ewww… Is it the reality fame? Or is it the promise of a green card and several lovable cats that are causing them to flock to him?
Elizabeth Potthast Castravet is shocked to find out another hidden detail. Colt finally comes clean to his mother. Karine Staehle discovers more about America. Angela Deem is desperate to find a witness. Larissa makes a surprising call. Kalani Faagata and her mother go toe to toe with Asuelu Pulaa. Let’s get straight into the 90 Day Fiance Happily Ever After recap!
Angela (Hazlehurst, Georgia) and Michael (Nigeria)
Poor Michael Ilesanmi! He is still desperately seeking American citizenship. Not only is he willing to forego his manhood, but his happiness just to be bullied by Angela for the rest of his life. In Nigeria, he visits his aunt to speak to her about the ongoing issues with his betrothed. For some reason, his aunt believes despite Angela’s alpha exterior, she can be “calmed down.” Did Michael’s family not see the previous seasons of the show? She literally screams and throws cakes in his face. His aunt inquires on whether Angela is capable of having a child. Unbeknownst to Michael, his wife- to- be has bigger issues than her fertility, at this point.
Angela invites her best friend, Jojo to go to a thrift store to find a suit for Michael. Jojo finds out she was lured there to be asked to be a witness for Angela’s wedding. Graciously she accepts the invitation, despite her uncertainty about their relationship. Sadly, Jojo didn’t give any fashion advice. The white suit and clown red shoes and tie Angela picked out are UGLY! Hopefully, she is wearing a dress and not her standard leggings and sandals. Angela breaks the news to her grandchildren they won’t be able to attend the wedding. As a consolation, she models her wedding dress for them. She actually looks nice in her gown. Hopefully, she does something with that hair.
Angela has a biopsy after the last gynecology appointment showed irregularities. She is extremely nervous due to the number of women in her family who have had some form of cancer. She is given giggle gas to help her get through the discomfort, but reality sets in quickly when she sees the sample. The results will take a week, so she will receive the results while in Nigeria. I hope Angela is okay, it has to be very scary waiting, given her family medical history.
Colt (Las Vegas, Nevada) & his mom Debbie ex-wife Larissa (Brazil)
Colt finally confesses to his mother, Debbie he is dating someone new. He didn’t tell her right away because she is also Brazilian, like his ex-wife, Larissa. Debbie reassures him she doesn’t have a problem with all Brazilians, just those seeking to marry her son for citizenship. Despite Colt’s optimistic view, Debbie isn’t buying it. She is confused about why they both want to date someone who is across the country. In other words, she isn’t happy another woman is trying to impede on her mother/son quality time with the cats.
Colt video calls Jess to inform her that he broke the news of their relationship to his mom. But one thing she didn’t expect is Colt announcing he is bringing Debbie on their trip to Brazil. Jess tries to contain her displeasure, but it is virtually leaping through the screen. She quickly shifts the subject to how important it is that her father like Colt. Damn, this girl is good. She is grooming him for a proposal and he doesn’t even realize it. I’m sure private eye Debbie already picked up on those intentions, hence her inviting herself to Brazil. I can’t wait to see how this trip unfolds.
Colt’s friend, Vanessa (who he told Jess, he would no longer be friends with) arrives for dinner. Apparently, she will be cat-sitting while he and Debbie are in Brazil. They both claim to be best friends, but Colt reveals he has a crush on her and they have had sex. Debbie and Vanessa are both concerned when they find out Colt has given Jess money. I’m not surprised. Things make more sense now. I’m not quite sure what Vanessa’s angle is, but I’m sure there is more that we aren’t being told. This is looking like Larissa part 2, all over again.
Somehow Larissa has found Colt’s girlfriend, Jess’ phone number. What producer puppet master gave her the number to stir up some drama? Listening to this conversation is hilarious. Larissa makes some valid points about Colt talking to other women, attempts to deport her and his mother. Jess listens, but ultimately decides to hang up and take her chances. I guess right now, Colt is worth the risk for an opportunity to stay in the U.S.
Larissa has a friend drive her to the immigration office to discover her fate. She is worried that Colt may have done something behind her back, to jeopardize her application. Her friend didn’t realize the gravity of the situation when she offered to give her a ride. Larissa gives her the attorney’s phone number; just in case she gets deported.
Kalani (Orange County, CA) and Asuelu (Samoa)
Instead of going to Samoa, Kalani and Asuelu decide to go to California to celebrate their son’s birthday. Asuelu is still upset that he isn’t going to see his family anymore. When the one of children begins crying in the car, the drama begins. Asuelu makes the grave mistake of telling his wife and mother-in-law that a woman’s job in America is very easy. He feels that the women in his home country do everything by hand, in comparison to the modern amenities at his wife’s disposal. An argument ensues when Kalani challenges him.
Things go from bad to worse when Kalani’s mother inserts herself into the argument. Sigh! Asuelu is extremely misguided with his immature and sexist viewpoints. Whether you have a dishwasher and washing machine raising small children is hard work. But I do understand how it is very hard not to have modern luxuries, but not all American women have them either.
Asuelu feels like Kalani and her parents make him feel like a child, in his own marriage and home. In all fairness, she knew who she was marrying. Did she think he would grow up and change overnight? Maybe if they allowed him to step up like a man, he would act like one. I’m sure it’s already hard living with in-laws, without them chiming in on your every decision.
Things are tense when they finally arrive to the house in California. Kalani attempts to talk to Asuelu about the awkward road trip. She is finally realizing that her husband wasn’t going to automatically change, because his environment did.
Asuelu admits it’s hard for him to convey his feelings in English. When he returns inside, he grabs his bags and leaves the house. When a producer finds him, Asuelu returns the mic and jumps on a city bus. I must admit, I didn’t expect that. I think these two need marital counseling outside of Kalani’s parents ASAP.
Paul (Louisville, Kentucky) & Karine (Brazil)
Paul Staehle wants to give Karine his version of the American dream. Umm… whatever that means to him. His first stop is to his parent’s home to retrieve his car. One look and Karine is disgusted by how dirty and unsafe the car looks. I can only imagine what Paul has put his family through.
Apparently, it is so bad that they won’t even allow him inside to get a trash bag. Karine is forced to sit in the heat with the baby watching her husband throw trash around. I’m sure she didn’t expect to be living in a hotel and driving around in a beater in America. It’s sad that Karine has to suffer because of Paul. It’s clear his parents don’t want to risk her staying at the house, for fear he will return as well.
Elizabeth (Tampa, FL) & Andrei (Moldova)
Elizabeth and Andrei Castravet finally arrive in Moldova to plan their second wedding. They will be there a week before Elizabeth’s family joins them. It is nice to see a softer side of Andrei with his family. At dinner, Elizabeth shocked to find out yet another detail she wasn’t told until the last minute.
Before her daughter can be baptized, Elizabeth must be baptized as well. Andrei also warns his family about Elizabeth’s family. He hopes they will not do anything to embarrass him in front of his family. I can’t wait to see this big happy family reunion.
